Overview
This document summarizes the tasks and system requirements associated with the installation and operation of the Commvault APSS automation solution. The recommendations and requirements outlined in this document must be followed in order to ensure the successful and sustainable operation of the APSS solution.

Pre-Requisites
Prior to installing APSS the general prerequisites as documented in the APSS Requirement Checklist must be implemented.
To prepare for a successful installation of the APSS solution collect, and have available, the following information in order to make the APSS menu selection process easier:
1. Which Solution Mode will be selected
a. Interactive – where available solutions prompt for user input before implementing a solution. b. Automatic – where solutions follow Commvault Best Practices and the users is not prompted. 2. What CommCell users will have access to APSS solutions and alerts
3. If the Interactive Solution Mode is selected the following information should be available during the remainder of the installation process:
a. Approval Email mailbox (i.e. – [email protected]) b. Approval Email password ( i.e. password for mailbox account) c. SMTP Server (i.e. smtp.company.com)
d. Approval Email Folder – mailbox folder where Solution Workflow input responses are stored. (i.e. Inbox, Inbox/wf_solutions or wf_solutions depending at what folder level the mailbox folder is created under).
Installation Process
1. When first starting the installer the APSS Installer extracts the bundle of workflow solutions to the “...<Installation Directory>\Reports\APSS” folder.
3. Enter the CommCell Administrative Credentials for the installation. The user must have Master Capabilities for the CommCell.
a. Select Local to use local CommCell Credentials b. Select Domain to use Domain Credentials
4. Select an Operation Mode. Either Automatic or Interactive mode is available to the administrator
Interactive
When selecting Interactive Mode the following information is required:
a. Approval Email mailbox (for example – [email protected]) b. Approval Email password ( for example - password for mailbox account) c. Email Server (i.e. smtp.company.com)
d. Approval Email Folder – mailbox folder where Solution Workflow input responses are stored. (i.e. Inbox or some other folder).
i. Inbox is not recommended if the mailbox is an active user mailbox
Automatic
When selecting Automatic mode no additional configuration is required.
**Important – when selecting Automatic the installer executes a series of processes in the background. Wait for the installer to prompt for the next action prior to continuing. Do not turn off your computer or manually terminate the process.
6. Select all users that will have access to APSS workflow solution Alerts and Inputs
7. After the process completes a Summary pane is displayed.

Log Monitoring Configuration
General
The APSS installer handles most configuration tasks required by the installer. When a Log Monitoring engine is already configured, the APSS installer automatically creates APSS Log Monitoring policies.
2. Right Click and Execute the apss_setup workflow
3. On the Workflow Inputs screen select Log Monitoring Config and click OK

4. When the workflow completes, expand Policies -> Monitoring under the CommCell Console Browser 5. Verify the following policies exist:
