Features/Benefits

Stem seals

Delta and lip seals made of PTFE are incorporated in the upper stem area. PTFE is a low friction, non-deteriorating material that is not subject to rapid decompression explosion. Most valve sizes have a provision for the injection of sealant to establish a secondary seal.

Trunnion supported ball allows low torque operation

Regardless of size or pressure rating, every Cameron ball valve is trunnion-mounted. High strength forged stems are located in PTFE-impregnated stainless steel bearings for smooth, accurate opera-tions. Trunnion mounted stems absorb the thrust from line pressure, preventing excess friction between the ball and seats, so even at full rated working pressure, operating torque stays low.

Double block and bleed

Whether in the open or closed position, pressure on each side of the ball is blocked from the body cavity by the seat ring. The body cavity can then be blown down or drained through the body port. When you block and bleed a Cameron Ball Valve the following can be accomplished:

Test Valve Integrity:

When Cameron Ball Valve body is vented this verifies the seat seals integrity. This test can be preformed with the valve open or closed prior to

facility maintenance. By verifying valve integrity unforeseen valve leakage can be prevented.

Replace Stem Seal:

In the unlikely event of a stem seal needing replacement, it can be accom-plished safely with the valve in service. With the body cavity vented all line pressure to the stem area is also vented. (Please contact your Cooper Cameron Valves Representative to obtain mainte-nance procedures.)

Safeguard Downstream Work:

With the valve closed and the vent fitting open, the possibility of the line media reaching a work area is removed.

Fire tested for safety

Cameron Ball Valves can be supplied to API 6FA and API 607 standards. Fire test programs are ongoing. If indus-try standards change or customer require-ments vary from above, call your Cooper Cameron Valves representative.

Secondary seat seal

The sealant injection system provides a fast, simple way of restoring tight shut-off if any foreign object should damage the sealing surfaces. The injection system can also be used for routine flushing of the seat ring area in services where this may be required.

Stem seals

A backseated stem and three stem seals are incorporated in the upper stem area. One is a PTFE gasket and two are O-rings. Valve sizes 6" and larger can be provided with a provision for the injection of sealant to establish a sec-ondary seal.

In service since the early ‘60s,

the standard seat arrangement

has proven itself to be of sound

design. This arrangement is

available in all Cameron Ball

Valves and includes all features

and benefits indicated on the

preceding pages.

Features/Benefits

Upstream sealing

At low pressure, seat-to-ball contact is maintained by Bellville springs. At higher pressures, seat contact is reinforced by line pressure.

Automatic internal relief of body pressure

Relief of excess body cavity pressure is automatic, avoiding dangerous pressure build up. Any pressure exceeding down-stream line pressure by approximately 200 psi pushes the downstream seat away from the ball, allowing the pressure to relieve into the pipeline.

Rotating seat rings

A standard in the Welded Body Ball Valve sizes 14" and larger, the Cameron Ball Valve incorporates the exclusive rotating seat feature. Both seats rotate 15 degrees each time the valve is closed, exposing a new pinch point, and evenly distributing seat wear.

Distribute seat wear

The pinch point is the area of the seat insert that experiences an increased veloc-ity when the valve is seated close and unseated open. This is where the seat seal experiences the most wear, and in most valves where a leak path begins. By rotat-ing the seat rrotat-ing, the pinch point wear is distributed throughout the seat seal pro-viding a substantial increase of seat life.

Prevents build up

In some services a valve can experience harmful sediment build up around the seat ring. This can cause the seat to stick and not seal properly. The Cameron ball valve with the exclusive rotating seat can han-dle these harsher services. As the seat rotates it will break up or prevent any build up. Designed to accommodate a

variety of applications and

prefer-ences, the double acting and

metal-to-metal seat arrangements

are available on both the Welded

body and Bolted body styles

shown on the preceding pages.

Double Acting

Conventional upstream sealing

With the upstream pressure, the bi-direc-tional body-to-seat seal is pushed toward the front sealing face of its retaining pocket. This creates an unbalanced pres-sure annulus between the body seal and the inside diameter of the seat insert, forc-ing the metal seat against the ball.

Downstream sealing

With the downstream pressure, the bi-directional body-to-seat seal is pushed toward the back sealing face of its retain-ing pocket. This creates an unbalanced pressure annulus between the outside diameter of the seat insert and the body seal diameter, also forcing the seat insert against the ball.

Metal-to-Metal

Wide metal face seat

The unique primary seal is a wide, metal-face profile machined into the body of the seat. Unlike many other metal sealing valves which have a narrow metal contact area, the Cameron design ensures full metal-to-metal bubble-tight sealing in both directions and does not rely on sec-ondary soft seal prone to damage.

Elastomer seal

A small elastomer seal held by the seat ring performs two services. It wipes the surface of the ball to prevent surface damage while providing a bubble-tight

seal at low pressures. See page 68 fortechnical spec.

Doubles as block valve

Because the launcher has all the features of a standard Cameron ball valve, it can double as a main block valve in virtually any system.

Field preferred

The speed and ease of the Cameron launching system make it the preferred method among field personnel.

Wide variety of sizes available

The Cameron launcher is available in sizes to accommodate spherical pigs from 2" to 30" in diameter.

Accommodates multiple spheres

The launcher valve can be built with an extended barrel, enabling the operator to stack multiple pigs in the barrel and launch them simply by operating the valve.

Additional options available

The following options can help tailor the launcher to a variety of applications: manual gear operators; pneumatic, hydraulic, gas-over-oil and electric opera-tors; addition of pup pipe (transition pipe).

Proven by years of service, the

Cameron in-line sphere launcher

offers many advantages over

traditional launcher systems.

Features/Benefits

Cost effective

The launcher’s unique design greatly reduces the cost of constructing a launch-ing system. This design combines three valves into one. A conventional design requires a main line block, launching, and kicker valve. The Cameron In-line launcher does the job of both the main line block, and launching valve. The pig is inserted directly into the main flow line eliminating the need for a kicker valve. Eliminating the need for two valves relat-ed piping and supports produces an over-all cost savings.

Easy installation

The Cameron design is simple and easy to install. In an existing gathering system, the Cameron launching valve is easily inserted without major fabrication.

1. Valve is closed. 2. Valve body is vented. 3. Hinged door opens to load

sphere.

4. Extended barrel allows several spheres to be loaded. 5. Door is closed.

6. Valve body is re-energized. 7. Valve is opened.

8. Spherical pig in launch position. LAUNCHING SEQUENCE (TOP VIEW)

Quality Cameron accessories

are available to improve the

Cameron Ball Valve’s adaptability

to a wide variety of situations.

High head for remote operation

For situations in which the Cameron ball valve must be underground, the Cameron High Head makes the controls accessible above ground. Designed and constructed to withstand punishing environments, it has proven itself in uses all over the world for many years.

Subsea design offers important benefits

For the same reliable performance off-shore as on, the Cameron Welded Body Ball Valve is available with a coating and actuation designed specifically for the demands of a subsea environment.

Right angle improves flexibility

Cameron ball valves can be specified for tight spaces when fitted with a Cameron Right Angle Extension. The valve control is turned 90 degrees from its usual posi-tion, allowing more space at the top of the valve and better access by operators.

ball turns on carefully aligned bearings. The ball is fixed in position, but free to turn. Torque is so low that wrench opera-tion of valves through 6" bore size is practical. When power actuation is desired, much smaller actuators are needed.

Easy to maintain

The valve can be completely disassem-bled in the field for replacement of seats or for a complete overhaul. Seats can be replaced quickly without special tools.

Actuation-friendly

A variety of actuator types can be easily installed including pneumatic, hydraulic, diaphragm, vane, electro-mechanical and electro-hydraulic. Cooper Cameron Valves can provide a total package of valves and actuators to meet your needs.

Positive double block and bleed operation

The pressure-actuated seats and bleed fittings allow double block and bleed operation. When used for block and bleed, this feature permits the valve to take the place of two valves. It also allows the operator to check up and downstream sealing by installing pressure-releasing tool to bleed body pressure.

Fire tested for safety

All DynaSeal 370CT valves are qualified under API standard 6FA. The pocketed seat contributes to its unusually good fire test characteristics. Should the soft seats be destroyed by fire, the metal shoulder acts as a secondary metal-to-metal seal until maintenance can be performed.

Features/Benefits

Pressure-actuated seats

This valve uses pressure-actuated seats with locked-in non-metallic face seals.

To assure tight sealing at low pressures, special wave springs force the seats against the ball. At higher pressures, the upstream seat is forced against the ball by the pressure working across the differen-tial between the area of the seat insert and the seat O-ring. The higher the pressure, the tighter the seal.

Engineered for heavy duty, mainte-nance-free performance and manufactured in a variety of body and seal materials, the DynaSeal 370D4 is commonly select-ed for many specializselect-ed applications.

Features/Benefits

Bi-directional flow

This valve uses pressure-actuated seats with locked-in non-metallic face seals. To assure tight sealing at low pressures, spe-cial wave springs force the seats against the ball. At higher pressures, the upstream seat is forced against the ball by the pres-sure working across the differential between the area of the seat insert and the seat O-ring. The higher the pressure, the tighter the seal.

Secondary seat seal injection

In the event of damage to the valve seat, sealant can be injected to temporarily seal the valve until service can be performed.

Positively retained stem/stem sealant injection

To ensure safety, all DynaSeal 370D4 ball valves feature a positively retained stem, and provisions for injection of stem sealant.

Automatic body pressure relief

Seats will internally relieve excess body pressure.

Ball is held fast by trunnion, but free to turn easily at any pressure.

Pressure-actuated seat provides positive seal under all conditions. Seat is set into deep groove in its steel retainer, protected from erosion and foreign materials.

Stem is positively retained, cannot be removed with valve in service. Standard adapter flange for ease of automation.

