What Is the Printer Setup Module?
The primary purpose of the Printer Setup is for you to select the type of
printer and type of label your system will use to create formula labels.
Formula labels are the stickers you put on paint cans to let the customer
know the color, formula, date created, etc.
Printer Setup also has an application called Label Designer that allows
you to customize the information printed on a formula label. You can
modify one of ColorDesigner’s standard labels, or you can create your
own from new. See the following examples:

Hints and Tips
Custom Logo element
You must import your custom logo from an artwork file. The artwork must be black and white, and the file must be saved in the Windows bitmap (.BMP) format.
Simple logos work best. The formula labels are small, so complicated artwork will likely not look good.
Formula Block element
Display File field *
Formula Block information can be displayed as either a string or a column.
• A string is just the basic formula information without text labels. Select this if you want to print the formula but do not want the infor-mation to be easily used by others.
• A column is the formula information put into a table that provide text labels. Select this if you want the complete formula information printed on the label.
Brackets (for example, <ColorName>)
Indicate where information will be included on the actual label. For example:

*
Note that the Display File field in theElement Definition area defines how the formula block prints on formula labels. The formula block information may appear on screen in other parts of ColorDesigner in a different format.
For more information, see the “Housekeep-ing Tips” document.

“Left” and “Top” fields
These two fields define the position of the ele-ment on the label. The distances are in “points.” (There are 72 points in one inch.) Both are mea-sured from the top left corner. In this example, the Color Name element is 105 points from the left and 15 points from the top.
The “Width” and “Height” fields, which define the element area, are also in points.
“Text” field
Provides a place to identify the information that follows it. If you select the Base element, “Base:” appears in the Text field. The label will show “Base:” and the base name. For example, Base: Pastel A
“Shrink to Fit” field
Select this to have Label Designer reduce the font size of the text to make it fit within the specified width and height for the element.
General elements:
Elements with the “abc123” icon each have the same Element Definition fields, as shown on the right.
