Press Data was established 24 years ago by Jerry Ward, the company’s Managing Director, and has become one of the UK's leading providers of media Intelligence, giving the highest levels of customer service, and remaining at the forefront in the delivery of press information. Our head office is in Edinburgh, with offices in London and Cardiff. We employ 45 members of staff, using the latest digital technology and specialist software.

Press Data is an independently owned company, employing media research and journalist staff. Our clients are top names in the UK - in government, business, finance and the public sector. Many of the country's major decision-makers read a Press Data product every day. Press Data’s News Monitoring operates 24 hours a day every day. As a successful

company operating across the UK in new media environments we maintain efficient technical solutions that enable our teams to work productively as well as providing our customers with easy-to-use platforms and Apps.

In March 2009 the company was awarded Investors in People status, reflecting the strong ethos of high levels of service and the importance of the personal and professional

development of our team as a business goal. We were re-accredited in 2012. Specification

Press Data is looking for a dynamic, ambitious individual who can combine vision with the ability to deliver.

The IT Support Assistant will have a broad range of skills, encompassing an understanding of how our operating processes work, an aptitude for technology and the ability to

communicate across the company with confidence.

The IT Support Assistant will report to the IT Director and be part of the IT Department at Press Data. This department has been created in acknowledgement that Press Data is a technology company.

The IT Support Assistant will be required to act as a bridge between the production requirements of all parts of the company and the technical team. The post holder will be required to be a part of the team that will implement and manage the company’s long term technical plan across all business sectors and all operating environments. They will have active involvement in the continuous smooth running of all systems through regular assessment of environments on an on-going pro-active maintenance of networks and systems. Press Data’s IT department provide 24 hour support to the production operations. All members of the IT team participate in the out-of-hours on call rota.

Therefore, we are looking for a highly organised, efficient and experienced individual, who has a clear understanding and experience of the type of environment in which Press Data operates. This person will be involved in the design and creation of systems and processes

and administrative staff to achieve their own strategic goals.

In addition to excellent personal and communication skills, the post holder will require

excellent planning and implementation skills. We are looking for a person with a proven track record of IT customer service at Level 1 or 2 as well as an aptitude for systems planning and deployment which will engage all stakeholders positively in a changing working environment. The post holder will also need to demonstrate how they have effectively delegated and managed their workload to meet their targets.

This is a high profile position. The individual must share the values of the company and they must be visible and approachable to all staff within the company. They will play a significant role in reinforcing the working culture and positive environment which the company has developed.

The person we are looking for must:

 Have proven excellent communication skills, able to deal with people at different levels both internally and externally, and to be able to communicate the company ethos, and demonstrate company values;

 Have proven organisational ability, to be able to create office systems, both manually and on computer, and to maintain them efficiently to ensure the smooth-running of the office;

 To be able to work diligently alone if necessary, and to be able to take responsibility for a wide variety of situations as they arise;

 To quickly attain excellent proven working knowledge of the company’s bespoke IT systems as well as industry-standard Microsoft Office and Server applications eg MS Access, MS Excel and MS Word.

 Have or be willing to study to have the appropriate level of technical certification on mainstream IT networks

 Experience of working an IS9000 environment

 Have proven experience of working within a busy office.

 Have excellent literacy skills, and the ability to write letters, documents and other informational literature as required;

 Be able to work accurately to deadlines;

 Understand completely the need for excellent customer service at all times;  Understand the need for complete confidentiality in some aspects of the role;

 To behave in a professional manner with colleagues and clients, leading by example.  To understand how to extract valuable MIS and communicate this to the board, with

recommendations on company development.

 To demonstrate an aptitude and interest in a range of mainstream IT, internet and database solutions in addition to bespoke company focused systems.

Overall, we are looking for a highly organised, confident communicator, with previous experience and knowledge of working with media intelligence, and of working with people and teams, who would relish the challenge of ensuring that their contribution would make this successful media company even more successful.

Salary Scale: £20 000 – 25 000 per annum

Holiday Entitlement: 28 days holiday including public holidays.

Hours: 35 hours per week.

Monday to Friday, 8am – 4pm, with unpaid break for lunch On-Call as needed on a rota basis

Reports to: IT Director

Overview

 Involvement in the implementation of company’s technology plan  Systems deployment across all Press Data environments

 Management of feed from the NLA and monitoring of KPIs and enforcement of SLA and all liaison on a technical basis with the NLA

 Audit and maintenance of all systems, hardware and software Systems Management

 Identify innovative and progressive approaches to improving and developing Edinburgh and Cardiff operating environments

 Define technology working practices in all operating environments, including mapping of workflow

 Manage MIS and reporting systems on all processes  Use MIS to improve services

 Manage internal communications with production operations, including briefing documents.

 Implement Quality Control systems across all technical environments  Monitor sub-contractors and suppliers in relation to IT

Operation Management

 Proactive maintenance of IT Hardware  Routine Maintenance of IT Hardware

 Installation and deployment of Hardware, Printer and Technology environments Administrative Management

 Oversee relevant administrative management with regards to IT management, including appropriate licensing.
