Dear Readers,

In April of 1992 when we established our company TELE-FONIKA, I firmly believed that we were going to be a success on the Polish market. Now, after 16 years, we are a significant cable producer on the international arena. Our investment and business strategy has resulted in sales in nearly 90 countries worldwide, which has seen us reach 14th place in the international ranking of the lar-gest cable producers for 2007, which was information prepared by Integer Research Ltd. Today’s TELE-FONIKA Kable is an accu-mulation of the rich tradition of the Polish cable industry on the one hand, and innovative technological solutions on the other. TELE-FONIKA Kable Group presently consists of seven production plants – five situated in Poland, one in the Ukraine and one in Ser-bia. We own more than a dozen commercial branches worldwide, giving us the possibility to respond quickly to the needs of our global customers.

Since the establishment of our company, we have been faithful to three basic ideas, which are the cornerstones of our successful enterprise. The first is to use the most modern available techno-logy on the market, the second one is quality – verified by independent research laboratories and the third one, is running our company profitability. You can read more about the implementation of our business strategy further in the brochure.

Our dream is for TELE-FONIKA Kable to achieve and be renowned not only in economic terms, but also in the field of innovation. We have allocated considerable financial resources for cooperation with R&D centres. In line with this, we have also established special interdisciplinary work teams consisting of eminent researchers, who together with our experts, implement next-generation wares and complex services in cable technology production.

We are proud of our achievements and position on the world market in 2007. We have managed to increase our production potential and introduce new ranges of cables to the market. This was possible thanks to the knowledge, skill and commitment of employees within the TELE-FONIKA Kable Group.

I address this preface to you – our current and future trading partners. I can assure you that the main aim of our com-pany is the fulfilment of your varied and wide ranging requirements. We feel it is our responsibility and duty to be open to your constructive suggestions and ideas, and through this co operation, improve our products and services. COMPANY’S HISTORY

(9)

8

9

The story of TELE-FONIKA began in April 1992, in Myślenice, near Kraków, a modern plant was erected specializing in production of copper and fibre-optic telecommunication cables. Each year since 1992, our turnover grew and the profits were invested in the further development of TELE-FONIKA. A new plant was established in Kraków-Bieżanów, together with the acquisition of three other factories existing on the Polish market.

The consolidation of plants in TELE-FONIKA Kable Group resulted in better than expected out-comes. The turnover of 5.3 billion PLN (€ 1,466 billion), made it possible for our company to be classified on 14th place of a worldwide ranking prepared by Integer Research Ltd. About 70% of our production is exported to almost 90 countries worldwide. Plants which are a part of TELE-FO-NIKA Kable Group have processed ca. 148,500 tons of copper and ca. 39,500 tons of aluminium. Our product inventory consisted of over 25 thousand types of cables and wires.

The position of TELE-FONIKA Kable in the worldwide rankings is the result of Polish capital invest-ment and intellectual potential, together with commitinvest-ment and innovativeness of the employers. Our chief asset is extensive technological know-how in the field of production of wide variety of cables and wires supported by an experienced personnel.

TELE-FONIKA has just opened a new, important chapter in the history of Polish cable industry. Our company is identified with high quality cables, considered by all of our global customers as the best products to work with.

The founder, owner and President of the Supervisory Board of TELE-FONIKA Kable Group is Mr. Bogusław Cupiał.

The pro-duction offer of the plant is medium voltage made in XLPE technology, as well as signal and control wires for special purposes. These products match to a great extent the ge-neral trends concerning ecology and maintenance safety of wares. Extremely strict legislation in these areas has beco-me the indicator of the technological progress of the manu-factured cables.

In 2007 the plant processed ca. 48,000 tons of Cu wire rod and 14,500 tons of Al wire rod.

The high quality of products and the attention to environmental issues are the top priorities for TELE-FONIKA Kable Group. Already in the early 1990s the three plants now working for the Group atta-ined the ISO 9002 certificate. They have been placed in the first five of all plants in Poland, who had quality manage-ment certificates. Today all the plants in our company have an integrated quality and environment management system certified by the British company of BASEC. Introduction of ISO has resulted in the highest quality of products confirmed by over 460 certificates for groups of wares licensed by 33 renown centres of certifications worldwide, including: LCIE – France, SGS Fimko – Finland, DELTA – Denmark, BBJ HAR – EU, BASEC – UK, VDE – Germany, CSI – Russia, SIQ – Slovenia, BBJ – Poland, LPCB – UK, Sllihca – Scandinavia, MSHA – USA, Lloyd Register – UK, ABS – USA, DNV – Norway, Germanischer Lloyd – Germany, RINA – Italy, PRS – Poland, Class NK – Japan, RMRS – Russia, BV – France, CSA –

Canada, CNTK – Poland, EMAG – Poland, WUG – Poland, UL – USA, Intertek – Saudi Arabia, KUCAS – Kuwait, EnergoPomiar – Poland, RePro – Spain, Portugal.

Quality certificates for products are a business necessity, a question of prestige and a guarantee to the Custo-mer that the class of the purchased product is tested by research laboratories and certifying bodies indepen-dent from the manufacturer.

(14)

A vital element of our business is respecting and abiding to the EU directives on environmental protection. Each carried out investment and each material used for production is eva-luated in terms of its effect on the environment. The result this policy brings is the elimination all heavy metals from the materials used directly in the manufacturing process of ca-bles and limitation to the necessary minimum of emissivity and pollutants.

As our tribute to the environmental care and protection we have opened a Waste Recycling Plant in Bukowno (about 50 km from Kraków). The plant is annually able to recycle over 10,000 tons of cable wastes. Thanks to implementing the sta-te-of-the-art environment-friendly technology, we were able to achieve fractions of each material pure in over 99.5%. The contribution of TELE-FONIKA Kable to environmental protection has been appreciated and rewarded in 2007 by the Minister of Environment and Water Management by gi-ving our company the title of the “Polish Ecological Partner”.
