Price and the quality of service are key factors when it comes to the supply of ready-mix concrete, mortar, aggregates, asphalt, cement and palletized building materials. Efficient transport management therefore is a strategic factor of success for building material producers and suppliers.

SyncroTESS is the ideal software solution for the optimized planning and dispatch in the building materials industry. The system ensures the best possible allocation of transport orders to vehicles. State-of-the-art optimization along with integrated real time planning and dispatch, availability-to-promise functionality supporting order entry as well as tactical pre-planning enable companies to optimize their entire transport logistics.

What SyncroTESS provides:

- cost reductions,

- improved service levels and

- increased planning quality and consistency.

SyncroTESS enables the dispatcher to achieve on-time and in-full deliveries as per the customer’s order. As part of the daily routine, the logistics management establishes whether:

- service levels can be met with fewer vehicles or

- the service level can be increased with the existing vehicle fleet.

This key feature of SyncroTESS allows producers and suppliers of building materials to immediately react to market trends contributing this way to the company’s success.

Benefits of optimized scheduling and dispatch using SyncroTESS:

Logistics cost savings of up to 15%, Purposeful control of cost and service levels, Reduced empty travelling,

Improved service level,

Optimized utilization of transport units,

Full support of bulk orders and industry delivery standards, Calculation of vendor management inventories in real time.

SyncroTESS can be individually and flexibly set-up to meet specific customer requirements. This is made possible by the modular design of the software. All relevant quality features of good planning and dispatch are supported by four SyncroTESS core modules:

- Real time optimization,

- Availability-to-promise check for order taking,

- Pre-planning and scenario management,

- Loading point and slot optimization.

Depending on individual requirements, these modules can be implemented separately or as one system. The system is easy to use and enables efficient communication between the truck driver and the dispatcher. Moreover, the software can also be seamlessly integrated into all existing IT environments.

The real time optimization application facilitates rapid reactions to any kind of unforeseen events, such as traffic jams, ad-hoc orders or changes to orders. To achieve this, the system re-schedules all orders and deliveries within a few seconds to include all new events that occurred. The easy-to-read graphical interface provides the dispatcher with clear and comprehensive recommendations for the most cost-efficient processing of all deliveries. This way, building material producers can increase their performance. The user is supported by the integrated Gantt chart and electronic map displaying truck schedules, eliminating the need for any external tool.

SyncroTESS provides the user with all the information required during the order taking process. This way, the system makes it possible to prevent undue over-booking of the fleet. Continuously updated information on the utilization level of trucks and loading points or plants allow the order taker to negotiate a suitable delivery time window with the customer. In a matter of seconds, while the very order is being entered, the system calculates the transport capacity requirement, taking all the relevant order details into consideration. The user maintains a constant overview of the entire order situation by means of the graphical representation of the order book.

The pre-planning function ensures optimized fleet configuration for the subsequent shifts or days. This is where schedulers can analyze the order book and prioritize orders according to business needs. At the same time, they can complete data relating to vehicle availability for the next day or shift. Using this information, the software calculates an optimized delivery schedule for the requested days. The scheduler controls the optimization by means of parameters, which help to define efficiency and service levels. Using these plans, SyncroTESS creates driver and truck rosters on request.

Whenever loading points or slots are relevant for the optimization of a delivery schedule, SyncroTESS takes these into account as part of the optimization. The optimization module covers, among other things, loading capacity and product stock levels, available loading equipment and restrictions imposed by the product (e.g. product A may not be loaded next to product B). SyncroTESS can be used to control the management at the gate house linking the truck schedules with the real time arrival of trucks and the transit time spend in the works.

In addition to the core modules, SyncroTESS provides:

Sound management decisions – business statistics

The best management decisions are always taken based upon well-founded information: SyncroTESS allows the user to utilize the comprehensive logistics data for KPIs and reports. In addition to the internal use, the SyncroTESS data can be accessed by third party business intelligence tools.

Straight-forward data administration – base data editor and

rule-based data modeling

The integrated base data editor simplifies the administration of data and facilitates rapid amendments to mass data. In addition, the rule-based data modeling feature makes it easier for users to model scenario data for use in everyday work. The data for „what if?“-scenarios can be created quickly. Time-consuming manual data changes of transport orders are now a thing of the past.

Integrated geographical information system – electronic maps

The integrated map window with map and satellite data shows the dispatchers the routes generated by the system alongside the orders and truck locations. With the use of a GPS system, the routes planned and those actually followed can be compared. All relevant dispatching decisions can also be made using the map view.

Tracking & tracing – a transparent supply chain

Tracking & tracing provides the user with the current status of the order and delivery execution. In doing so, the system takes into consideration both past and future orders. Deviations from the plan can be detected at an early stage and dealt with accordingly.

Reliable communication – telematic systems

Automatic communication between dispatchers, drivers and the system is supported by telematic systems (based on 3G, 2.5G, GPS etc.).

Depending on individual requirements, SyncroTESS can be adapted using the following add-ons:

IT integration – for quick integration into the existing IT landscape (ERP, batching computers, etc.)

Telematic integration – interfacing to in cab telematics

WEB integration – provision of delivery and truck schedule information in a web portal GIS routing/mapping – integration of external geographical information system (GIS) in SyncroTESS
