Introduction

Some people love to gamble, no one really knows when gambling began. When it began it was legal, then it was rendered illegal by many jurisdictions and today legal and illegal gambling coexist.

Generally speaking legal gambling provides to the winner legal protection, whereas illegal gambling provides no protection at all. It is imperative to gamble legally. No one wishes to break the law or follow illegal paths, nor should you. This is our viewpoint, and we feel it is an embraceable one by all readers.

Online gambling begun in 1995 and the online gambling industry nowadays is a financial titan. Millions of people gamble or bet online. Their number increases day by day for better, or for worse.

The revolution of online gambling was not welcomed by all jurisdictions. Nowadays the “war” is still waging. The United States have made it illegal since 2006 for American citizens to gamble online. So has Russia, France, Germany and some other countries. Nonetheless the UK, Spain and Italy have followed a dissimilar approach. The European Union may one day probably instruct all its Member States to allow online gambling as UK already has.

It is our opinion that it’s only a matter of time before the online gambling revolution will prevail. Until then you are strongly advised to check whether your country allows you to gamble online. If it doesn’t you will not be able to get paid any of your potential earnings and you could even be criminally prosecuted. So before you gamble online, be aware of your national laws, since online gambling could be already illegal in your country and you may not know it. If you wish to gamble legally then you wish of course to risk money in order to get money back. When e.g. you play the roulette you could bet 10£, 10$, 10€ or whatever currency you are using. However US residents using US dollars should already know that they are not allowed to gamble on line. In any case we will use the “$” sign, given that the dollar is a currency used in many countries worldwide.

The odds are never in your favor when gambling. This is why some times, if you win, you win more than you bet. If you bet 10 £,$,€ on a Roulette number you get the money you bet by a 36 ratio, so you get back 360 £,$,€. Of course the chances of winning if you play like this are slim.

When you play blackjack you have disadvantages playing against the dealer, but if you win the round you double the money you bet.

If you know poker then you could win if you follow strategies you may already know.

If you prefer betting there are ways to win but everything of course is based on unpredictable factors. If you follow a strategic plan you could still be victorious.

There are strategies you can follow when gambling or betting but bear in mind that gambling and betting is like riding a bus. You have to know where your bus stop is, otherwise you will never get where you want.

Before forming any strategy you have to draw two lines. 1. The first line is “How much do I want to win?”

If e.g. you bet 100 £,$,€ then you could perhaps say that you will stop if you win 150 £,$,€ or 200 £,$,€ and that you can afford to lose 50 £,$,€, or 75 £,$,€ or everything you gamble or bet. We suggest you gamble only half of what you think you can afford to lose and if you lose stop there.

Bear in mind that if you wish to bet or gamble you should do so with money you can afford to lose, not money necessary for your survival. If you don't do that, then you may need professional help, i.e. counseling or psychotherapy. People blame casinos for people who lost all their money, but this is rather inaccurate. Bear in mind that the gambling industry is strong economically because it isn't easy to beat its games. It is hard to beat the roulette. You can win all night long and lose everything in an instant. The thrill is too strong for a lot of people to resist. It is the adrenaline that drives people to gambling. Beat the odds that are against you. And rest assured they are against you.

Don't be overenthusiastic. Unless you have won e.g. 1000 £,$,€ beginning with 100 £,$,€ and you are leaving. If you continue to gamble you have to be focused. Never forget that.

Bear in mind that people who have destroyed their lives with gambling don't really want to win. People sick with gambling in a moment of clarity said that they really want to lose. If you take them to an artificially created casino and make the roulette give them money all the time, they will quit gambling in an instant. Roulette

Before playing the Roulette remember to gamble only what you can afford to lose. Never exceed that parameter. There are two types of roulettes, the European (single zero) and the American Roulette (double zero). We suggest you play the European roulette.

The European roulette has 37 numbers. There are numbers from 1 to 36 and 0. If the ball lands in

0 you lose everything you have bet, unless you

have bet 0. This number is unique and comes with no combination. If victorious you get your money X35. So if you bet 50£,$,€ in any other combination we suggest you bet 2 £,$,€ extra so that you use it as a safety net. At least you will lose a trivial amount of money. You can calculate what to bet in other combinations and what to bet on 0 if you want to use it a safety net just in case you have a 0.

The European roulette has 36 numbers beyond 0. Their order is:

The roulette numbers can be divided in three groups either

horizontally or vertically.

