RN to BSN Information Sheet for Onsite Cohorts

This information pertains to all RN to BSN students who are registered for onsite programs 1. Students are admitted to a specific site. It is expected that the student will stay in the

program at the site for which they are admitted. In special circumstances, students may request permission to transfer to another site or to the online program. Transfers to another site or the online program are not guaranteed and may be done only once if approved.

2. All students are required to submit to a criminal background check with the admission application and then annually until nursing coursework is completed. This updated criminal background check should be done no later than August 1 for cohorts that began in the fall and January 1 for those cohorts that began in the spring.

3. All students must maintain currency with required immunizations. When beginning the program, documentation of required immunizations is due by the first night of class. Subsequent submission of immunization status (updated TB) must be submitted as done to maintain up to date status. Any status that lapses will be cause for disciplinary action. All students regardless of admission date must submit documentation annually of the receipt of an influenza vaccine by November 1.

4. All students must maintain currency in CPR. Initial documentation of this currency is due the night of your first class. Updates in currency should be submitted as completed. Any lapse in CPR currency documentation will be cause for disciplinary action.

5. All students in the Richmond, New Castle, Lawrenceburg, and Madison cohorts must have an active unencumbered Indiana RN license by the end of the second semester of the program in order to participate in clinically related activities. Students in the Good Samaritan cohort in Dayton must have an active unencumbered Ohio RN license by the end of the second semester in order to participate in clinically related activities.

Students who do not have the appropriate RN license will have their program progression stopped until the license is secured.

6. Students should be familiar with the IU East RN to BSN Student Handbook. This handbook is located on the IU East Nursing website.

7. Students will be advised each semester. Students should NOT change course selections without first discussing this change with their academic advisor. Dropping a course or changing to another course may result in taking inappropriate courses for the students program.

8. The School of Nursing and IU East use e-mail as formal means of communication. Please check your IU e-mail weekly. Additionally, OneStart is used for billing and other

university communication. Students should check OneStart weekly as well.
