"As you know, our youth are essential for our future. Without our 4- H and FFA youth, we would not continue to be leaders in the nation.
As a young, 4-H'er in the Calhoun County, Logan Larks 4-H Club some 40 years ago, little did I ever imagine I would [serve] as the President of the Iowa State Fair Board. Dreams do come true!"

RECORD KEEPING FORMS
September, 2021 4-H MOTIVATOR
To be considered a record book—it must include the 4-H Summary and at least 1 Project Record or Animal Project Worksheet. We encourage you to complete records on each project exhibited at the fair, but that isn't a requirement—just start somewhere and our Extension staff or your 4-H leaders will be glad to provide any assistance needed! Complete Word document versions of each of these forms and many more...
are available at https://www.extension.iastate.edu/4h/record-keeping and at https://www.extension.iastate.edu/buenavista/content/fair-forms
The 4-H Summary may
be the most important part of your record
book—this document will
become very helpful as you apply for awards,
scholarships, jobs and college.
The Project Record goes with each static
project or project area you worked on during the 4-H year. Basic is
for 4-6th graders, Experienced for 7th & 8th
graders, Advanced for
9th –12th.
There are a variety of forms
that allow for detailed livestock records. Above is a general form that can be used
for most livestock projects. Also available: dog, horse, breeding,
etc.
The Self- Evaluation is a
great way to reflect on your record keeping efforts during your 4-H year so that you can set some goals
for the upcoming year.
