Weimar Triangle 2016
A cooperation between
JE Bordeaux, JEF North Rhine–Westphalia and JEF Poland
General Information
‐ Date: 10th August – 14th August
The meeting will take place between the 10th August and the
14th August. A detailed program is attached to this document.
‐ Location: Berlin – Warsaw – Kraków
The meeting will start in Berlin in we will finish in Kraków. During
our trip we will also visit Warsaw.
‐ Participation fee: 40€
This participation fee includes the travel between Berlin and
Warsaw and the travel between Warsaw and Kraków. It includes
also the accommodation. If museum visits etc. are included will
depend on the status of our funding.
‐ Travel reimbursements: 150€ (from France), 100€ (from North
Rhine‐Westphalia), 50€ (from Poland)
The travel costs can be reimbursed. For this the original versions
of the tickets (for train or plane) have to be send to your
corresponding contact (see last page). The journey to Berlin and
from Kraków has to be organised individually.
General Recommendations
‐ Small bags are recommended
We will travel and walk a lot in Berlin, Warsaw and Kraków and
sometimes we have to carry our luggage with us. Therefore bags
are recommended (maybe you can share some space with other
people)
‐ Program in English
The program will be in English. Nevertheless, you will have a lot
of opportunities to try out your French, German or Polish during
the trip when you talk to the other participants from the other
sections.
‐ Journey diary
We will write a journey diary that will be updated every day. If
you want to support us during the trip don’t hesitate to contact
us.
‐ Social Media
To support our efforts for a good public relations you can also
use Twitter or Facebook and write about your experienced
during our meeting. Our hashtag is #W3JEF2016
Program
Day 1 (Wednesday 10
th August)
Arrival and check in (16:00 – 17:00)
‐ Every participant arrives at Berlin. First meeting point is at our
first location
Get together (17:00 ‐ 19:00)
‐ The participants get to know each other (Sophienstraße 28/29,
10178 Berlin)
Meeting with JEF Berlin (starting 19:00)
‐ In an evening program we will meet the local JEF section in
Berlin and take a look at the nightlife in Berlin.
Meeting with the Ambassador of the French Republic in Germany,
Philipp Etienne (10:00 – 11:00, tbc)
‐ We meet the Ambassador of the French Republic in Germany.
The topic of the discussion will be "Chances and Prospects of
the Weimar Triangle" (Pariser Platz 5, 10117 Berlin)
Governmental district of Berlin (starting 11:00)
‐ The group will take a look at the most important buildings in
Berlin, namely the “Bundeskanzleramt” (Federal Chancellor’s
Office), the “Reichstag” (German Parliament) and the
“Brandenburger Tor” (Brandenburg Gate).
The Wall Museum (14:00 – 15:30)
‐ We will visit The Wall Museum to understand the causes and
effects of the Cold War partition of Europe (Mühlenstraße 78,
10243 Berlin)
Start of the trip to Warsaw
‐ We will take the bus to go from Berlin to Warsaw. Be on time!
The bus will not wait! This is also true for the other departures.
Day 3 (Friday 12
th August)
Arrival in Warsaw and check in (at 6:00)
‐ We will arrive in the morning, drop off our luggage and head to
Łazienki (the biggest park in Warsaw).
Picnic (8:00 – 11:30)
‐ We arrive at Łazienki where each group prepares information
on their country’s involvement in the Weimar Triangle.
Palace of Culture (12:00 – 13:30)
‐ We now have time to travel to the Palace of Culture (plac
Defilad 1, Warszawa) and take a look at other places
surrounding the “centrum”.
Lunch & Time at accommodation (13:30 – 15:45)
Warsaw Uprising Museum (15:45 – 18:00)
‐ We will visit the Warsaw Uprising Museum in a guided tour
(Grzybowska 79, Warszawa).
Sightseeing (18:00 – 19:30)
‐ Finally we have some time to see “the old town”: King's Palace
Breakfast & check out (at 9:00)
Discussion (9:00 – 11:15)
‐ We will discuss the current political situation of the Weimar
Triangle with a politician in Warsaw (tbc).
Transit to Kraków (11:15 – 16:30)
Lunch & check in (16:30 – 18:00)
‐ We will travel to our accommodation (tbc).
Sightseeing (18:00 – 20:00)
‐ In the evening we will have some time to see the Jewish District
of Kraków and the Wawel (a hill in Kraków with the former
king’s castle).
Day 5 (Sunday 14
th August)
Breakfast & check out (at 9:00)
Auschwitz (9:00 – 11:15)
‐ We will visit Ausschwitz.
Return to Kraków (15:30 – 17:00)
