Instructed elementary students with various moderate to severe disabilities including but not limited to, children with the educational diagnosis of autism, down syndrome, developmental delay and functional mental disability. Primary responsibilities included planning instruction in all academic areas, planning and implementing behavioral programs, and co-teaching in the general

education and speech resource setting. Other responsibilities included being a learning lab classroom and presenting on the findings of new implementations in the classroom.

2014-2015 Teacher in an Autism Specific Classroom

Stephens Elementary School, Boone County Public Schools, Burlington, KY Instructed kindergarten through first grade students with the primary disability of Autism. Primary responsibilities included designing the brand-new

classroom, planning instruction for all academic areas, creating functional communication systems for all students, implementing behavior plans and designing community based instruction for students in the classroom.

2014 Student Teacher in Highly Structured Classroom Eastern High School, Jefferson County Public Schools Louisville, KY

Instructed high school students with various moderate to severe disabilities. As a student teacher, main responsibilities included planning instruction in science and math as well as creating a technology integration plan.

2014 Student Teacher in Primary General Education Classroom Jane Hite Elementary, Jefferson County Public Schools Louisville, KY

Instructed third grade students in all academic subject areas. Planned lessons with the third-grade professional learning community and led a reading group for gifted students. While in the classroom, a behavior plan was created for a specific student not yet identified, which fostered great success for the student.

The course focuses on examining current research and current literature dealing with some of the critical issues in all areas of special education as well as reviewing history of special education.

May 20- July 20 EEX 4763: Technology for Classroom Teachers of Students with Special Needs University of Central Florida

Orlando, FL

The course focuses on how technology can differentiate instruction and how assistive technology may support the needs of all students, including students with disabilities. The purpose of this course is to enhance the teacher

preparation by teaching students to use and understand how assistive

technologies can increase educational access and improve achievements or all.

The course explores different types of assistive technologies and other resources.

RESEARCH AND SCHOLARLY ACTIVITY

My research focuses on the integration of children with disabilities (specifically learning disabilities) and mathematics curriculum. Using learning sciences to understand and assist students with learning disabilities succeed in mathematics and attend to mathematical anxiety.