The horizontal groups are the following (if victorious you win X3 your money)

Group A: 1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9,10,11,12

Group B: 13,14,15,16,17,18,19,20,21,22,23,24

Group C: 25,26,27,28,29,30,31,32,33,34,35,36

The vertical groups are the following (if victorious you win X3 your money)

Group A: 1,4,7,10,13,16,19,22,25,28,31,34 Group B: 2,5,8,11,14,17,20,23,26,29,32,35

Group C: 3,6,9,12,15,18,21,24,27,30,33,36

You can also place your bets to the following numerical groups

1-18 (if victorious you win X2 your money) 19-36 (if victorious you win X2 your money)

You can also bet on four numbers, by placing your bet on the table and e.g. include 16,17,19,20. If victorious in such case you win X9 your money. There are also combinations with five numbers e.t.c. You can also bet on one number, the combinations are infinite.

Recommended Roulette strategy

One strategy that could work is to bet e.g. 30 £,$,€ on the first horizontal group (1-12) and 30 £,$,€ on the second horizontal group (13-24). By doing so the chances of winning are increased. If e.g. the ball lands in number 6 you win 60 £,$,€ i.e. (30£,$,€ X 3 = 90£,$,€, 90£,$,€-30£,$,€=60£,$,€), the same is valid if the ball lands in any number from 1 to 24. If the ball lands in any number from 25 to 36, or 0 then you lose everything. So the chances of increasing 33% your money are 2/3 or to be more exact (in calculating 0 as a number that you don't place bets) 24/37 i.e. 64.8% and the chances to lose 100% of your money is 35.2%.

We feel that there is no better strategy to follow when playing the roulette. You can switch the horizontal groups if you feel that the ball will land in another group. In any case the chances of increasing 33% your money is 24/37 and losing your money is 13/37, so it seems that the chances could work if you get lucky. At least the

Mathematics seems to be in your favor if you play like that.

You can bet on 0 in order to cover this as well. If you bet 60 £,$,€ totally then you can bet 1.6 £,$,€, or 2 £,$,€ on 0. In this case you bet 62 £,$,€, (=2£,$,€ on 0, 30£,$,€ on 1-12, 30 £,$,€ on 13-24). If you cover all numbers from 0-24 your chances to win increase to 25/37. If you get any number from 1-24 your earnings will be 58 £,$,€ (=30£,$,€ X 3=90 £,$,€, 90£,$,€-30£,$,€=60£,$,€, 60£,$,€-2£,$,€=58£,$,€). If the ball lands in 0 your earnings will be 8 £,$,€ (2£,$,€ X 35=70£,$,€, 70£,$,€-62£,$,€=8£,$,€). The chances of losing everything are 12/37 i.e. 32.4%. So it seems that by betting only a small amount to cover 0 your chances of winning increase at 67.6%. We feel that it could be worth it. The final choice is up to you though.

If you play the American Roulette you will have to cover the 00 as well, i.e. you will have to pay more money and get less in return. This is one reason we suggest you avoid the American Roulette.

If, however you win and you accomplish to increase your money 33% the best thing to do is leave and not try again. Call it a day. No strategy will last against the Roulette for long.

Other strategies could be to bet always on the same number or play everything you have lost e.g. on red or black, if you lose double your bet, and so on, until you win. However these strategies could ruin you if you risk too much. Never risk too much.

The roulette table has a “signature”. You can check and see what numbers the ball prefers. Each ball may have its own “preferences”. If you play little money at the beginning then the chances of earning more later on could increase if e.g. the ball “prefers” odd numbers then your chances could increase if you bet on odd numbers. However the ball owes you nothing, so don't get overenthusiastic. Chances are always slim but a prior evaluation of the ball's preferences could be helpful. If for example you see that the ball prefers red numbers, it could change its mind. So perhaps it could be your turn to bet on black numbers. The more you play, the more accurate your predictions could be. This tip could be very helpful perhaps when betting on a real world roulette table. It is unlikely if you spin the wheel 37 times to see it landing on 37 different numbers i.e. every time you spin it to always land on a different number, 37 times in a row. It will repeat landing in certain numbers. This could be a weakness that a person smarter than us could perhaps exploit. We are not sure how though.

We feel that the American Roulette with an extra 00 is harder to win than the European Roulette. Mathematically at least this is true, and mathematics don't lie. We suggest you prefer the European Roulette table where your chances are better. There is no reason to bet against more odds than you already do.

There are on line casinos where you can never beat the Roulette. Of course these casinos are illegitimate so before you bet, try to learn as much information as possible for the on line casino you want to bet. Online casinos must have software generating random numbers. If not then you are dealing with a fraud.

