OAI Development Program Overview

OAI Software Development Program

The OAI Software Development Program provides support for software development projects. During the software development phase the OAI Software Development Program will provide access to the OAI protocol specifics, handset simulation software, lab testing equipment, and live support resources. When development is completed the SpectraLink Certified Messaging Application Program gives software vendors an opportunity to add a strategic, competitive edge when bringing a new OAI Messaging Application to market.

SpectraLink Certified Messaging Application (SCMA)

Program

Customers are excited by the prospect of adding additional function and value to their SpectraLink Wireless Telephone investment. However, they also want assurance that a messaging application interfaces seamlessly with SpectraLink products, has appropriate documentation and provides adequate customer support. SpectraLink’s Certified Messaging Application (SCMA) Program provides Vendors a path to increase customer confidence that products will perform to their highest expectations.

SCMA designation is achieved by submitting sales and service documentation for review and successfully completing interoperability testing at an independent lab. The SCMA designation also provides a way for SpectraLink direct sales and reseller partners to guarantee that they make the best decision when choosing products to promote to their prospects and customers.

NOTE: Compatibility testing takes place at a SpectraLink approved independent lab facility.

SCMA Program Benefits

• The right to promote the SCMA designation on Vendors product, website, sales and marketing materials.

• Vendor product promotion on SpectraLink’s website including: a short

description of Vendor’s product, company strengths and business focus; hyperlink to Vendor’s website; and hyperlink to a Sales/Marketing Application Note

• Tradeshow Support - SCMA Vendors are encouraged to demonstrate integrations to SpectraLink Wireless Telephones in their tradeshow booths. SpectraLink will offer tradeshow equipment support depending on resource availability and event participation.

• Secure Partner Website Access – SpectraLink’s Partners Only website is a password-protected site available to all SCMA Vendors. Contents include the SpectraLink Store, FAQs, Advisory Bulletins, presentations, coaching sheets, and competitive information.

(4)

• SpectraLink’s Knowledge Series – SpectraLink’s Knowledge Series is a

collection of technology seminars delivered over the web. These live and recorded webinars are free and available to all SCMA Vendors. The calendar of upcoming webinars and registration information is available on SpectraLink’s website. • Toll-free support hotline - SCMA Vendors may access SpectraLink’s dedicated

toll-free support hotline staffed by senior technical support engineers. Access to elevated support is also provided online through SpectraLink’s Partners Only website, with a 24-hour response objective.

• Demonstration Equipment – SCMA Vendors have access to discounted SpectraLink equipment for demonstration and lab testing systems.

The OAI Protocol Specification Document

The OAI Specification Document is available at no cost in return for a brief description of the Vendor company and interest in SpectraLink text messaging and external system integrations. To obtain the current OAI Specification Document send request to

[email protected].

NOTE: Use of the OAI and access to the OAI Specification Document is subject to Vendor executing a license agreement.

Handset Simulation Software

OAIsim is a software utility that allows a developer to test application processes and functions prior to testing on actual SpectraLink hardware. OAIsim takes application input from either the keyboard or an external application. Inputs are processed and the results are displayed on the simulated SpectraLink Wireless Telephone and in various status windows. With the simulator program, the developer can test OAI messages and the corresponding reactions of the complete system. OAIsim is for development purposes only and does not replace actual SpectraLink hardware system testing. SpectraLink offers this software program designed to simulate all generally available SpectraLink handsets and includes one hour of free email or phone support from a SpectraLink resource with expert knowledge of the OAI protocol. OAI Protocol Service Department Support

The intent of SpectraLink Customer Support is to solve product and system-related problems for our mutual customers in a manner that maintains a high level of customer satisfaction. SpectraLink maintains the Open Application Interface (OAI) Specification Document providing instructions on how to use the application programming interface (API). SpectraLink’s Customer Service organization supports issues related to the API when a developer provides clear documentation of a reproducible error indicating that the API is not working as described

according to current version of the OAI Specification Document. SpectraLink will respond to other issues related to the Vendor’s integration with SpectraLink

products on a fee basis in increments of no less than one hour.

SpectraLink technical support determines if the customer issue lies with the SpectraLink-branded product or with the SCMA application. For SpectraLink-SpectraLink-branded products, the standard escalation process applies and the technical support staff will escalate to its escalation team as needed. For SCMA products, the technical support staff will refer the customer to the appropriate SCMA program Vendor.

SpectraLink Certified Messaging Application

Program Specifics

SCMA Program Description

Compatibility testing is a formal process through which a Vendor’s software/hardware solutions and associated documentation are tested and verified at an independent test lab. The test exercises software and hardware provided by the Vendor interoperating with a SpectraLink Wireless Telephone System. Successful completion of testing and

documentation requirements will qualify products for SCMA designation and all associated benefits.

NOTE: Vendors using a SCMA product as middleware to connect to SpectraLink are exempt from lab testing however in order to become an SCMA designee they must submit a completed SCMA Application (Appendix B).

With the exception of the SpectraLink Wireless Telephone System and an independent test lab provided PC (if requested), the developer will provide all necessary equipment, software, and documentation for testing at an independent lab. The test plan will exercise the software and hardware based on the Vendor’s preferred distribution model - installed by customer or preconfigured at factory and shipped to the customer site. As appropriate the lab test engineer will:

• Install and configure software as necessary to work with the SpectraLink system • Access vendor’s support documentation to exercise supported features from the

SpectraLink Standard Messaging Feature List (Appendix A). NOTE: Products will not be penalized for unsupported features. • Exercise features from a Vendor-provided feature list

• Exercise the Vendor-provided handset user guide

• Verify clarity of the support information and documentation.

Vendors will contract with and pay the SpectraLink approved independent lab directly. Contact information for test lab(s) will be made available when the developer has completed all tasks in the “Appendix B - SCMA Application” and submitted results for review to [email protected]

After completion of the test the Vendor will receive a written report from the testing lab including installation/configuration/feature test results and a subjective response to product documentation for completeness and ease of use. SpectraLink will also receive a copy of the test result but will not share or publish specific aspects of the test results without approval by the Vendor. Test results and documentation will be confirmed and

(7)

approved by SpectraLink before the tested product receives SCMA designation with all associated rights and privileges.
