Bivins Foundation Non‐Exempt Qualifications Summary Score Unsatisfactory 00‐112 Some Deficiencies Evident 113‐157 Satisfactory 158‐190 Exceptional 191‐225 Purpose of this position The primary purpose of the ADON is to assist the DON in planning, developing, organizing and directing the overall operation of the Nursing Department in accordance with current federal, state and local requirements that govern our facility and as may be directed by the Administrator and/or the Director of Health Services, to ensure that the highest degree of quality care is maintained at all times. The incumbent of this position must be a graduate of an accredited school of nursing and hold and maintain a current license in the State of Texas as a registered Nurse (RN). A minimum of three years experience as a supervisor in a hospital, rehabilitation, long‐term care facility or other related health care field is preferred. Knowledge of nursing and medical practices and procedures, as well as laws, regulations and guidelines that pertain to long‐term care is required. This person needs exceptional organization skills, sound judgment, above average communication skills, enthusiasm and flexibility to maintain staff motivation. • Demonstrate competency in skill and techniques necessary to care for residents’ needs as identified through resident assessment and described in the Care Plan. • Have strong leadership, interpersonal and management skills as well as be able to work as a team with strong interpersonal skills. • Must maintain CEU's required to maintain licensure in the State of Texas. • Must obtain a yearly T.B. test. • Must possess a high degree of initiative and motivation. • Must be able to work effectively with residents, families and employees. • Must be willing to comply with all regulations and standards of our foundations. • Must be in good health and be willing to accept and work toward progress, change and high standards of accomplishments for self and others. • Keep a current CPR certification for health care providers. • Must be able to see and hear or use prosthetics that will enable these senses to function adequately to assure that the requirements of this position can be fully met. • Attends and participates in professional activities and programs.

Job Summary As the ADON, you will assume the responsibility of assisting the DON for planning, organizing, directing and training for the comprehensive operation of the Nursing Department in order to meet the total needs of the residents and to provide a quality service that will fulfill the objective of the facility and the nursing department. Must demonstrate personal and professional responsibility and promote an atmosphere of mutual trust, acceptance, recognition and respect. Must have a working knowledge of the Medicare/Medicaid programs as well as the state regulations for a licensed rehabilitation care facility. Director of Nursing (DON)
13. Ensures the department manual is current at all times and reflects the day‐to‐day nursing care procedures used by the facility. Develops and periodically updates the Administrator on objectives and statement of philosophy with the support of the nursing staff. 14. Develops methods for coordinating nursing services with other resident services to ensure the continuity of the resident's total regimen of care, i.e., internal departments, external consultants. 15. Assists in determining department staffing needs to meet the total nursing needs of the residents. 11. Coordinates the completion of the MDS by the Unit Managers and other disciplines. Integrates the MDS process with the quality indicators. 9. Assists in coordinating the planning, developing, organizing, implementing, evaluating and directing the functions of the unit, in accordance with current rules, regulations and guidelines that govern the department. 7. Reports to work on time and commences work activities on time. 8. Promotes safe environment and exhibits safety while performing assigned duties. 10. Assists the development, maintenance and updating of written policies and procedures that govern the day‐to‐ day functions of the department with the support of the nursing staff.

12. Coordinates with A/R Accounting Assistant and the Health Information Management the completion of the 3618's, 3619's, 3652's and any other documentation that is required in accordance with their appropriate timeframes. 16. Ensures administrative duties such as completing medical forms, reports, evaluations, studies, charting, etc., are completed by the nursing staff. 17. Serves on, participates in and attends various committees of the facility such as Infection Control, Quality Assurance and Assessment, Ethics committee, etc. and provides written/oral reports of such committee meetings to the Director of Health Services as directed or may become necessary. Evaluates and implements recommendations from established committees as they may pertain to nursing services.29. Assists in setting and establishing goals for the facility and departments annually and assists in their accomplishments. 30. Reviews policies and procedures and makes such recommendations when deemed necessary to improve the operations of the facility to the DON, Administrator and the Director of Health Services. 31. Assists in preparing and overseeing the annual budget for the department. 25. Reviews and develops a plan of correction for deficiencies noted during survey inspections and provides a written copy of such plan to the Director of Health Services and ombudsman representative as required. 22. Ensures that a written plan of care (preliminary and comprehensive) for each resident is maintained. Ensures infection control requirements are maintained. 23. Assists in the budgetary process for nursing services with the assistance of the unit managers. 21. Makes unit rounds to ensure that all personnel are performing their work assignments in accordance with acceptable nursing standards. 26. Makes routine inspections of the facility to assure that established policies and procedures are being implemented and followed. 27. Assists in the overall recruitment, employment and discharge of the department staff with the Administrator, DON, Director of Human Resources and the Director of Health Services. 28. Assists in coordinating all disputes and complaints concerning personnel or residents and family members with diplomacy but, firmness with the Administrator, Director of Human Resources and Director of Health Services as necessary. 18. Provides the DON, Administrator and the Director of Health Services with information relative to the nursing needs of the residents and the department’s ability to meet those needs. 19. Assists in planning in‐service training for nursing staff to ensure that they maintain a high level of knowledge of techniques and practices. 20. Provides leadership training that includes the administrative and supervisory principles essential for the Weekend Supervisors and nursing staff. 24. Represents the facility in dealings with outside agencies, including governmental agencies and third party payers, or provides an authorized representative of the facility when unable to do so.
