Light enables us to see our surroundings... and what we see depends

on how it is illuminated.

We like comfortable spaces that convey emotions, that are attractive

and that make us feel good. And of course, that are sustainable.

Lighting Desing can achieve all this.

AUREOLIGHTING

Independent practice of architectural lighting design. Composed by a

multidisciplinary team of architects, interior designers, engineers ...

We collaborate with architects and engineers, joining their creative

and technical teams to design and control the light. We create high

added-value solutions for indoor and outdoor spaces, both

perma-nent and ephemeral.

He studied industrial design at the Escola Massana, Barcelona and completed a Masters in Product Development at the Polytechnic University of Catalunya, Girona.

He worked as an industrial designer in different areas, in particular highlighting the design of luminaires for the Spanish brand TROLL. From 1998 he worked independently as a lighting designer, and in 2004 Rafael founded Indigo Design, the first independent lighting design offi-ce in Madrid. In 2007, he created AUREOLIGHTING, his current studio, where he continues to focus on independent lighting design. Some of his projects have won Architectural and Lighting Design Awards. He is also co-director of a Masters in Lighting Design at Instituto Euro-peo di Design (Madrid). In addition he regularly participates in national and international conferences, forums and lectures on lighting design. Rafael is a founding member of the APDI (Association of Lighting De-signers of Spain) and currently serves on the Board as a Secretary.

We develop the lighting design for the interior and / or exterior of the architectural space. We specify the product, assist and verify the installation and finally we direct programming scenes and lighting effects. The documents we produce consist of presentations, drawings, calculations, technical sheets... adapted to the needs of each project.

Our involvement can cover the following phases and if necessary, include additional services.

SERVICES

Phase I: Inception and Feasibility.

Includes attendance to the initial meetings with the Client and the Design Team, in order to obtain the necessary information and gather the data to produce the briefing.

•Phase II: Concept Design.

Involves the production and presentation of a lighting proposal for the project based on the briefing agreed in phase I to communicate the global intention of the design.

•Phase III: Basic Design.

Consists on the development of the concept proposal with a preliminary luminaires distribution, light sources definition and electrical consumptions.

•Phase IV: Advance Design.

Presentation of the final information and documents needed for the correct Lighting Design installation.

•Phase V: Site Supervision.

Consists on explaining the lighting design effects and the correct location of the fixtures, verifying the installation and solving any site problems that may arise during the execution.

•Phase VI: Focusing and Programming Direction.

Involves making the final adjustments of the lighting effects, the focusing of fixtures and finishing off all the pending details. We also direct the programming team that will set the light levels and/or the different light scenes, either static or dynamic.
