Lyndon State College Early Promise Program 2015 Scholarship Application

Deadline: April, 1, 2015 The Program

With the help of the Jane’s Trust, the Patrick and Marcelle Leahy Center for Rural Students at Lyndon State College has established the Early Promise Scholarship Program to assist graduating high school seniors who are the first in their immediate family to attend college and who plan to continue their education at Lyndon State College. It provides students who would otherwise not be able to afford a four-year college degree with a $2,500-$5,000 scholarship per year for four years.

Eligibility

Applicants to the Early Promise Scholarship Program must be:

 Graduating seniors attending high schools in Vermont’s Orleans, Essex, Orange, or Caledonia County OR New Hampshire’s Coos or Grafton County.

 Students who are the first in their immediate family to attend college. (Neither of the student’s parents or primary guardians have completed a four-year degree.)

 Pell-eligible OR currently eligible for free/reduced lunch. Students who cannot complete a FAFSA must submit a written statement explaining why.

 Students who plan to enroll full-time at Lyndon State College.

 Willing to participate in follow-up activities with the Leahy Center for Rural Students (e.g., online communication, surveys, workshops, etc.)

Awards

If selected as a recipient the student will receive a $2,500-$5,000 award per year for four years. Awards are automatically renewed contingent upon satisfactory academic performance (cumulative 2.5 GPA or higher) in a full-time course of study.

Application

Interested students must complete the application and mail it to the Leahy Center for Rural Students postmarked no later than April 1, 2015. Applicants will receive acknowledgement of receipt of their application; If an acknowledgment card or email is not received within three weeks, applicants may call the Leahy Center (802-626-6638) to verify that the application has been received.