Blackjack

Blackjack is a game of unknown origin, its original name is “twenty one”, and by this name is known in most European Countries. The name

“Blackjack” is of American origin. This card game has its own variations as well.

The twenty-one variation

In certain countries they play it after removing the Kings, Queens, Jacks, 5s and 6s. The Aces count for 11 only, however 2 Aces will suffice for victory.

The dealer bets money in the table’s center and has his cards open, the players have their cards hidden, unless they choose to display all of them or one of them at the beginning or later on. The dealer plays with each player separately. Each player places a bet and if he wins he doubles his money, if he loses he loses it all. The player is dealt one card and he can’t raise his bet when getting any other cards. In case of a tie the players are losing automatically. If the dealer has 20 he is automatically declared a winner, because a player with 20 loses against a dealer with 20, and if a player has 21 he has to say so and the dealer pays him immediately, if the player has 21 and doesn’t say it he loses. The players have to show their cards only if they claim victory. If the dealer busts, the players can hide their cards provided they have two cards, otherwise they must show their cards.

The player must not bust in order to win and he must get a higher card total without exceeding 21. The players can bluff. The dealer can't.

In this variation the Five card Charlie rule applies according to which a player with 5 cards without busting is automatically declared winner without

the dealer playing as if he had 21. This rule doesn't apply to the dealer though. In other variations it does apply, in other variations this rule doesn't exist at all. A player with 4 cards that add up to less than 10 can claim victory since it is impossible to bust. A player with 11 can bust because the Ace counts as 11, the only exception of that rule is when the player has two Aces.

If a player has triple 7 (7 7 7) not only does he have 21, he also takes all the money from the table's center no matter what his bet was. This is the worst case scenario for a dealer, who can win up to that moment and lose it all. In some variations the triple 7 rule doesn't apply.

If the player busts the dealer is automatically declared winner without dealing to himself.

When the dealer finishes with one player, one way or another, he plays with another player and so on. If the dealer loses all his money he can bet more money and continue, otherwise another player can become the dealer by betting money in the table’s center.

If the players lose so much money that the money in the table's center are 3 times more than the initial amount the dealer has bet we have a “Strike

Round”. After the end of this round the money in the center of the table

belongs to the dealer who becomes a player again. Unless he wants to continue and other players don't object, normally though every player must play as a dealer and they switch clockwise or randomly if they agree.

This variation is not the most well known on the Internet and it isn't played in casinos. It also has its own variations. I.e. in certain games no cards are removed, the Aces may count as 1 or 11, two Aces may not win the round, the dealer has his cards hidden, the players and the dealer have their cards open, there is no five cards Charlie rule, no triple 7 e.t.c.

The casino variation

The most well known casino variation includes all figures that count as 10 and Aces count either as 1 or 11, two Aces however count as 12 (=1+11) not as 21. In casinos it is possible for the players playing against the dealer simultaneously. Some players stop at 12. If another player has e.g. 18 and the dealer is obliged to draw and busts e.g. from 15 the player who stopped at 12 also wins. However the players are dealt their cards open, the dealer deals one card open and the other card is dealt hidden. In case of a tie nobody wins and if the player has 21 the dealer will play as well unlike the aforementioned version. The dealer is also obliged not to draw if he has 17 or more, so unlike the aforementioned version where the dealer can draw from 17, even from 19 if he feels that lucky, (not from 20 though because there is no card that counts as 1 in the aforementioned variation) and is obliged to draw if he

has 16 or less, even if the players’ cards add up to 16 or less.

The player may win his bet, i.e. he can win the exact money he bets, or he can win at a ratio 3:2 or 6:5.

The dealer firstly deals two cards to the players which are not hidden. Unless these cards are an Ace and a Figure, or Ace and Ten, which automatically count as 21, the player can either “Hit”, “Stand”, “Double

Down”, and “Split a pair”.

When you say Hit you mean that you want more cards, when you say

stand you mean that you want no more cards, when you say double down

you mean that on your first two cards, you "double" your bet and receive only one card face "down”, by moving a second bet equal to the first into the betting box next to your original bet. When you Split a pair this means that your first two cards are a "pair," I.e. two cards of the same value, and so you can literally "split the pair" by moving a second bet equal to the first into the betting box next to your original bet. The dealer is obliged to split the cards to create two hands, placing one bet with each hand.

There are too many variations, each on line or off line casino may follow a different variation than the one you know. You have to be absolutely certain on which variation you risk your money, and the exact applicable rules. If you are a card-counter you should try the single deck because you play alone with the dealer and there is no way losing a

necessary card to another player, i.e. sufficient for you to have 21, if you have an Ace, you can't lose a figure, or a 10 to another player. Some casinos offer

insurance, in other casinos they don't e.t.c.

