Removal of Additional Product Offering for System Center Endpoint Protection

Effective April 1, 2013 the Additional Product (ACP) offering for System Center Endpoint Protection is being removed from the E6,ESU and USG programs. This is to align to the policy that Core CAL components should only be offered as Enterprise products.

BizTalk Server 2013 Enterprise, Standard, and Branch Edition Per Core Licenses

Effective April 1, 2013, BizTalk Server 2013 software is available under the Per Core licensing model. Similar to the SQL Server core-based software licenses launched in April 2012, the new BizTalk Server 2013 Enterprise, Standard and Branch edition software licenses will generally be sold in packs of 2 core licenses in most Volume Licensing programs worldwide.

As with BizTalk Server 2010, SA Step Ups to higher edition offerings remain available for Branch and Standard edition customers with active Software Assurance coverage, including customers stepping up from prior version processor-based licenses. Desktop Optimization Pack for Software Assurance (MDOP) 2013

The Microsoft Desktop Optimization Pack for Software Assurance (MDOP) virtualization technologies help personalize the user experience, simplify application deployment, and improve application compatibility with the Windows operating system. Additionally, MDOP helps manage, monitor, and deploy key Windows features. Using MDOP shifts desktop repair from reactive to proactive, saving time and removing challenges associated with troubleshooting and repairing system failures. MDOP 2013 contains Microsoft Advanced Group Policy Management, Microsoft Application Virtualization for Windows Desktops, Microsoft User Experience Virtualization, Microsoft BitLocker Administration and Monitoring, the Microsoft Diagnostics and Recovery Toolset, and Microsoft Enterprise Desktop Virtualization.

SQL Server 2012 CAL – Price Increase

Effective with the launch of SQL Server 2012 (April 1, 2012), the price for a SQL Server Client Access License (CAL) was increased by approximately 27.4%. Current academic pricing policies limit price list increases to less than 10% per year, so the pricing change is being rolled out over multiple years.

The increase effective April 1, 2013 reflects this ongoing rollout and impacts the Campus and School and OVS-ES programs only.

Point Count Changes

Changes to Point Counts cannot be tied to a particular price list month. Point counts flow to downstream systems as soon as they are either set, or changed. While this precludes the ability to provide a 30-day preview on point count changes, it does mean that point count errors can be corrected quickly without relying on the following month’s price list publication schedule.

As point count changes will not be visible on the preview price list, please refer to the Product List for updated point counts in the interim.

License point values (referred to as the “Unit Count” on price lists) are assigned based on a product’s global base price using a sliding scale and are only applicable in the Open and Select program. Each product pool (Applications, Systems, Server) has a unique scale for assigning point counts.
