As hardware and software components of Apeos, the ApeosPort 550 I, 450 I, and 350 I multifunction devices give you access to the feature-rich Apeos environment.
ApeosPort multifunction devices allow complete control over the creation, storage, and retrieval of your company’s paper and digital documentation – all within a secure environment that can be accessed locally as well as globally. Incorporating the functions of a scanner, copier, printer, and facsimile into one unit, the ApeosPort 550 I, 450 I, and 350 I provide the means to input and output your data within the Apeos system.
ApeosPort puts you in control
Your ApeosPort multifunction device is a complete document handling solution that uses five intelligent services to manage all your document handling chores. These services let you manage security, control costs, facilitate intra-office collaboration, and enable easy system management. With your ApeosPort multifunction device, complex job flow operations can be easily programmed to be performed at the touch of a key. You can also tie the information of data you input with data found within an existing ERP application on the network.

At the user level, ApeosPort devices support a variety of Fuji Xerox proprietary software like CentreWare and DocuWorks. WebDAV support is also included for a simple, intuitive user interface to access stored data.

system needed to control related tasks. This advanced multifunction device integrates with almost
any existing information management system to improve workflow by increasing end-user
productivity. Furthermore, by making data instantly available to users within the ApeosPort
network, decision making is greatly facilitated.

The key to ApeosPort 550 I/450 I/350 I easy functionality is found within the five intelligent Apeos
services. By design, these services can be customised to increase user productivity and efficiency
by eliminating repetitive tasks and redundancies in the office work flow. All this and more under a
secure environment that is easy to set up and maintain.
This allows you to store scanned documents on a PC or server in a variety of different formats such as TIFF, Multi-page TIFF, PDF, XDW.
This Apeos application converts hard copy into digital format for distribution in a variety of formats. Documents can be distributed via printouts, FTP, SMB, e-mail, or stored in pre-selected mailboxes in the device. System administrators can easily program the document work flow using the built-in Job Flow Editor. An OCR feature is also included in optional CentreWare Flow Services software that creates searchable and editable data from hard copy.

This allows you to program a series of tasks into a “rule” which can then be processed automatically. Tasks that you can program to be performed on documents are compression, OCR, auto rotation, and noise reduction, to mention just a few.
This allows you to print a set of documents, then save the documents to the mailbox using the printer driver installed on the PC.

Corporate workgroups have a variety of scanning requirements all of which the ApeosPort 550 I/450 I/350 I can handle quickly and easily. The duplex automatic document feeder (DADF) lets you scan up to 55 pages per minute* and accepts A3-size documents. Built-in duplex capability reduces the time it takes to scan and store double-sided documents. What’s more, scanned documents can be quickly accessed as thumbnails via the WebDAV protocol.

The powerful PowerPC 350 MHz processor and 256 MB RAM (expandable to 512 MB) combine to produce output speeds of up to 55 pages per minute* with a first-page-out-time (FPOT) of 3.2 seconds. The PCL5e, PCL6 and optional PostScript 3 printer drivers enable easy integration with nearly any operating system and allow fast printing of even complex, graphics heavy documents.

For offices requiring bulk printing, the standard paper capacity can be expanded to 5,095 pages with the 6WAYS paper cassette option. The ApeosPort 550 I/450 I/350 I supports a variety of media types from 56 to 216 gsm including plain paper, transparencies, envelopes, and other thick media.
Versatile media handling capability
• The B Finisher* is the economical way to staple up to 50 pages at one time. Stapling can be at the front corner (single), at the rear (single), or can utilise dual staples.
• The C Finisher adds to the functionality of the B Finisher with a larger paper capacity and the ability to punch holes in final output.
• The C Finisher with Booklet Maker comes with a booklet maker function that allows you to produce brochures, booklets, and other types of bound material.

The ApeosPort 550 I/450 I/350 I reproduces extremely faint text or images on originals containing a mixture of text/image densities and clearly reproduce documents from tracing paper or other thin media. Two modes are available:
• Light Text mode detects faint text or images in the original and automati-cally adjusts its scanning density to clearly record these portions. Other text and image areas are scanned normally, effectively resulting in two different scanning densities to be employed on the original.
• Lightweight Originals mode sharpens images on thin media that would otherwise be blurred due to the translucent quality of the original media.
Enhanced copying of light documents
The Emulsion Aggregation (EA) toner used in the ApeosPort 550 I/450 I/350 I produces ultra-fine particles that are more uniform in size and shape than conventional toners. The end result is noticeably improved imaging for crisper, sharper output. EA toner is also environmentally friendly due to reduced CO2 emissions during production as well as improving imaging efficiency.

Make your facsimile transmissions crystal clear. Documents can be faxed at a razor sharp 600 x 600 dpi resolution that clearly reproduces even small type. For photos and other continuous tone graphics there is a convenient halftone mode that transmits every nuance of your image.

The ApeosPort 550 I/450 I/350 I produces crystal clear monochrome scans up to 600 x 600 dpi. Documents can be saved automatically to multiple PCs, a location on a server, or sent via e-mail to multiple accounts in TIFF, multi-page TIFF, PDF, and XDW formats.
Choose from either DADF or flat-bed scanning depending on the document type. DADF scanning allows you to scan both sides of a double-sided document automatically, while flat-bed scanning lets you scan books and other bound or thick material. Compatibility with almost any platform is assured thanks to the TWAIN driver. Scanned documents can also be edited or merged with other electronic documents such as Microsoft Word, Excel or PowerPoint with the optional document handling software, DocuWorks.

Your fax messages can be sent at resolutions up to 600 x 600 dpi using text, text and photo, or halftone modes. Faxes can be sent using the DADF (including double-sided originals), the flat-bed, or from PCs within the Apeos network.