You have blackjack only if the first two cards dealt amount to 21.

If you get 21 with 3 cards or more this is not blackjack.

Like we said the dealer is obliged to draw if his cards add up to 16 and is obliged to stop if his cards amount to 17. Unlike the aforementioned version where the skills of the dealer make a difference in the casino version the dealer has no liberty.

If no one busts the player wins if the cards’ value is bigger than the dealer’ cards value.

When you have draw, (Push) the player loses, in some variations no one loses or wins.

If you have 21 with 3 or more cards and the dealer has blackjack with two cards you lose.

If both the player and the dealer have blackjack the player doesn’t win and doesn’t lose his bet.

If the player has blackjack and the dealer has less, or busts the player is paid 150% of the money he has bet i.e. if he has bet 10£,$,€ he is paid 15£,$,€ and gets his money back.

In any other case when the player wins he gets paid 100% of his bet, in any other case he loses his bet.

There are some basic strategies you need to know before risking your money by playing blackjack. Statistically speaking there are certain things you

advise against. Blackjack has been studied thoroughly and if you know some basic mathematics of this card game, your chances of winning are dramatically increased. You should know that the total value of the cards dealt, will follow the following statistical figures (The format of the following tables is mostly ours the numerical and other figures are taken from the booklet “Win in Poker and Blackjack” translated to English, so we can’t guarantee their trustworthiness):

It is needless to day that the more the value of your cards, the more are your chances to bust. The casino dealer stops at 17 since the chances to bust are 69% at 17. It is pointless to try something when your chances to win are 31%. This is the casino’s view.

We advise against the insurance.

When the dealer draws his first card and has an Ace he asks the players if they want to insure their card. If the dealer draws T, K, Q, J he has blackjack and the player loses.

If you choose to insure your cards you get paid your money if the dealer has blackjack. E.g. if you bet 10 £,$,€ and you wish to pay the insurance you have to pay an extra 5 £,$,€. If the dealer has blackjack you get paid your 5 £,$,€ and 10£,$,€ more. However if the dealer doesn’t draw a 10, K, Q, J and there is no blackjack the insurance money is lost. It seems that the casino doesn’t use the insurance for the player’s favor. This seems mathematically correct.

cards) and the dealer could draw an Ace. You could think that by paying insurance you could win the insurance money; otherwise you win nothing if the dealer draws T, Q, J, K.

It is more likely that the dealer won’t have blackjack even if he has an Ace already, if you consider that there are 52 cards and only 16 are valued at 10, if you already have a 10 then only 15 cards remain, in this case chances for the dealer to draw a card valued at 10 are 30.6%. So there is a chance of less than 1/3 for the dealer to have blackjack and more than 2/3 chances (69.4%) that he won’t. So it seems that the insurance could help you only 1/3 times and there are 2/3 chances of losing the insurance money.

We can’t advise in favor of a tactic that gives you 69.4% chances of losing your insurance money.

So we advise against the insurance unless you are a card counter and you are most definitely certain that the dealer will have blackjack.

Bear in mind that today’s casinos use 7-8 card packs so it is difficult to remember 364-416 cards even if you count the cards valued more or less than 8 or 9.

We strongly suggest you play blackjack for free at without risking real money and determine yourself if the aforementioned tables are helpful or not.

Poker

Poker is a game played with far too many variations worldwide. The most well known variation played nowadays is Texas Hold' em.

Poker is considered a fascinating game where personality plays the major role, not luck. Luck can help, but it will not determine the winner. A lousy player may have a good hand and win the round; nonetheless this can’t continue for ever. It is a game many people like to play because it resembles life, unpredictable circumstances combined with each individual personality shape the personal history of each and every one of us. Not everything has been in our favor, sometimes we did the best we could and still lost, sometimes we won without reasonably expecting it. This is perhaps why so many people love Poker, whatever variation they prefer.

Poker is said to come from Persia, France or China. It is said that it comes from a Persian game known as As Nas. However all these hardly matter, the games evolve one day and variations evolve along with them, or evolve themselves into completely different games and no one records the true history of a game, especially a card game.

Before explaining recommended strategies, you need to know the basics. In case you don't know, read the Poker Hands' ranking below, many players don't know the correct ranking though they play the game for many years. Read the rankings first even if you think you know them.

We strongly recommend playing poker not only for money buy also for entertainment. You could spend hours playing poker without realizing it.

