RESOLUTION
WHEREAS, Clare Fox, a third generation Angeleno, grew up in a working class, multiethnic neighborhood in the San Fernando Valley, where she inherited a firm commitment to social justice from her mother, a lifelong teacher, union leader and writer, and a passion for innovation from her father, who ran a coffee shop on Ventura Boulevard; and
WHEREAS, as a young person growing up in LAUSD public schools, she built community across diverse cultural and socioeconomic worlds and witnessed firsthand disparities in access to food, healthcare, housing and economic opportunity, which forged her commitment to the dignity and rights of all people; and
WHEREAS, because of her passion for food as a force for healing, social transformation and ecological wellbeing, she served on the research team for Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa’s Food Policy Taskforce between 2009-2010, where she fell in love with food policy councils as a model for participatory democracy in local food systems; and
WHEREAS, Clare joined the Los Angeles Food Policy Council (LAFPC) in 2011 and has served as the organization’s Executive Director since 2015, during which time she has focused on building a movement for good food for all by cultivating a collaborative network of over 400 organizations and agencies; and
WHEREAS, under Clare’s leadership, LAFPC has achieved numerous legislative victories for more equitable food access, including universal CalFresh/EBT at LA’s farmer’s markets, the first countywide urban agriculture program, and the City’s first food recovery program, which has already rescued over 4 million pounds of fresh produce for food insecure families; and
WHEREAS, Clare is also founding member of the LA Street Vendor Coalition, and accompanied street vendor leaders in their decade long fight for legalization.
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that by the adoption of this Resolution, the Los Angeles City Council does hereby commend Clare Fox for her 9 years of outstanding public service and achievement in the City of Los Angeles, and on behalf of the people of this City we extend our best wishes to Clare in all her future endeavors.

Forrest Tiffany was bom and raised in Menlo Park in Northern California; and WHEREAS,
He graduated from Emerson College with a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Theater in 2014; WHEREAS,

Forrest started as an intern at the Council District Six’ Van Nuys field office where, from his first day, his work ethic and resolve made him stand out, and he was quickly hired to work the front desk at our City Hall office; and
WHEREAS,
Forrest’s interest in communications and ambition led to his transition to our communications team; and
WHEREAS,
His creative abilities and willingness to work long hours to manage all aspects of our social media, building the Council District Six audience on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram, while also writing press releases and newsletters, all the while utilizing innovative techniques and effective language; and
WHEREAS,
When there was a short absence of a communications director, Forrest stepped in as the point person for press conferences, interfacing with reporters, and sending out press releases; and WHEREAS,
He has a passion for movies and television and always had something interesting to say about the latest binge-watching phenomenon or Oscar-worthy movie; and
WHEREAS,
Forrest was always willing to take as long as necessary to explain an issue to a constituent. It was important to him to interface with the public on issues with nuance and clarity; and WHEREAS,
Forrest has been an integral part of Council District Six and he will be missed but we are sending him on his way with best wishes on his future endeavors.

NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that by adoption of this Resolution, the Los Angeles City Council hereby commends and recognizes Forrest Tiffany for his dedicated service to the office of Council District Six, its constituents, and the Greater City of Los Angeles.
