Governing Restricted Electrical Licenses
HVAC & REFRIGERATION SYSTEMS
NOTE:
Only the holder of a Suffolk County Master Electrician’s License shall do direct line-voltage connections or branch circuit feeder connections to a service panel, safety switch, unit disconnect, and/or junction box.
Any Restricted Electrical License holder that would perform work in the electrical field other than for the purpose of which said license was issued shall be in violation of the Rules and Regulations as provided by Suffolk County Code 924.
The holder of a Suffolk County Restricted Electrician’s License and/or Certificate of
Competency issued by the Suffolk County Department of Consumer Affairs when said license or certificate of competency has been approved and issued for the purpose of installing, repairing, altering or erecting electrical wire, conduit, devices and controls, may perform the following acts in their respective fields.
HVAC and Refrigeration Systems
1. Furnish and/or install, repair, maintain, alter or replace branch-circuit wiring from the unit disconnect, or junction box to HVAC or refrigeration equipment.
2. Furnish and/or install, repair, maintain, alter or replace all wiring 50 volts or less which is part of the HVAC or refrigeration systems.
3. Furnish and/or install, repair, maintain, alter or replace electrical control devices on heating, ventilating, central air conditioning, refrigeration systems equipment and components thereof.
4. Only the holder of a Suffolk County Master Electrician’s License shall do all
electrical heating equipment and energy management installation, repairs and maintenance.
Nothing contained herein shall be misconstrued to exempt any Restricted Licensee from any other section of Suffolk County Codes 563 Article XI : Electricians and Plumbers and 924, or any rule or regulation promulgated there under.
Violation of any provision of this law by a licensed electrician may result in a penalty not to exceed $750.00 for a first offense and $1,500.00 for a second offense.

IRRIGATION & WATER PUMPING SYSTEMS
NOTE:

IRRIGATION & WATER PUMPING SYSTEMS
1. Furnish and/or install, repair, maintain, alter or replace branch-circuit wiring from the unit disconnect, or junction box to water pumping systems equipment.
2. Furnish and/or install, repair, maintain, alter or replace all wiring 50 volts or less which is part of the irrigation system.
3. Furnish and/or install, repair, maintain, alter or replace electrical control devices on water pumping systems equipment.
4. Direct line voltage connections to any power panel, unit disconnect or installation of a line voltage outlet for a time clock shall be done only by the holder of a Suffolk County Master Electrician’s License.
Nothing contained herein shall be misconstrued to exempt any Restricted Licensee from any other section of Suffolk County Codes 563 Article XI : Electricians and Plumbers and 924, or any rule or regulation promulgated there under.

OIL and GAS BURNING EQUIPMENT
NOTE:

Oil and/or Gas Burning Equipment Systems
1. Furnish and/or install, repair, maintain, alter or replace branch-circuit wiring from the unit disconnect, or junction box to oil-burning or gas burning heating systems equipment.
2. Furnish and/or install repair, maintain, alter or erect emergency and/or unit disconnect switch on oil-burning or gas burning heating equipment and components thereof.
3. Furnish and/or install, repair, maintain, alter or replace electrical control devices on oil-burning or gas-burning heating equipment and components thereof.
4. Furnish and/or install, repair, maintain, alter or replace all wiring 50 volts or less which is part of the oil-burning or gas-burning heating systems.
All electrical heating equipment and energy management installations, repairs and maintenance shall be done only by the holder of a Suffolk County Master Electrician’s License.

1. Furnish and/or install, repair, maintain, alter or replace branch-circuit wiring from the unit disconnect, or junction box to an electric sign(s) or outline lighting equipment.
2. Furnish and/or install repair, maintain, alter or replace all electrical components of a sign or outline lighting equipment, including ballasts, neon transformers, insulators and interval wiring in electric signs and outline lighting equipment.
Nothing contained herein shall be misconstrued to exempt any Restricted Licensee from any other section of Suffolk County Codes 563 Article XI : Electricians and Plumbers and 924, or any rule or regulation promulgated there under.

COMMUNICATION CABLE INSTALLER
Note:
Only the holder of a Suffolk County Master Electrician’s License shall do direct line-voltage connections or branch circuit feeder connections to a service panel, safety switch and/or junction box.
Any Restricted Electrical License holder that would perform work in the electrical field other than for the purpose of which said license was issued, shall be in violation of the Rules and Regulations as provided by Suffolk County Code, Chapter 924.
The holder of a Suffolk County Restricted Electrician’s License and/or Certificate of
Competency issued by the Suffolk County Department of Consumer Affairs when said license or certificate of competency has been approved and issued for the purpose of installing, repairing, altering or erecting electrical wire, conduit, devices and controls, may perform the following acts in their respective fields.
Communications Cabling Systems
1. Furnish and/or install, repair, maintain, alter or erect all cabling systems of 90 volts or less, for computer networking, telecommunications, cable TV, fiber optics, audio and video systems and home theater systems.
Nothing contained herein shall be misconstrued to exempt any Restricted Licensee from any other section of Suffolk County Codes 563 Article XI : Electricians and Plumbers and 924, or any rule or regulation promulgated there under.
Violation of any part of this law by a licensed electrician may result in a penalty not to exceed $750.00 for a first offense and $1,500.00 for a second offense.