Poker hands

In Poker you have five cards (no matter how many cards you combine in order to get the best hand, the ultimate hand will be determined by 5 cards in almost every Poker variation) that can be combined in many different ways depending on each variation you play. You can have pair, three of a kind,

four a kind, straight, flush, e.t.c. Below you can see which hand beats

another hand. A player with any of the below mentioned hands could win. The hands are mentioned from the weakest to the strongest.

If you have no hand at all then the winner is determined by the best card e.g. a player with A wins all other players, if however all players have A then you need to check the second best card, then if it is necessary the third, then the fourth, and finally the fifth. In some variations A is considered as the less valuable card. If two players have exactly the same cards you have draw and the pot is split. This hand is called High Card. When checking who has the best card the total value of the cards is irrelevant.

E.g. a player with A 2 3 4 7 wins a player with K Q J T 8, because the highest card of the second player is inferior compared to the A card. If a player has A 2 3 4 7 will lose if another player has e.g. A 2 3 4 8.

The suit of the cards or the suit of the highest card is irrelevant, unless all the cards have the same suit, because in this case you have Flush, which is a strong hand mentioned further below.

The best Pair is AA.

This beats any other Pair. Other combinations from best to worst are the following: KK, QQ, JJ, TT, 99, 88, 77, 66, 55, 44, 33, 22.

If two players have AA then the victor is determined from the best of the remaining three cards, following the High Card.

If the best card is the same, then the victor is determined form the best of the remaining two cards, then of the remaining card.

If all cards are of equal value then we have draw and the pot is split. In Texas Hold’ em two players with AA or KK or any other hand are automatically equal provided they both begin with the same cards of equal value, and there is no Flush. Otherwise the determination of the winner follows the prescribed procedure.

Chances to have this hand in Texas Hold’ em is 42.26%.

The best combination is AA KK. This hand beats any other Two pair.

Two pair is stronger than pair. A player having 2 2 3 3 beats a player

with a pair of AA or any other pair.

If two players have two pair the victor is determined by the player who has the strongest pair in the way described below.

If two players have the same first pair the victor is determined by the value of the second pair.

If both players have the same two pair the victor is determined by the value of the remaining fifth card.

If two players have the same Three of a kind hand the victor is determined by the value of the remaining two cards. If the fourth remaining card is equal then the victor is determined by the fifth remaining card.

If all cards are equal we have a draw and the pot is split.

In Texas Hold’ em two players are automatically equal provided they both begin with the same cards of equal value. Otherwise the determination of the winner follows the prescribed procedure.

Chances to have this hand in Texas Hold’ em is 2.11%.

You have a Straight if all your five cards are in numerical alignment, e.g. 2 followed by 3 followed by 4 e.t.c.

The suit of each card is irrelevant when viewing this hand.

If you have the best Straight hand (A K Q J T) and simultaneously all these cards have the same suit, then you have a Royal Flush, which is an entirely different story.

If you have any other Straight hand with all the cards being of the same suit then you have a Straight Flush which is also a different story.

Straight beats Three of a kind, Two pairs and Pair.

The Straight hand (without all the cards having the same suit) with A card as the leader card beats any other Straight hand with the K card as the leader (K Q J T 9), or any other, the K card leaded hand beats any other

Straight hand. The Q leading card hand (Q J T 9 8) beats any other hand and

so on.

If two players have Straight the victor is determined by the player who has the best leading card. E.g. a player with 3 4 5 6 7 has 7 as the leading card which is inferior to the hand with 8 as the leading card (4 5 6 7 8).

The A card can be used as number 1 if you have 2,3,4,5. In this case the leading card is the 5 figure card not the A card. This loses compared to any other Straight hand.

Two players with the same Straight hand are automatically equal in any Poker game, even in Texas Hold em.

In some variations (not in Texas Hold’ em) the A card can be used as “wild card”. This means that if you have 4,5,6,7 and A, the A card can be used as 8 (if you have 4,5,6,7,A it will be viewed as 4,5,6,7,(8)) and it will be considered that the leading card is 8 not the A card. It can also be used at the beginning of the hand and in this case the leading card is 7 (if you have

A,4,5,6,7 it will be viewed as (3),4,5,6,7). Of course no player will ever use the

minimum but the maximum hand an A card can give if used as a wild card. A player with two A cards can use one A card at the beginning and the other A card at the end. The leading card is considered by the number that should follow based on the three cards.

E.g. if you have 5,6,7 and two A cards the hand you have is A,5,6,7,A and the real use is interpreted as (4),5,6,7,(8) so the leading card is 8.

