CSC Storage as a Service — Archive is an intelligent, fully managed, pay-as-you-go service that can cut the cost of storing infrequently accessed files. It automatically captures, categorizes, indexes and stores email and files so that they can be easily located and retrieved when needed. Archiving also enables the long-term retention of data and enables compliance and regulatory requirements to be met around the handling of data and information, while reducing the pressure of over-utilized storage arrays and backup solutions. CSC Storage as a Service — Archive uses a proven architecture and intelligent “ingest engine” to enforce retention policies, make better use of storage resources, improve storage management, reduce costs and control information risk. Policies can be defined centrally and applied across the organization. Items meeting the archival criteria are gathered from multiple file and/or email servers, indexed, de-duplicated, compressed and archived onto a secure and dependable storage service. When a file or email is archived, a shortcut is created in its place, allowing end users to continue to work as usual. When they need a document that’s been archived, they simply click the shortcut and the item is found, decompressed and streamed back to them almost instantly.
