What  is  the  Healthy  Bengal  Program?  

•  It  is  not  something  new.  

•  It  is  a  collabora)on  between  health-­‐  and  

wellness-­‐related  programs  and  clinics  that   already  exist  at  ISU.  

•  Representa)ves  from  these  programs  and  

clinics  are  working  together  to:    

– Promote  awareness  of  the  already  exis)ng  services  

– Create  opportuni)es  for  interdisciplinary  services,

•  Healthy  Bengal  Program  referral  form  for  the  

Pocatello  and  Idaho  Falls  campuses  

•  Mental  Health  Decision  Tree    

•  Healthy  Bengal  Wellness  Fair—Fall  2015  

– Included  all  student  wellness-­‐  and  health-­‐related  

services  

– Booths,  screening  services,  and  wellness  ac)vi)es

MAP-­‐IT:  Mobilize  

•  Determine  the  mission  and  vision  

–  Current  dra$  of  the  Healthy  Bengal  Program  mission  statement  and  goals:    

The  mission  of  the  Idaho  State  University  Healthy  Bengal  Program  is  to  

promote  the  health  and  wellness  of  the  Bengal  community:  students,  faculty,   staff,  and  their  families.  

Goal  #1:  The  Healthy  Bengal  Program  promotes  collabora)on  among  Idaho  

State  University  (ISU)  programs  and  clinics  that  offer  health-­‐  and  wellness-­‐ related  services  to  improve  the  health  of  the  Bengal  community.    

Goal  #2:  The  Healthy  Bengal  Program  creates  opportuni)es  for  services,  

educa)on,  and  research  among  the  ISU  health-­‐  and  wellness-­‐related  programs   and  clinics  faculty  and  students.  

•  Create  a  list  of  poten)al  partners  

–  Healthy  Bengal  Program  Coali)on  

•  New  members  joined  this  semester:  PT/OT;  Central  Academic  Advising  

•  Add  more  student  representa)on  for  2015  –  2016  

•  Roles  and  responsibili)es  

–  Wellness  Center  “chairing”  the  Coali)on  

–  Coali)on  members  provide  balanced  guidance,  feedback,  and  ideas

•  Assess  campus  needs  and  assets  (resources)  

to  get  a  sense  of  what  is  realis)c  to   accomplish.  

•  Collect  baseline  data  to  determine  your  

campus’s  unique  needs.  

– ISU  health  and  wellness  assessment—planning  is   in  progress  

•  Work  together  as  a  coali)on  to  set  priori)es.

steps  to  achieve  them  

–  The  Healthy  Bengal  Program  Coali)on  began  the  process  

of  segng  goals  and  developing  objec)ves  at  the  second   mee)ng  for  this  year.  

•  Consider  opportuni)es  for  interven)on  

•  Determine  how  to  measure  progress    

•  Each  objec)ve  needs  a  baseline  and  a  target  measure.  

•  Select  strategies  to  achieve  the  objec)ves.

members,  but  consider  having  a  single  point   of  contact  to  manage  the  process  to  ensure   that  tasks  are  accomplished.