In these variations the A card can be used as a wild card only at the beginning or at the end and nowhere else. E.g. you can’t have straight with 5 6 A 8 9, the A can’t be used as a wild card there and you can’t have 5 6 (7) 8 9.

You can not use the A card, or any other card to have Straight in a wraparound e.g. you can’t have a straight with K A 2 3 4 which is not a

straight. You can’t have straight with 4 as the leading card, the same applies

for 3 and 2.

Chances to have this hand in Texas Hold’ em is 0.392 %.

You have Flush if all five cards you have are of the same suit. Flush beats any Straight, Three of a kind, Two pair and Pair. The value of the cards is irrelevant in order to have a Flush.

It doesn’t matter what suit your cards are. All flushes are equal as it concerns the suit. In some variations some players may argue that Spades are supreme to any other suit. This however is not the rule; it could apply in some variations not in Texas Hold’ em though.

If two players have flush then the victor is determined by the value of the best card. If one player has A as the strongest card and the other has K the victor is the first player. If they both have A, they check the second strongest card, if is the same, they check the third card, then the fourth and finally the fifth.

E.g. If one player has flush with A 2 5 6 7 and the other has K Q J 9 7 the victor is the player with the A. If one player has A T 9 8 6 and another A T 9 8 2 the victor is the first player, because 6 is better than 2.

In Texas Hold’ em it is impossible to have flush and draw. The two cards a player is using when having flush are always different from the cards of any other player.

Chances to have this hand in Texas Hold’ em is 0.197%.

You have Full House if you have three cards of the same value and two cards of the same value simultaneously. It’s a hand of Three of a Kind and Pair.

The best Full House a player can have is AAA KK.

Full House beats Flush, Straight, Three of a kind, Two pair and Pair. If two players have Full House the victor will be determined by the value of the cards. What matters more is the value of the 3 cards and then the value of the remaining 2 cards.

E.g. a player with 333 44 beats a player with 222 AA.

Only if the first 3 cards are equal you check the remaining 2 cards. In this case a player with 222 AA beats a player with 222 KK.

If all 5 cards are the same you have a draw and the pot is split.

In Texas Hold’ em two players are automatically equal provided they both begin with the same cards of equal value. Otherwise the determination of the winner follows the prescribed procedure.

Chances to have this hand in Texas Hold’ em is 0.144%.

Two pair and Pair.

The best hand is AAAA that beats any other hand, second best is

KKKK, then QQQQ, then JJJJ, then TTTT , 9999, 8888 7777, 6666, 5555, 4444, 3333, 2222.

When two players have Four of a kind there can be no draw and the value of the fifth card is of no concern whatsoever.

Chances to have this hand in Texas Hold’ em is 0.0240%.

Straight Flush is a combination of Straight and Flush. It is a Straight

where all the cards are of the same suit simultaneously.

Straight Flush beats Four of a kind, Full House, Flush, Straight, Three of a kind, Two pair and Pair.

The best Straight Flush hand is K Q J T 9, if you have A K Q J T you have Royal Flush and in this case you need to read below.

If two players have Straight Flush the victor is determined by the player who has the best leading card as we saw above the determination of the Straight winner. The suit is irrelevant in determining the winner.

E.g. a player with 2 3 4 5 6 loses to a player with 3 4 5 6 7 and so on.

Straight Flash is very rear and it will be a story worth telling to your

children if you ever see two players having Straight Flush simultaneously. Chances to have this hand in Texas Hold’ em is 0.00139%.

Royal Flush is the ultimate Straight Flush there can be. It is top of the

top. Royal Flush beats all the above mentioned hands.

Royal Flush is having the A K Q J T combination of the same suit.

If e.g. you have A K Q J 9 of the same suit, you don’t have Royal Flush, but Flush. If you have K Q J T 9 you have Straight Flush if all cards have the same suit, if not you have Straight.

If two players have Royal Flush you have draw and the pot is split. Some say that the Spade Suit Royal Flush is the Supreme Royal Flush; however this is not canon, but rather a variation. Generally speaking two players with Royal Flush are always equal and the suit is irrelevant in determining the winner.

In Texas Hold’ em it is impossible to have two players with Royal

Flush simultaneously. This can happen in other variations, e.g. if you play the

original Five card Poker.

If you ever see Royal Flush treasure the moment it happens, take pictures if you can, or record it on camera. You may not live something like that ever again in your lifetime; in any case it will be very long before you do live it again statistically speaking. If you see two players having Royal Flush simultaneously then consider never playing Poker again, this game will have nothing more to give you.

In some variations Royal Flush loses to a hand of four cards and a

wild card. Not in most variations though. Most certainly not in Texas Hold’ em. This hand is known as Five of a Kind, and the ultimate hand is 4 A cards and a wild card (Joker) that beats 4 K cards and a wild card and so on i.e.

AAAA-Joker, beats KKKK-Joker. Even a 2222-Joker beats Royal Flush.

However if you ever see in your lifetime a player with Royal Flush losing then I suggest you go the Press and sell the story. History books could

probably never see this happening in your lifetime.

If you play a poker variation with Jokers, Royal Flush is not the supreme hand. If there are no Jokers (like in Texas Hold' em and Five Card Draw) then Royal Flush is the supreme hand. So if you see Royal Flush treasure the moment for ever.

Poker Principles

Legend has it that it is a “masculine” game, nonetheless it is available to everyone who can master it, and the gender is irrelevant.

You are always dealing with 5 cards. Poker has many variations so before you start playing, you have to know which version the other players are playing.

When betting you have three options. Fold, Check, Raise and if you want to risk all your money you have the option to bet All in.

You have to know when to Fold, when to Check, Raise and most certainly when to bet All in, like you need to know when you should ride or not a bus.

If e.g. you don't have a good hand and an opponent bets all in he could be bluffing. However instead of risking losing it all you can follow the following advice: “Live on, improve yourself, fight another day”, which is interpreted in Poker “Stay in the Game, wait for a better hand, risk later”. Like the 70’s song “Stay Alive”.

If your opponent shows his cards, though he doesn't have to, and you realize that you lost, while you could have won, or that your opponent was bluffing, don't feel angry or sorry, because if your opponent acts like that he probably wants to drive you mad so that you play irrationally. Don't give him what he wants. If you can't help it stop playing immediately. One way or another don't give him what he wants. If he doesn't show his cards don't even mind what happened. Remember that curiosity killed the cat.

Many players overbid and they pretend that they have a desirable combination while they have nothing. They give the false impression that they have a good hand. You have no idea of the other players' cards. It’s a game of psychology and guessing.

You have to know how to read the players' Poker face. Cowboys of the Old Far West used their Cowboy hats and the Poker cards in order to cover their whole face so that no other player could see, let along read their Poker face. Many professional players wear sunglasses even today and train themselves not to be given away by facial micro expressions. If you don't know your co-players take some time to study them. See their faces and mark any facial micro expression and if you see their cards you will determine what their facial micro expressions signify. Many players use sad facial micro expressions on purpose. Get to know if they are bluffing.

A Chinese general said:

If you know yourself and your opponent don't be afraid of the outcome of every battle, If you know yourself but not the opponent for every battle won you will lose one battle, If you don't know yourself and your opponent you will lose every battle.

If you play poker on line no one can see your “Poker face”, and you can't see and read theirs. However you can still read the speed a player responds and by his betting style. If e.g. a player who usually plays fast seems to think about his next move, this could be a sign of weakness or strengtheners. One delayed move could mean nothing, if however after 10 or 20 times you ascertain that a slight delay signifies that the player doesn't have a good hand you can use this information to play accordingly. You can read their personality by analyzing the way they bet. Until you determine what any micro on line move signifies don't risk too much unless you think you have a strong hand. If you can't understand the psychology of an on line Poker player behind the computer screen then you could have trouble in becoming a good player no matter what Poker variation you prefer.

After the end of each round the cards should be given back to the dealer and start all over, so that a card-counter guy doesn't have an unfair advantage against other players. Do that and insist on that no matter which Poker variation you play.

that you mustn't play Poker and at the same time watch TV, listen to the News, e.t.c. This game needs discipline. Every Poker variation does.

The cards owe you nothing. If you have a strong card and you lose, what you mustn't lose is your temper. If you do lose your temper or if your moral is broken, leave immediately, if you stay you will probably lose more money. Cards are cold, so should you be. If you can't follow this piece of advice forget about playing Poker.

When playing poker you need to be prepared to call when raised. You never know your opponent's cards but a player could always be bluffing. So if e.g. you have a pair you could risk it.

Remember however a basic rule. Empty guns kill. In Poker Strong

hands ruin. If you have a gun you know is loaded you will never turn it

against a friend and you will never pull the trigger. Some people in the past shot accidentally friends and relatives by pulling the trigger, believing the gun they were holding was empty. In Poker if you don't have a good hand you probably will never risk too much. If you have a strong hand e.g. a Full House then you will risk. However the more you risk the more you are likely to lose. Still if you have a Full House your chances to win are great. Especially if you manage to give the false impression that you don't have a good hand. However you have to be prepared to lose and if you do never, ever lose your temper. Strong hands could ruin you. Don't overvalue your hand unless you have Royal Flush.

