Stage 1 – Admission to Teacher Education Program

• A formal application with complete demographic information

• A transcript that verifies a Grade Point Average of 2.75 or better

(or 3.0 in the last 30 hours of credit)

• Demonstration of written competency in standard English

• Demonstration of oral competency in standard English

• Passing scores on CASE Reading ≥ 156, Math ≥ 150, and Writing ≥ 162)

• Four satisfactory references: two from Alice Lloyd College faculty

members and two from candidate’s local community.

• A satisfactory recommendation from the Director of the Student

Work Program

• A satisfactory State Criminal Background Check and Negative

Drug Test

• A satisfactory interview by Teacher Education Committee

Stage 2 – Admission to Student Teaching

• Complete formal application to Student Teaching

• Maintain a cumulative GPA of 2.75 or better

• Satisfactory completion of required clinical and field experiences

(Student teaching will require documentation of 200 total hours)

• Maintain current required student work performance

• Obtain passing score on the appropriate PRAXIS II and PLT exams

• Be in good standing with office of the Dean of Students

• A satisfactory State Criminal Background Check and Negative

Drug Test

• A satisfactory Medical Exam

Stage 3 –Application for Teacher Certification

• Complete 12 credit hours of Student Teaching with a grade of “C”
