Dear Prospective Student:

Thank you for your interest in the Indigenous and American Indian Studies Program (IAIS) at Haskell Indian Nations University. IAIS graduates have used their studies to prepare for

opportunities that include law, journalism, business, social work, linguistics, science, education, and tribal and federal employment. Many also have entered graduate programs in Indigenous Nations, American Indian Studies, or in their areas of undergraduate concentration.

Please read the application carefully before completing the form. We suggest you make a photocopy of your completed application for your records. Your application will be reviewed by the IAIS Admissions Committee.

Important Dates: Application deadline for admission (as of Fall 2014):  Fall Semester: Mar 15th

 Spring Semester: October 15th IAIS Admission requirements:

 Eligible for admission into Haskell Indian Nations University. Please see catalog for admission’s requirement. Please note: transfer students will require admission to the IAIS program prior to admission into Haskell Indian Nations University.

Completion of 45 hours of the Institutional and General Education requirements as outlined in the Haskell Catalog.

Minimum cumulative 2.50 GPA with no grade less than a B in the Haskell American Indian/Alaska Native citizenship courses (or their equivalent if a transfer student).

 Completed Application: a. IAIS Application.

b. Official transcripts from all colleges attended.

c. Two completed reference letters. At least one letter needs to be written by a Haskell faculty teaching American Indian/Alaska Native citizenship courses (or equivalent if a transfer student).

d. A 200 word statement describing contributions you are committed to making in relation to the IAIS program and the intellectual community at Haskell. You may state your goals, with respect to education, your practical experience in Native communities, the areas of academic interests that you will share with your fellow classmates, etc.

 NOTE: The statement should be typed using standard essay structure, carefully proofread, and demonstrate writing ability at the junior-level. e. Return completed application in an envelope to:
