Preface

This guide describes how to perform basic tasks using Oracle Utilities Meter Data Management Business Intelligence. It also identifies and describes content components such as dashboards, answers, and subject areas.

Audience

This guide is intended for all users of Oracle Utilities Meter Data Management Business Intelligence.

Getting Started

Oracle Utilities Meter Data Management Business Intelligence consists of a set of answers and dashboards that are built on top of Oracle Business Intelligence Enterprise Edition and Oracle Utilities Business Intelligence.

This guide contains information that is specific to Oracle Utilities Meter Data Management Business Intelligence and does not cover common end user tasks for Oracle Business Intelligence Enterprise Edition and Oracle Utilities Business Intelligence. Please refer to the Oracle Business Intelligence Answers, Delivers, and Interactive Dashboards User Guide (in the Oracle Business Intelligence Suite Enterprise Edition Documentation Library), Oracle Utilities Business Intelligence User Guide, or Oracle Utilities Business Intelligence online help for information about common tasks. See Related Documents on page i-i for a list of all available documents and the product library to which each document belongs.

Overview

Oracle Utilities Meter Data Management Business Intelligence provides insightful analytics on Oracle Utilities Meter Data Management. These analytics enable customers to monitor:

• Meter performance

• Usage

Oracle Utilities Meter Data Management Business Intelligence uses Oracle Business Intelligence Enterprise Edition built-in metaphors are utilized to display non-spatial information in tables, bar graphs, pie charts, and gauges.

Accessing Oracle Utilities Meter Data Management Business Intel- ligence Analytics

To access Oracle Utilities Meter Data Management Business Intelligence, you use a URL, a user ID, and a password provided through your implementation. To log in to the application, follow this procedure:

1. Type the URL into the address field on your browser (for example, http://hostname:port/

analytics).

The Oracle Business Intelligence log in screen appears.

2. Type your user ID and assigned password.

3. Check the language displayed in the Select a Language box.

Text displayed in the application will appear in the selected language. Choose a different language if you wish.

After your credentials have been verified, the dashboards to which you have access rights will appear.

Security

Not all answers and dashboards are accessible to all users. Roles, such as those described in the following table, determine which users have rights in accessing answers.

Main Menu

The main menu displays at the top of the application window. The following table describes the menu options.

Role Description

Executives (E) Need situational awareness and analytic insight into their utility organizations.

Analysts and Supervisors (S) Need to view cross-product data in a more detailed fashion than executives. They also need to take quick actions as needed.

Call Center Responsible for communicating with External Customers.

External Customers (or consumers)

Use portals to view events that affect them.

Menu Description

Dashboards Displays the My Dashboards page by default. From here, you can edit an existing dashboard or create a new one, depending on your logon privileges. You can also navigate to available product dashboards.

Answers Displays the start page for Answers. From here you can edit an existing Answers request or create a new Answers request, based on your login privileges. See Using the Answers Page for more information.

More Products Allows you to select and start other products installed on your system.

The options displayed for this menu vary depending on your system’s configuration.

Settings Displays two menu options:

Administration: Allows you to display and edit application settings.

Note that only authorized users will have access to this option.

My Account: Allows you to display and edit settings and preferences for your user account.

Log Out Logs you out of the current session.

Using the Answers Page

The Answers page displays a navigation panel on the left side of the screen. The navigation panel contains two tabs:

Catalog: Displays a list of available folders where Oracle Utilities Advanced Spatial and Operational Analytics Answers are saved, based on Shared, Spatial, and Non-Spatial configurations.

Dashboard: Displays a list of dashboards, grouped by type. Use the folder icons to drill down within a dashboard group.

A toolbar at the top of each navigation tab contains the following icons:

Allows you to create a new request.

Allows you to create a new dashboard prompt.

Allows you to create and save a filter.

Allows you to edit and reorganize content in the Presentation Catalog.

Printing Dashboard Data

Primary options for printing dashboard data include:

• Printing the complete dashboard page

• Printing the individual dashboard views How to Print the Complete Dashboard Page

Click the Print icon and select either PDF or HTML. A browser window opens displaying the contents in the selected format. Use the Print option available from the browser window to print the contents.

How to Print the Individual Dashboard Views

In the dashboard view, click Print and select either PDF or HTML. A browser window opens displaying the contents in the selected format. Use the Print option available from the browser window to print the dashboard view.

Downloading Dashboard Data

Primary options for downloading dashboard data include:

• Downloading a complete dashboard page to a briefing book

• Downloading component dashboard data

How to Download the Dashboard Page to a Briefing Book

Click the Add to Briefing Book icon to add the dashboard page content to a briefing book.

How to Download Component Dashboard Data

In the dashboard view, click Download and select the output format for the view data. The following table lists the available output formats.

Using Page Options

Some dashboard pages support additional options available from the Page Options menu.

Examples of Page Options include:

Apply Saved Selections: Allows you to select and apply a Saved Selection.

Save Current Selections > For Me...: Allows you to create a new Saved Selection based on your current settings.

Save Current Selections > Edit Saved Selections and Defaults...: Allows you to delete or rename a Saved Selection or designate a Saved Selection as the default for the current dashboard page.

Clear My Selections: Clears any unsaved selections.

Create Bookmark Link: Creates a bookmark for this dashboard page and adds it to your browser’s favorites or bookmarks list.

Ending the User Session

Click the Log Out link in the top right corner of the page to log out of the current user session.

This chapter describes Oracle Utilities Meter Data Management Business Intelligence dashboard content. The dashboards are grouped by the following analytics:

MDM Performance Analytics

MDM Usage Analytics

MDM Performance Analytics

The MDM Performance Analytics’ standard set of dashboards provide Oracle Utilities Meter Data Management performance key performance indicators (KPIs). You can access these dashboards by going to Interactive Dashboards and selecting MDM Performance Analytics.

MDM Performance Analytics contains six standard dashboard pages:

Overview

The Overview dashboard provides a snapshot view of Oracle Utilities Meter Data Management data.

Percent of Normal Intervals: The Percent of Normal Intervals gauge shows the percent of the normal intervals that have been received. The gauge links to the quality dashboard for the same time period.

Percent of On-Time Intervals: The Percent of On-Time Intervals gauge shows the percent of the on-time intervals that have been received. The gauge links to the timeliness dashboard for the same time period.

Percent of Normal Intervals by Segment: The Percent of Normal Intervals by Segment table provides a breakdown of the normal intervals returned by a selected segment (e.g., .head end system, device type, manufacturer, city, postal code, etc.).

Percent On-Time Intervals by Segment: The Percent On-Time Intervals by Segment table provides a breakdown of the on-time intervals returned by a selected segment (e.g., .head end system, device type, manufacturer, city, postal code, etc.).

Quality

The Quality dashboard provides measures of quality of meter data.

Quality Distribution: The Quality Distribution report provides a pie chart with normal measurements counts as a percentage of total segmented by quality category.

Non-Normal Intervals: The Non-Normal Intervals report provides a bar chart with counts of non-normal interval data segmented by quality category.

Quality Analysis

The Quality Analysis report displays a table with various quality count values (e.g., normal measurements count, normal interval %, edited measurements count, etc.).

Timeliness

The Timeliness dashboard provides reports of AMI timeliness data.

AMI Interval Timeliness Distribution: The AMI Interval Timeliness Distribution report provides a pie chart that displays the timeliness distribution of AMI intervals.

Late AMI Intervals: The Late AMI Intervals report provides a bar chart and table that contain the breakdown of late AMI intervals over time.

On-Time Analysis

The On-Time Analysis report provides a table with a breakdown of the timeliness data.

Estimation

The Estimation report provides a bar chart and table with estimated and user edited measurement quantity values.

MDM Usage Analytics

The MDM Usage Analytics’ standard set of dashboards provide Oracle Utilities Meter Data Management usage KPIs. You can access these dashboards by going to Interactive Dashboards and selecting MDM Usage Analytics.

Overview

The Overview dashboard displays gauges for the usage distribution and the usage summary details KPIs.

Usage Distribution: The Usage Distribution report shows the measured amount of usage quantity categorized by the usage group, by head end system, and by city.

Usage Summary: The Usage Summary report summarizes the measured usage quantities against a rolling period of months.

Usage Trend

The Usage Trend dashboard displays KPIs for trends across normal usage, estimated usage, and TOU mapped usage.

Usage Trend: The Usage Trend report tabulates the normal, estimated, and user edited measurement quantities against a rolling period of months.

Estimated Usage Trend: The Estimated Usage Trend report tabulates the estimated measurement quantities against a rolling period of months.

TOU Mapped Usage: The TOU Mapped Usage report tabulates the estimated measurement quantities against a rolling period of months.

Degree Days

The Degree Days report tabulates the heating and cooling degree days against a rolling period of months.

Usage by Month

The Usage by Month report provides a bar chart and table that display usage values for a month on a daily basis. A separate table and bar chart provides the same data over a three-month period for comparison.

Usage by Day

The Usage by Day report provides KPIs for daily usage values on an hourly basis. A separate table and bar chart provides the same data over a three-day period for comparison.

Usage Comparison

The Usage Comparison report compares usage data for two selected dimensions during a selected calendar month.
