The Department of Transportation (Department), Bureau of Motor Vehicles, under the

authority of 75 Pa.C.S. § 3368 (relating to speed timing devices), published at 32 Pa.B.

6424 (December 28, 2002) a notice of approved speed-timing devices and maintenance

and calibration stations for use until the next comprehensive list is published.

Approval

Under 75 Pa.C.S § 3368(c)(3), the Department has approved, for use by any police

officer, the following electronic speed-timing device (nonradar) which measures elapsed

time between measured road surface points by using two sensors:

(1) Enradd EJU-91 Wireless System. Manufactured by Y. I. S. Incorporated, 1049

SPEED-TIMING TRAINING

EFFECTIVE-

Unique and exclusive video simulator training allows officers accurate, hands-on

Dear Valued Speedometer Customer,

YIS/Cowden Group, Inc. (YCG), as part of our mission statement, remains focused on changing

technology and working to adjust and adapt for you, our customer. As patrol vehicles have evolved, so has the challenges from a speed-timing perspective and it’s our goal to keep ahead of these challenges.

One such challenge has been speedometer calibrations: A few years ago it became apparent that the ability to do simple electronic speedometer calibrations was going to involve driving your vehicles at high rates of speed. This has become even more prevalent with the advent of pursuit rated AWD patrol vehicles. This took us back to our mission statement and our R&D began on the Speedometer Testing Platform (patent pending). We showed you a small sample at the PA Chief’s of Police Show in 2014 as we continued to invest our resources into the development and approval of a final solution. The day has come and the Speedometer Testing Platform (patent pending) has been approved by PennDOT and listed in PA Bulletin Vol 45 Num 28.

The Speedometer Testing Platform (patent pending) is safer for YOUR vehicles and OUR technicians, a benefit to both parties involved. The trade off is larger, more expensive equipment with more manpower needed to safely operate in a timely manner. With that said, there will be a price increase and changes going forward. As loyal YCG customers, this increase will be in a 2 step (2 year) transition, we are doing this as a thank you for your loyalty to us. Below is a picture of the new system; high tech and modular; designed and built by YCG and Powl’s Speedometer. New pricing and procedures will be sent to you soon for 2016.
