innova;ve new tool called the Parent Access Support System Portal (PASSport), a 24/7 one-‐stop online system that securely connects parents/guardians to essen;al personalized informa;on about their child(ren) at school. In Fall 2015, the LAUSD PASSport will be available to all LAUSD K-‐12 parents & guardians
The LAUSD PASSport, available at passport.lausd.net, connects parents/guardians to informa;on about their child(ren)’s academic progress, including grades, aSendance, A-‐G progress, standardized test results, and much more. It also allows parents to apply for select District programs online and directly update emergency card informa;on.
The items in this Toolkit will provide an overview of the LAUSD PASSPort, the benefits of the tool and how it can help improve the partnership we have with our parents/guardians. You will be able to find the contents of this toolkit and others on the Superintendent’s webpage.

Q: What is the LAUSD PASSport?
A: The LAUSD PASSport stands for LAUSD’s Parent Access Support System portal (PASSport). It is a one-‐stop online system that connects parents and guardians to important informa;on about their child's educa;on. It is secure...it is personalized to your child...and it is custom-‐made for YOU, our parents and guardians.
Q: I thought we already had a Parent Access system...is this something new?
A: It is not a new idea, but it is a new and improved system. Parent Access was the ini;al online system LAUSD created. PASSport is the next genera;on of this online tool to help keep parents and guardians connected to their child's educa;on. This new version provides more informa;on, tools and resources for parents and
guardians from the original Parent Access system. Visit passport.lausd.net.
Q: What will I be able to do with this online system? A: Parents and guardians will be able to:
•Monitor their child's class assignments, grades and standardized test scores
•Track their child's progress towards gradua;on •Check their child's daily aSendance and monitor
aSendance trends
•Monitor English Learner Reclassifica;on status •Update Emergency Contact informa;on
•Keep connected with their child's teachers through email
•Apply for District programs such as eChoices and the Free and Reduced Meal Program
Q: How will this ulBmately help my child in school?
A: When parents and guardians are involved in their child's educa;on, they succeed
academically. The LAUSD PASSport empowers parents and guardians with the informa;on they need when they need it. By providing parents and guardians real-‐;me informa;on about their child's progress in their educa;on, parents and guardians are beSer prepared to be engaged partners in their child's educa;onal journey.
Q: When will I be able to use this tool?
A: The LAUSD PASSport is available in Fall 2015. Before the launch, we are giving you a sneak peek to introduce the LAUSD PASSport, what it can do and why it will be beneficial to you.
Q: What do I need to do to start using this tool when it is available in Fall 2015?
A: The first step is parents and guardians need to register for an email account.
Then parents and guardians will need to register to LAUSD PASSport using their email address. More informa;on and resources will be available for parents and guardians as we get closer to the “go live” date in Fall 2015.
Q: What if I don't have technology at home?
A: Whether it is on a laptop, tablet, phone...or visi;ng your parent center to access technology, no parent or guardian should feel they are not connected to their child’s
educa;on. That’s why we encourage our parents and guardians to visit their school’s parent center to access the LAUSD PASSport online at passport.lausd.net, or from the LAUSD
Families website at families.lausd.net (the LAUSD PASSport link is on the le[ sidebar).

The LAUSD PASSport is a one-‐stop online system that securely connects parents and guardians to important informa;on about their children at school, 24 hours a day, seven days a week. It is secure...it is personalized to your child...and it is custom-‐made for YOU, our parents and guardians. Through the LAUSD PASSport, you can immediately:
• Monitor your child’s aSendance • View past grades
• Connect with your child’s teacher through email • Update Emergency Informa;on
• Complete online applica;ons • And much more!
The LAUSD PASSport will be available in Fall 2015 at passport.lausd.net. The first step is to register at passport.lausd.net. You will need the following to register:
•A personal e-‐mail address •Your child’s student ID number •Your child’s date of birth
•Your child’s name (as entered on your child’s official enrollment form)
