Dear Commissioner PUC,
I support solar energy growth in Colorado, and write to urge you to reject Xcel's effort to squash solar energy here. Xcel is trying to convince you that rooftop solar is a bad deal for Coloradoans, but that argument is motivated by their own concern of losing profit when more customers go solar not by facts. Distributed, local rooftop solar delivers innumerable grid benefits that will save ratepayers money. In addition to those ratepayer savings, Colorado's growing rooftop solar market delivers tremendous public benefits including jobs, improved air quality, less pollution of the global climate, and the decreased use of precious water resources for energy production. For those reasons and more, we should support solar energy so that it continues to thrive here in Colorado.
Xcel's solar cost and benefit study has not been reviewed by either the public or the Commission, so it's impossible to evaluate the company's underlying data and to know whether they're accurately considering the myriad benefits of solar power.
Please don't slow down Colorado's growth as a solar power leader.
Reject Xcel's proposal today as an unacceptable, untransparent and inaccurate start to the conversation about net metering and potential reform ideas.
Thank you.
Sincerely, David Adam 66-779f haleiwa rd haleiwa, HI 96712 (808) 636-8087

Dear Comissioners Colorado PUC,
Xcel is going to great lengths to convince you that rooftop solar is a bad deal for Coloradoans, but this couldn't be further from the truth. Distributed, local rooftop solar delivers innumerable grid benefits, which Xcel is unfairly discounting. According to a recent analysis by Crossborder Energy, Xcel's current solar customers alone will deliver up to $11 million in annual net benefits to Xcel Energy's system.
In addition to those ratepayer savings, Colorado's growing rooftop solar market delivers tremendous public benefits including jobs, improved air quality, and the decreased use of precious water resources in our energy production. This valuable resource should be supported and encouraged in Colorado, one of leading solar markets.
As you know, the solar cost and benefit study upon which Xcel is basing its net metering rollback proposal, has not been reviewed by either the public or the Commission.
I urge you to be a solar power leader by rejecting Xcel's proposal today as an unacceptable start to the conversation about net metering and potential reform ideas. While that conversation should happen, Xcel's proposal should not be considered until the public and the Commission can thoroughly evaluate the underlying data Xcel is using to justify this anti-rooftop solar proposal.
Thank you.
Sincerely,

Dear Comissioners Colorado PUC,
Citizens in the City of Lakewood have formed a Lakewood Energy Action Group (LEAG) whose mission is to educate ourselves and others about benefits of renewable energy and to work towards our city - and the state of Colorado - becoming a national leader in adoption of clean, green, local, citizen-controlled energy. As such we are very concerned about Xcel's efforts to convince you that rooftop solar is a bad deal for Coloradoans. This couldn't be further from the truth. Distributed, local rooftop solar delivers innumerable grid benefits, which Xcel is unfairly discounting.