A player who was victorious against you, a player who forced you to fold while having no good hand, are players doing what they have to do and they did it better than you. That's all. Or players that got lucky. You need to see what they really do better than you. So don't lose your temper. You will never learn new tricks this way

and you will never improve yourself and your strategies. Sometimes losing

Luck is vital for poker, however the more you play the less important it becomes. The real player is the player who handles the worst combinations. Everyone can risk when having Four Aces (AAAA). The real player is seen when he doesn't have good cards, when he experiences a bad night. A lousy player can be lucky but his luck won't last for ever. Given time the good player will prevail.

If you want to bluff you have to be very cautious. If other players read your Poker face, or your Poker screen then you risk losing too much.

You have to mix your style to make yourself unpredictable. Send confusing messages to your opponents, in order to make it impossible for them to understand your psychological profile. The best you can do is to give the impression that you are bluffing when you really aren't. When you have a strong hand play week at first to make other players believe you are week and bet more money. If you have a week hand play like you have a strong hand. Don't overdo it though. Then change this tactic again and again, so that the other players will be unable to predict you. Predictability of yourself is not something you should want when playing Poker.

If you realize that an opponent is angry it is possible that he will make mistakes. You have to expect mistakes from an angry opponent and be prepared for it. An angry person loses some of his IQ according to what scientists say, so a person with less IQ is vulnerable.

Like we said the cards owe you nothing. The fact that you won doesn't mean that you will win again, and the fact that you lost doesn't mean that you won't lose again. Don't get overexcited if you win.

If e.g. you play 100 £,$,€ and you want to win 50 £,$,€ and you do, leave immediately, don't try to win more. If you can afford to lose 50 £,$,€ and you do, leave immediately, If you stay and risk to lose more, then do so, but know that you risk losing it all. It's up to you, but we advise against it.

Live your emotions aside when playing poker. They are bad advisers. So is greed. So is irrationality. It is like alcohol and driving. Never mix them.

Diamonds and Hearts are red, Spades and clubs are black. In order to have a

Flush you need 5 hearts, 5 diamonds, 5 spades or 5 clubs. Don't think that you have a Flush because you have 5 red or 5

black cards. Flush is depended on the symbol not its color. Never make

mistakes like this. If the other players realize something like that you will be characterized as an incompetent player. Unless you want to give this impression be cautious. If you make this mistake, this means that you are not concentrated. If you are tired or lose your appetite, leave immediately don't fight your own fatigue and the other players simultaneously. An extra opponent is not a desirable opponent. Fatigue will pay you nothing

whatever you bet.

When watching a tournament on television you can learn from professionals not by doing exactly what they did, but by understanding why they did what they did, i.e. what they hoped to accomplish. If you can't analyze their real incentives don't imitate what they do. Behind every move lies a valley of knowledge and ideas. Don't see the top of the iceberg. The iceberg is larger and at least 90% of it is hidden under water. By viewing the top of it you see nothing. You will never learn how to drive merely by watching TV, it could be a start, nothing more, nothing less.

You have to consider the aforementioned advices no matter what Poker variation you play. This is paramount. If you become a good player in one variation this doesn't mean that you will be automatically a good player in other Poker variations as well. No matter how good you are, there is always a better opponent.

Texas Hold’ em

This Poker variation is the most popular nowadays, it gained its popularity the last ten years, it seems easy but it has its own difficulties. It began in Texas, at least this is the holding view nowadays. It has it's own variations such us No-Limit e.t.c.

You are dealt two cards known as the hole cards that you can't change. However you can make combinations with the open five community

cards and ultimately choose the best 5 cards of the 7 cards you have before

you. The game is played as follows: All players are dealt two hole

cards. Two players are obliged to

bet. Small blind is set and the player with it bets the minimum bet, while the player having the Big

Blind has to double the initial bet.

The Dealer has the advantage of

watching all other players’ bets before betting. This is why Dealer (Button),

Small blind and Big Blind change all the time clockwise, i.e. the Dealer used

to have the Big Blind, then the Small Blind.

The other players are not obliged to bet if they feel that their cards can't be combined in a way they could win so they have the option to Fold. The players can raise or check-call (call when you follow the bet, check if you don't raise). They can also bet All in though they avoid it at the beginning, even if they have a good pair of cards.

Most players check in order to see the first open community three cards known as “Flop”. If a player raises and another player instead of checking also raises the others players can either fold, call or raise. After reaching the player who raised first we have the Flop.
