This Poker variation is the most popular nowadays, it gained its popularity the last ten years, it seems easy but it has its own difficulties. It began in Texas, at least this is the holding view nowadays. It has it's own variations such us No-Limit e.t.c.
You are dealt two cards known as the hole cards that you can't change. However you can make combinations with the open five community cards and ultimately choose the best 5 cards of the 7 cards you have before you. The game is played as follows:
All players are dealt two hole cards. Two players are obliged to bet. Small blind is set and the player with it bets the minimum bet, while the player having the Big Blind has to double the initial bet.
The Dealer has the advantage of
watching all other players’ bets before betting. This is why Dealer (Button), Small blind and Big Blind change all the time clockwise, i.e. the Dealer used to have the Big Blind, then the Small Blind.
The other players are not obliged to bet if they feel that their cards can't be combined in a way they could win so they have the option to Fold.
The players can raise or check-call (call when you follow the bet, check if you don't raise). They can also bet All in though they avoid it at the beginning, even if they have a good pair of cards.
Most players check in order to see the first open community three cards known as “Flop”. If a player raises and another player instead of checking also raises the others players can either fold, call or raise. After reaching the player who raised first we have the Flop.
accordingly. Most players who don't have a pair, or a flush, or a straight, or if they don't see any chance of making any combination usually fold or bluff by raising. When the betting is over, the fourth card follows, which is known as
“Turn”.
The players bet again and then the fifth card follows know as “River”.
The players bet again and then they open their cards.
The winner is determined by the best combination of the community and their own cards. Of the 7 cards only 5 can be combined.
If, however all players fold before Flop there will be no Flop, the same applies for Turn and River. The remaining player is automatically the winner and he is not obliged to show his cards.
The aforementioned Poker advices apply here as well.
In Texas hold em you have different strategies in Pre-Flop, Pre-Turn, Pre-River and Post-River situations. Usually a player having a pair could bet before the Flop. Still the pair he may have does not guarantee victory, even if he has AA. In any case a player beginning with AA is more likely to win than any other player statistically speaking.
No matter what the hole cards are you must not let your opponents realize their strength or their weakness. It is best if you are able to give them false massages. If you do that you could achieve making them believe that you are bluffing though you aren't. This is the best you can do. In order to accomplish that perhaps you should be caught bluffing provided of course you don't lose too much.
Some players fold if they don't have a pair or if their hole cards are less than 10. However a player with 2 3 could win if after Flop, Turn and River 2 3 appear on the table. It is possible to happen. If 2 3 have the same suit many players keep them in order to try Flush. They can also try straight.
An A a 4 and a 5 would do. However if you have 2 3 don't risk too much if you see that the other players raise before Flop. It is better if you fold. This is up to you.
If you don't begin with strong cards you could fold, sit back, see how the other players are playing without risking any money, and when you have good hand you will have more money to risk. Sit back, observe, strike when ready. Before realizing the psychological profile of the other players you shouldn't bet too much, because if you lose you won't be able to take advantage of your opponents' psychological profile knowledge combined with a good hand. Stay strong, be patient. Impatience is a bad companion.
After the flop and provided you have remained in the game if you see no Flush, no Straight, no pairs and no potential, fold if the other players raise. If they check you can check and wait for the Turn. If you raise and your opponents fold you could win before Turn, this depends on you, whether you want to win more or take no risk and win what you can, which is not a bad strategy. Better having one than nothing.
You can pretend that you are weak. The others may raise believing that you will fold. However if they realize that you tricked them they will be cautious later on. Perhaps it is best if you remain cold as a statute all the time giving them no massages at all. Make your eyes speechless.
If you see that other players raise after River and your hand is weak, fold unless you know that the other player is bluffing. If you risk everything by betting all in then your “curiosity” could cost you everything.
If there are two players and one of them has bet all in, or if all players have bet all in they open their cards because no more bets will be allowed.
It is always better to stay in the game tricked than leave the game broke. Better tricked than broke. Always remember that. If you stay in the game you will get your chances, but not to get even with the player who tricked you. This must never be your goal. Your goal is to win money, nothing more, nothing less. If you realize that you lost your goal fold and leave the table immediately. Play your cards right.
AA and the community cards after the flop are 4 7 6 and the opponent has 7 9 you obviously win till this moment, though you may not know it, because the opponent has a 7 pair and you have an A pair. If the Turn is 8 nothing changes, if however the River is 7 then you lose cause three 7 beats two A.
You could be really unlucky if you lose like that, however it can happen, so if you see two community cards of the same value don't bet too much if you don't have Three of a Kind. There is a chance if raising before, flop, after flop and before turn the player with 7 9 to fold. If this happens then you win.
As you may have already realized nothing is certain. In Texas Hold' em you risk all the time though you may have some idea, however a player could make you believe that he has a card that he doesn't have. It is easy to predict and be tricked or trick i.e. bluff. In any case, theoretically speaking you can have
some idea as to what the cards of your remaining opponent could be. You have to check if the cards an opponent has could give him Flush, Straight, or Full House. This is easier to tell after the River. In Texas Hold' em you can use all your cards but if you do you can use only 3 community cards to make the best combination. Alternatively you can use 1 card and 4 community cards. You can use all the community cards if their combination is the best for you e.g. if the community cards give you a Flush or Straight. If all players use all the community cards you have draw and the pot is split. Many players don't know this rule, in other poker variations this rule doesn't apply, so before you begin you need to ask the players if they know and accept this. If they don't they play a variation of Texas Hold' em either by misunderstanding the rules or voluntarily changing them. Classical Texas Hold' em has this rule nonetheless. Don't take for granted that all players know the rules of every Poker variation. We personally have heard players believing that Flush beats Full House. Avoid such players who play their own games unless you are absolutely certain that you know their rules and you accept them.
