Embedded Org Chart in MSS

Managers can now select staff or organizational entities in applications such as HCM

Processes and Forms via a embedded org chart view. The organizational chart control

visualizes organizational hierarchies within the managers' span of control. Users can

drill-down and navigate easily through their teams, finding a more human face of their

organization when they start a change request for a person, position or organizational

unit.

Embedded Org Chart view available in the following MSS applications:

HCM Processes & Forms:

Start Process for Employee

Start Process for Multiple Employees

Start Organizational Process

Competency Management:

(4)

Business Rationale

Customer Pain Points

Lack of transparency and user-friendliness when trying to pick an employee, position,

organizational unit, or job within a manager's span of control when starting a change request

process or when editing position details within MSS.

Business Benefits

Better understanding of hierarchical relationships within the organization

Better comprehension of employee–organization relationships

Ability to find the right people in your organization faster and therefore work more efficiently

with manager self-services

Background

The embedded Org Chart views are an alternative, optional frontend to the existing

„Object and Data Provider“ (OADP)-based frontends in the applications mentioned.

In case the user logs-on in the Accessibility mode, the classical OADP Web Dynpro

screens will automatically show up and be used by the screenreader software.

Note on Licensing

:

The embedded Org Chart view has been developed in cooperation with Nakisa.

The usage of this component (technical name EMBEDDED_ORGCHART 605)

is free

of charge for MSS Customers,

i.e. customers who have purchased the respective

license types for Manager Self-Service.

In contrast to

Nakisa‘s solution extension „SAP Talent Visualization by Nakisa“ (STVN),

the Embedded OrgChart for MSS is not tied to an additional license fee - it is not sold

as part of STVN, but is integral part of SAP ERP EhP5.

Configuration

IMG Configuration contains:

Activation of Org Chart control per application

Configuration of Hierarchy Structures (object views)

Configuration of Box Content (data views, fields, styles, colors)

Option to take over either SAP preconfigured customizing settings, or any customer-specific

OADP configurations existing in the current implementation of the MSS applications in question

(22)

Configure Organizational Chart Visualization

Check Standard Organizational Chart Configuration:

Customer can review the standard settings shipped in system tables (s-tables, cross-client).

Note:

By default, once the Business Function is switched on, the Org Chart Visualization is active per SAP‘s

standard customizing settings.

Transfer Standard Organizational Chart Configuration:

Customer can transfer SAP‘ standard delivery to customer tables (c-tables, client-dependent),

then adapt to their need.

Import Data from Object and Data Provider:

If customer already has configured MSS applications with specific OADP-customizing, he can also choose to

import existing OADP views into the Org Chart Visualization customizing (instead of taking over SAP

delivered preconfiguration)

Maintain transferred Organizational Chart Configuration:

Here, customers can create own configuration up from scratch, or adapt transferred SAP standard

customizing, or adapt their transferred OADP views.

Transfer Standard Organizational

Configuration

In order to modify SAP‘s standard configuration from the previous IMG activity (s-tables of view cluster), you

have to copy them in this activity to a customer-controlled space of the configuration view cluster (c-tables).

Then you can change all SAP-delivered settings in IMG activity „Maintain Transferred Organizational Chart

Configuration“.

(38)

Import Data from Object and Data Provider

You use this report to migrate any existing Object and Data Provider (OADP) configuration to the

Organizational Chart Visualization (hierarchy visualization) configuration, if you have already OADP

configuration for the Webdynpro applications in place. The OADP enables you display structures from

Organizational Management

in a list or tree structure.

In order to create an organizational chart based on the existing OADP configuration, conceptual mapping

between the OADP and hierarchy visualization entities is required, which SAP delivers in an implementation

class for the supplied configuration and applications.

Select existing OADP views to add them

to the configuration tables of the

Transfers OADP views into the

c-tables of the Organizational Chart

Visualization view cluster.
