What’s New in WinQuery Version 16
WinQuery 16 has been enhanced to include new features we hope you will find helpful and easy to understand.
New Feature Highlights for Version 16:
VoIP Features:
Alternate phone number dialing. Use the VoIP softphone to help track down respondents at alternate phone numbers in the sample record while leaving the primary phone number intact. The primary phone number can be substituted with the alternate number if desired.
New VoIP auto disposition setting to automatically disposition calls or allow the interviewer to disposition calls.
Interviewing Features:
Interviewers can now view the sample attempt number and last dialing disposition for the current record at any time during the interview from the Conduct Interview menu. Previously, interviewers could review the history of the record before dialing the number but not during the interview.
Make Note for Next Interviewer feature expanded to display multiple lines of notes to be entered and displayed for the next interviewer. The note can be viewed/edited while interviewing and reset using a new “Clear” button. You can now have up to 99 answer items for Numeric Closed End and Grouped Rating Closed End questions
in Conduct Interview. The previous limit was 30 answer items.
The Grouped Rating Closed End question has been resized and reengineered to automatically move to the next item to be rated upon answer selection.
New study setting to allow halting of the over quota sample search in Conduct Interview. This allows the supervisor to then exit all interviewers from a particular sample file and run Management|Sample|Suspend Over-Quota Sample to remove all over quota sample records that exist. When this item is not selected over quota sample records will be removed as they are encountered.
Limit the Number of Answers Allowed for Multiple Choice Closed End Questions:
Specify the maximum number of answers allowed during interviewing for a Multiple Choice Closed End question without the need to specify any conditional logic.
Interviewer Notes for Export Responses to Excel®:
Interviewer notes can now be included when exporting responses to Excel.
New Review Open End Data Features:
Larger font size of the text being reviewed and the ability to increase or decrease the font size while reviewing. Ability to review open ends by selected respondents. A period has been added as an allowed separator
between respondents, in addition to a comma.
“Back” button to view and modify previously reviewed respondents.
Task switching ability added allowing you to switch to other functions in WinQuery while maintaining the current review open end data session.
View Sample Elements on the Callback Screen:
Any sample element can be viewed on the callback screen for the current callback. This item can be engaged in Options|System (Study) Preferences.
New Clickable Hyperlink Available in Conduct Interview to Open a Web URL:

After opening the specified hyperlink web page and completing the web portion, the interviewer returns to Conduct Interview to proceed with the survey still in progress.
QueryWeb Designer Features:
QueryWeb Designer can be opened directly from a new WinQuery toolbar shortcut or using the new
Management|Design for QueryWeb menu item. This makes designing a WinQuery study for QueryWeb a snap. New Average Length report available in QueryWeb online management to help identify falsifiers.
Expanded VoIP Alternate Phone Number Dialing
Interview|Conduct Interview|VoIP
Conduct Interview includes a softphone (same as digital phone or an Internet phone) to complete VoIP calling. You can now use the VoIP softphone to help track down respondents at alternate phone numbers in the sample record while leaving the primary phone number intact. Input the alternate number in the VoIP Phone number field to dial the alternate phone number.
The primary phone number can be substituted with the alternate number if desired by selecting Call substitute phone number on the Halt Interview screen.

When Auto disposition is engaged the VoIP softphone automatically recognizes no answers, busies, disconnects/bad numbers, and fax/computer tones and dispositions appropriately. When Auto disposition is not engaged, the interviewer must choose the appropriate disposition for the call.
See the WinQuery online Help topic “VoIP” which contains more detailed information about the VoIP interviewing feature.

Example of Grouped Rating Closed End Question
Grouped Rating Closed End Question Resized and Reengineered in Conduct Interview
Interview|Conduct Interview
The Grouped Rating Closed End question has been resized and reengineered in Conduct Interview for more efficient and effective interviewing.

Spacing has been adjusted for answer items and rating labels to more effectively make use of the interviewing screen area.
New Study Setting to Allow Halting of Over Quota Sample Search in Conduct Interview
Options|System (Study) Preferences|Sample
New study setting to allow halting of the over quota sample search in Conduct Interview. This allows the supervisor to then exit all interviewers from a particular sample file and run Management|Sample|Suspend Over-Quota Sample to remove all over quota sample records that exist. This feature is useful for studies with a large number of quota cells containing sample element quota rejection.
Select Allow halting of over quota sample search in Options|System (Study) Preferences|Sample to engage this feature.
The following message is displayed in Conduct Interview when this item is engaged and 40 over quota sample records are encountered during the sample search.
Select Search sample again to continue searching the sample file for records that are not over quota. Select Exit interviewing to exit the study.
When this item is not selected, over quota sample records will be removed as they are encountered during dialing in Conduct Interview.
Ability to Limit the Number of Answers Allowed for Multiple Choice Closed End Questions

Questionnaire|Multi/Single tab.
Choose Multiple response on the Multi/Single tab then select Specify maximum answers and input the maximum number of answers allowed for the question.
The following message will appear if more than the maximum number of answers is selected at the specified question during the interview. The interviewer will also be prevented from continuing to the next question until the appropriate number of answers is selected.
Interviewer Notes Available in Export Responses to Excel
File|Export Responses to Excel
Interviewer notes can now be included when exporting responses to Excel. This is useful for including important notes about the respondent captured by the interviewer. Select Include interviewer notes in the File|Export Responses to Excel window to include any interviewer notes that exist when creating the Excel file.

Improved Review Open End Data Feature with Adjustable Font Size, Respondent Filtering &
“Back” Button

See the WinQuery online Help topic “Review Open End Data” for more detailed information about the Review Open
Option to View Sample Elements on the Callback Screen
