Specifying the Manuals to Search

Setting an Adobe® Reader® “index” (.pdx format) allows you to specify whether to search

an individual manual or the entire manual collection. Set the index as described in the following procedure, and then use the Search command in Adobe® Reader™ to search. To

ensure that you can view and search the PDF manuals, upgrade to Adobe Reader 6 for Windows.

Note: The Search command is not available when viewing the collection within a Web browser. Some non-English language versions of the Acrobat Reader do not support the Search command.

1. Click the Search button in the Adobe Reader File toolbar to open the Search PDF window.

Note: If the File toolbar is not present, select View → Toolbars → File. If the toolbar has a grayed-out Search button, install Adobe Reader 6 for Windows.

2. In the Adobe Reader Search PDF window, click Use Advanced Search Options in the bottom of the window.

3. In the “Look in” field, click Select index. The Index Selection dialog box will open. 4. In the Index Selection dialog box, click Add.

5. In the Open Index File dialog box, select the search directory, located in your XILINX/doc/usenglish/books/search directory.

6. Do one of the following:

To search the entire collection, select collection.pdx and click Open. In the Index Selection dialog box, the Entire Collection index appears under the list of

Available Indexes.

To search an individual manual, select any of the *.pdx files and click Open. The

“Manual Search Indexes” table lists each manual title and its corresponding *.pdx

name. In the Index Selection dialog box, the manual title appears under the list of Available Indexes.

Note: After setting indexes, you can change the manual to search by selecting and deselecting indexes in the Index Selection dialog box.