Secondary seat sealant injection fittings.

Provisions for stem sealant injection. SD-11348 (p18)

The top-entry ball valve for

manifolds or other applications

where removing valves is difficult

or prohibitively expensive.

W-K-M DynaSeal®370E4 is a top entry design ball valve made to API 6D stan-dards. This design permits rebuilding while the valve is installed in the line. It is ideal for manifolds or other applica-tions where removing valves is difficult or prohibitively expensive. The DynaSeal 370E4 is made in API 6D classes 600, 900,

1500, 2500 and sizes from 2" through 8" x 6". Also, available as API 6A, 5000 in sizes 2 1/16" through 7 1/16" x 6".

Features/Benefits

Top entry construction

It is possible to replace seats, or all inter-nals, if ever necessary without removing the valve from the line. With this valve, it is practical to fabricate all-welded mani-folds without concern for possible valve repair or maintenance.

One-piece body resists line stresses

The DynaSeal 370E4 provides maximum resistance to distortion when compared to other designs. It meets or exceeds all strength requirements and yet is not as heavy as other similar valves.

Pressure-actuated seats

This valve uses pressure-actuated seats with locked-in non-metallic face seals. To assure tight sealing at low pressures, spe-cial C springs force the seats against the ball. At higher pressures, the upstream

seat is forced against the ball by the pres-sure working across the differential between the area of the seat insert and the seat O-ring. The higher the pressure, the tighter the seal.

Convenient three-way operating head

The three-way head is especially useful when it is necessary to mount the valve in tight quarters. A wrench lug is provided when valve is operated by a conventional wrench rather than a lever.

Precise open-closed positioning

The valve uses an external stop press fit-ted into the cover plate that mates with a stop plate on the stem. Both the stop and stop plate may be removed when installing actuators.

Automatic body pressure relief

Seats will internally relieve excess body pressure.

Positive double block and bleed operation

The pressure-actuated seats and bleed fit-tings allow double block and bleed opera-tion. When used for block and bleed, this feature permits the valve to take the place of two valves. It also allows the operator to check up and downstream sealing by installing pressure-releasing tool to bleed body pressure.

Emergency seat renewal

In the event of damage to the face seal, sealant can be injected into the valve to provide a temporary seal. In small valves it is injected through the drain fitting. In valves, larger than 4" bores, injection fit-tings are provided at each seat location.

The W-K-M floating ball valve

design expands further into

the oilfield market with the

DynaSeal 210A ball valve. This

rugged, but economical ductile

iron ball valve is the valve of

choice for threaded end oilfield

applications where carbon

steel body material is not a

requirement.

The W-K-M 210A ball valve is a two piece design with ductile iron body and tailpiece. Even though this valve is eco-nomical, it includes many of the premium

design features found in the W-K-M car-bon steel 310C and 310D ball valves. It is available in 1" to 4"x3" sizes. Working pressures offered are 1,000, 1,500 and 2,000 psi. Maximum pressure ratings are 2000 psi, 1" to 3"x2" valves, and 1500 psi for the 3"x3" and 4"x3" valves. This valve is primarily used in the Oilfield market, typically chosen for the following applications:

• Production wing valves on low pres-sure gas wells

• Production flow lines

• Production gathering systems for water,

oil, and gas

• Gas blow down service

• Tank batteries for storage or production • Frac water tanks

Features/Benefits

Locking capability is standard

Color coded working pressures for safety

The lock plates are color coded so pressure ratings are quickly identified (1,000 psi - green, 1,500 psi - blue & 2,000 psi -red) .

Superior stem journal design prevents stem seizure

The stem is designed with two internal O-ring grooves located on either side of a shallow grease groove. The top O-ring is a weather seal while the bottom one seals the stem bore against the line media from the stem bore. The stem gasket pro-vides a backup seal.

The shallow groove between the O-rings provides three benefits: • prevents stem seizure • reduces torque

• provides a space for permanent lubricat-ing grease applied at the factory durlubricat-ing assembly.

This stem design provides long, trouble free service without the need for additional grease, but for those customers wanting additional assurance, a grease fitting is offered as an option.

Deep pocketed seats

The seat is recessed into a deep machined pocket which serves to surround and protect the seat on all sides. This design eliminates cold flow into the valve conduit where it can be damaged by the action of the ball or the flow medium. The result is extremely long service life.

Teflon body seal

A Teflon body seal is positioned between the line bore and tail piece threads isolating the threads from the line media.

Seal pin device provided as standard on 1000 psi, 2", 3" and 4" reduced port valves (210L).

A secondary seal pin device for applying tamper detection seals is provided on these three 1,000 psi valves. These valves (referred to as 210L) are a popular choice for production tank batteries where tamper detection seals are often required.

Fire tested seat design

The W-K-M DynaSeal 210A ball valves are qualified under API Standard 607. The pocketed seat, locked-in stem, and body/tailpiece designs give this valve unusually good fire-safe characteristics.
