ED Plugin Setup Guide
Note: A video describing this process is available by clicking on the Play icon on the Main Emily Interface.Current Users: The Emily ED Controls v3.3 file is not updated in this release. Thus, steps 1-4 may be skipped, but not step 5.
New Users: Complete steps 1-5.
1 – Launch the game, then select Options, and then select Controls.
2 – Select the Emily ED Controls v3.3 key bindings from the drop-down at the top of the Controls screen.
Note: If Emily ED Controls v3.3 the file is not present in the list, see the Special Note below.
3 – Bind all of your custom Keyboard/Mouse/Joystick/Gamepad bindings to the Right column only. Then apply adjustments to Sensitives, Dead
Zones, and inversion settings. Your previous custom bindings and settings can be referenced during this process. Do not change the bindings in the Left column (except axis binding).
Critical Note: If the “ARE YOU SURE?” window appears while binding a custom binding, either select a different key or bind the custom key with
the understanding that the related Spoken Command will not function correctly.
4 – Click the Apply button.
5 – Review the Detailed Command List for Notes, Cautions, and Tips.
Note: If a game update occurs, please ensure that the Emily ED Controls key bindings file is loaded. If the file is not listed in the dropdown, verify that the Game Controller(s) are connected. If the problem persists, then paste the backup copy of the Emily ED Controls file into the Bindings folder described in the Special Note and complete Steps 1-4.
Special Note: A backup of the Emily ED Controls file is available @ C:\Program Files (x86)\Emily - The Ultimate Voice Assistant\Game Plugins Backup. This is available, for instance, if the Game is reinstalled and you need to reload the file. Simply Copy/Paste the Emily ED Controls file into AppData\Local\Frontier Developments\Elite Dangerous\Options\Bindings and then repeat Steps 1-5.
ED Plugin Command List
Panel Tabs Open/Close/Check Philosophy
While all four panels can be viewed in a number of ways, using voice commands to view individual panel Tabs is more efficient as
the Pilot can access any Tab immediately on the Target, Comms, and Systems Panels. The Roles Panel is accessible by Command,
but the Tabs are not (see Vehicle/Fighter Commands).
There are important considerations for using Panel Tab Commands:
1) Always close Tabs by speaking the respective Close Command.
• EXAMPLE: You say “
Open Chat
” and when you are finished interacting with the Chat Tab, you say “
Close Chat
”.
2) You can open a Tab and then open another Tab and even open another Tab, but once you are finished interacting, you must
close the last active Tab by speaking the respective Close Command.
• EXAMPLE: “
Open Chat
”, “
Open Status
”, then “
Open Transactions
” and close with “
Close Transactions
”.
3) The Check Commands are great for quickly viewing or interacting with information on a Tab, however, saying an Open or
Close Command while the Check Command is in process (i.e. the Panel is displayed) will result in Default Tab misalignment.
• EXAMPLE: You say “
Check Inventory
” and immediately say “
Open Chat
”, which prevents the Systems Panel from
resetting to the Default Tab. Wait for the check Command to process, then speak an Open Tab Command.
4) A Target must be scanned before the “
Check Sub-Targets
” Command or the “
Check Target Inventory
” Command is spoken.
Otherwise, the Panel tabs will become misaligned. The procedure to correct the misalignment is a little different. First, align
your ship toward the Target. Once scanning is complete, say “
Check Target Inventory
”, and then once the panel appears, say
“
Next Tab
” (or manually select the Target Tab). Now the Tabs are aligned; so repeat the Command.
5) REQUIRED SETTING: The Auto Focus on Text Input Field option in the Mode Switches bindings is defaulted to OFF in the
Emily ED Controls file. If you set it to = ON, then Comms Panel Commands will not function correctly.
