Open Class

Exhibit Hall Entries – Monday, July 19, 5:00 pm – 7:00 pm

Pickup & Release – Saturday, July 24, 11:30 am – 2:00 pm

Animal show dates are listed with each class in fairbook, open

class animals are taken home immediately after each show.

Open Class

Exhibit Hall Exhibits must be entered on colored Youth or Adult entry forms and must have matching color entry tags attached to the exhibit.

Premiums for all Open Class Exhibits: Blue $3.00, Red $2.00, White $1.00

ARTS AND CRAFTS

Division 1

Enter in Exhibit Hall on Monday, July 19, 5:00 pm – 7:00 pm a) Articles will not be accepted on entry day after 11:30 p.m.

b) Articles will be judged for artistic qualities, general appearance and suitability to purpose. c) Articles must be work of exhibitor.

d) Articles previously exhibited cannot be entered for premiums. e) No articles may be entered under more than one number. f) No number paintings may be exhibited.

g) ALL FINE ARTS/PHOTOS MUST BE EQUIPPED FOR HANGING.

h) May enter up to 5 different entries per person per class in Arts & Crafts

Arts & Crafts

Classes

1. Oil, Acrylic, Watercolor, Drawing or other medium, must be equipped for hanging. NO larger than 26” x 26”.

2. Article made of scrap materials

3. Article made by resident of Hester Home 4. Leather Article

5. Article made from metal that has been tooled, etched or painted or jewelry made of metal.

6. Decorative items such as dolls, flowers, candles, jewelry, feathers, liquid resin, models, jars or any other decorative item

16. Kid’s Corner – Kids in the 2nd Grade and younger

who are not enrolled in 4-H including Clover Kids may exhibit up to 10 items in Kids Corner. These items will not be judged; however, each exhibit will receive a $1 premium, if entered as an open class entry.

BEST IN COUNTY PHOTOGRAPHY CONTEST -

One color print or black and white print will

be judged “Best of Show” in Open Class at the

2021 Dundy County Fair. This photograph

may then be entered in the "Best in County"

photography contest at the 2022 Nebraska

State Fair.

17. Photography Exhibit – No more than 5 exhibits per exhibitor. Photos must be matted, mounted or framed and 5” x 7” or 8”x10” in size.

18. Theme Print – 2021 Theme - “Close-Up” - one per

exhibitor. Photo must be matted, or mounted and framed ready to hang, 5”x 7” or 8”x10” in size.

Foods

Division 2

Enter in Exhibit Hall on Monday, July 19, 5:00 pm – 7:00 pm. All of the articles must be the work of the exhibitor. All work must be complete. No article(s) may compete for more than one premium. Food items that need refrigeration will be disqualified. You may pick up your extra food any time after Wednesday morning. May enter up to 5 different

entries per person per class in foods. Baked Foods

Canning

Fruits and vegetables will not be opened. All other goods may be opened at discretion of the judge.

**NEW** Processing Methods - current USDA processing methods must be followed. Jams, preserves & marmalades,

fruit, tomatoes & pickled vegetables must be processed in a boiling water bath, (tomatoes may be processed in a pressured canner). All non-acid vegetables, salsa and meats must be processed in a pressure canner. Spoilage disqualifies entries. Paraffin should not be used on jams, jellies, & marmalades. Standard canning jars must be used.

Enter in Exhibit Hall on Monday, July 19, 5:00 pm – 7:00 pm. Articles previously exhibited cannot be entered for premiums. May enter up to 5 different entries per person per class in needlework.

BEST IN COUNTY QUILT CONTEST

One quilt will be judged "Best in County" by the fair judges. This article may then be entered in the "Best in County" quilt contest at the Nebraska State Fair. The "Best in County" quilt must be entered by a Dundy County resident.

BEST IN COUNTY TEXTILE ARTS CONTEST

One article of textile arts will be judged "Best in County" by the fair judges. This article may then be entered in the "Best in County" textile arts contest at the Nebraska State Fair. The "Best in County" textile arts must be entered by a Dundy County resident.

Flowers

Division 4

Enter in Exhibit Hall on Monday, July 19, 5:00 pm – 7:00 pm fresh flowers will be allowed to enter on Tuesday Morning but must be tagged and in place by 11:30. All flowers must be grown by the exhibitor (with the exception of the roadside bouquet and dried arrangement) and stem must have its own attached foliage. Horticulture specimens and collections will be displayed in containers provided by flower show exhibit for uniformity. Classes may be divided by judge, if 3 or more of 1 kind in class. Flower show superintendents not responsible for breakage or loss. Only 1 entry per person per class in

flowers.

4-H Animals may NOT be used for open class. Open class will be showed after the 4-H show.

Enter animal on show day with Extension Staff, class size will depend on number of entries.

Animals to be taken home right after show.

Only 1 entry per person per class in animals.

Division 9 – Animals

Class

1. Dog Obedience Class - Shown on Monday, July 19, 8:00 am at the covered show arena. All dogs must be

immunized with DHL, Parvo and rabies vaccine. A photocopy documenting all current vaccinations must be available to staff before the show.

2. Poultry - Shown on Monday, July 19, 1:00 p.m. Exhibit Hall 3. Rabbits – Shown on Monday, July 19, 1:00 p.m. Exhibit Hall

4. Cats – Shown on Monday, July 19, 2:00 pm in the Exhibit Hall. Cats shall be free of fleas, ticks, ear mites, worms and other parasites and infectious diseases. Cats are required to have current rabies and distemper vaccinations.

Documentation must be available to staff before the show. No expectant or nursing mother cats may be entered. 5. Companion Animal – Shown on Monday, July 19, 2:00 pm in the Exhibit Hall. Other companion animals not listed

6. Llama obstacle course - Shown on Thursday, July 22, 8:30 am, at the covered show arena
