Text. Calibration of sampling rates and estimation of volumetric concentrations.
Field passive air samples were collected from early June to early October of 2011 in
this study. During this period, five sets of calibration samples were obtained with
syn-chronous active samplers and passive air samplers in campus of Peking University.
The active air sampler was operated at a flow rate of ~5 m
3/h. Both particulate and
gaseous phases were collected with quartz fiber filters and columnar PUF plugs,
re-spectively. 5 typical PBDE congeners were selected as representatives for tri-, tetra-,
penta-, hexa-, and hepta-BDEs, and the results are shown in Table S1:

OAvalues of BFRs investigated in the present study are all >9, indicating
a constant sampling rate for more than 120 days.
5As the sampling interval of present
study was 90 day, the calibrated sampling rates could be applied to field samples. The
estimated volumetric concentrations of PBDEs are shown in Table S3 below:
