We offer evening and Saturday schedules, a traditional pace and an accelerated one, a broad range of majors and a flexible course load. You can tailor the Part-Time MBA Program to fit your goals and open up opportunities you may never have considered.

You will explore the latest business theory with leading thinkers in the field and overcome the challenges of putting theory into practice. You will develop the analytical skills and social acumen to inspire and influence others. Kellogg is a wonderful springboard for your career, but it‘s our culture — our collaborative spirit — that really sets us apart. It is one reason our graduates have been strengthening organizations and communities for more than 100 years. It is how we inspire our students to manage and lead with confidence and

conviction. It is what we mean when we say, “Think bravely.”

PROFESSIONAL

ADVANCEMENT AT AN

ACCELERATED PACE

An MBA has always been a big personal goal. Taking a year or two off to study sounded attractive, but from a career perspective, a part-time program made the most sense for me.

I work for a great company. I like what I do. What I really wanted was the higher-level knowledge and skills I need to advance in the career I already have. The Kellogg Part-Time Accelerated Option was incredibly attractive. It

doesn’t force you to fit into an ironclad MBA model. I already had a strong undergraduate foundation in the core disciplines, and in my job I hone those

skills daily. The Accelerated Option lets me dive deeper into electives in

the areas where I need more development. The Saturday classes make commuting from Dallas a workable option.

Kellogg’s emphasis on collaboration and teamwork also plays directly into my goal to expand my thinking and perspectives. In my job, I’m very numbers driven. My classmates, who come from an incredible variety of industries and functions, add dimensions to problem solving I would never have considered.

A DIFFERENT KIND

OF LEADER

Kellogg leaders are different. Our students arrive here with an intuitive understanding of what makes a great leader, and they graduate knowing when to step up and when to step back, when to speak out and when to listen, when to lead with an answer and when to open with a question.

Our strong core curriculum emphasizes general management because we believe well-rounded managers make better leaders. When you understand how each part of an organization contributes to the success of the whole, you can bring out the very best in your team.

(14)

THE KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS

TO ACHIEVE YOUR VISION

I had ended my six-year enlistment with the Army and secured a civilian position with the Navy.

My vision for my future included creating some type of nonprofit organization that would help veterans and their families meet the special kinds of challenges they often face. I knew an MBA would give me the knowledge and skills I’d need to actually launch that kind of entrepreneurial venture.

But I wanted more than a degree. I wanted the experience of earning it, a program that would push me to excel much like the military had. Kellogg has delivered that on so many levels. The team atmosphere allows us to contribute

where we are strong and rely on others who have complementary skills. There’s a focus here on entrepreneurship and strategy that aligns directly with my vision, and of course Kellogg is top of the tier in marketing.

I came in from the military confident in my leadership capabilities. Kellogg has shown me a different side of leadership — the power of collaboration, different ways to motivate people, how to inspire them to share your vision. I’ve learned

ENGAGE FEARLESSLY.

LEARN BY DOING.

In settings that closely mirror the corporate world, Kellogg coursework and team projects challenge you to make critical connections between academic theory and real-world practice. When you engage fearlessly in this supportive environment, you can learn as much from falling short of the ideal as you do from your unqualified successes.

At Kellogg, you will work closely with faculty members and fellow students to explore innovative ideas in management and apply them directly to critical business issues. Working in teams, you will build the strong communication

(21)

19

Within the curriculum and well beyond, you will encounter life- and career-changing opportunities. You’ll reflect and learn from every experience. Intensive academic experiences such as Global Initiatives in Management connect students to business challenges and global issues. The innovative, highly specialized Asset Management Practicum, in which students take on the roles of analysts and managers for one of Kellogg’s four student-run portfolios, provides exposure to cutting-edge practices and direct connections to alumni professionals in the field.

Beyond the curriculum, but inextricably tied to it, are events and conferences. Organized by students, these events attract world-class speakers and

participants who engage directly with students on critical topics and emerging trends. Student teams collaborate to compete in programs like the annual Kellogg Cup business plan competition. Students also take on pro bono consulting work with local nonprofits to hone their leadership skills.

(22)

IMMEDIATE RETURN

AND LONG-TERM VALUE

A classmate and I were chatting recently about how we’re leveraging our Kellogg MBA educations. You often hear people talking about ROI, but my personal experience has been that the value lies more in the intangibles — how I’ve learned to be a better communicator, to work more effectively as a team member, how to know when it’s my time to step up and take the lead. Those distinctive Kellogg qualities — communication, collaboration, leadership — have become embedded in me, and I’m a better person for it.

My Kellogg education has proven immediately valuable at work. In my current job, for example, I have responsibility for reviewing corporate advertising

campaigns from a strategic perspective. As a direct result of my advertising

strategy class, I can see beyond the creative execution of a campaign and focus specifically on whether or not the advertising delivers the desired consumer benefit.

In other courses, like global marketing, however, I’m learning principles and frameworks that are beyond the scope of my present position. I know those will be very critical to my long-term career growth.

THOSE DISTINCTIVE KELLOGG QUALITIES — COMMUNICATION,

COLLABORATION, LEADERSHIP — HAVE BECOME EMBEDDED

IN ME, AND I’M A BETTER PERSON FOR IT.

Approximately one out of four Kellogg faculty members were born and educated abroad, and many others have studied or taught at universities outside the United States.

Global issues are woven into every course, and Kellogg offers numerous other

opportunities to expand your global perspective.

GLOBAL INITIATIVES IN MANAGEMENT.

In this intensive global business leadership course, teams of classmates, each with a faculty adviser, create and engage in a challenging eight-week curriculum on campus that culminates in two weeks of international travel and field experience in the country or region of study. Participation builds valuable leadership skills and a keener awareness of the global business environment.

GLOBAL LAB.

In this popular course, four to five students complete an international consulting project for a host company that culminates in two weeks of on-site research and a presentation to senior management. Past projects have taken students to Ghana, New Zealand, Egypt and other nations around the world.

KELLOGG INNOVATION NETWORK (KIN).

The KIN Global Summit engages business executives, government officials and academic thought leaders in active dialogue to develop solutions for critical global issues. Kellogg students who take the opportunity to work on research projects related to these challenges are invited not only to present their research projects, but also to attend KIN Global as full delegates.

INTERNATIONAL BUSINESS MAJOR.

The Kellogg International Business major, one of the school’s most popular majors, builds a deep understanding of the international dimensions of business operations and management in finance, marketing, organizations and management strategy.

MEMBERSHIP IN THE

GLOBAL KELLOGG NETWORK

FROM THE START

I realized the sheer power of the Kellogg alumni network very early in my Part-Time MBA Program studies. I was working at one of the world’s leading advertising agencies, and although I enjoyed my work at the agency, I wanted to redirect my career toward brand management in a marketing organization. With a year still left before earning my degree, I set my sights on working at Kraft and reached out to some Kellogg alumni who worked there to learn more

about the company and to explain why I was interested. Two of them wrote

unsolicited recommendations to HR on my behalf — as did a fellow Kellogg student, who also works there.

This is the power of the global Kellogg network: instant access to people of influence who will go out of their way to share information and offer guidance. I
