FAQs for playing Subscription TV, Movie Box, and Movie Rentals

This section explores messages given by the app when playing on mobiles and tablets.

How many playback devices are allowed?

A playback device is any paired mobile or tablet on which you can play Fetch TV content.

There’s a limit of 5 devices that can be paired to the Fetch TV Box to watch Standard Definition Free to Air Recordings. However, you can only have up to 3 registered playback devices at any time for watching live Subscription TV channels, Movie Box, or Movie Rentals.

Fetch TV will register your mobile or tablet the first time you play Subscription TV, Movie Box, or a Movie Rental on it. You can then register 2 more mobiles or tablets to have a total of 3 playback devices for this type of content.

Figure 46

Registering a device for playback of Movie Box

(40)

• If you Cancel the warning, you can’t watch Movie Rentals, Movie Box movie or Subscription TV on this new mobile or tablet. However, you can still watch on your Fetch TV Box and TV, or on one of your other registered playback devices, and you can always watch SD Free to Air recordings on any paired mobile or tablet.

• If you choose to Switch Out, you may then choose the device to switch out, and will then need to enter your Parental PIN to proceed.

You can switch playback devices if you already have 3 playback devices registered and need to add a new device. If you try to watch Subscription TV, Movie Box, or a Movie Rental on the unregistered mobile or tablet, the app will prompt you to switch out an existing device. There is a limit of 2 switches per calendar month and 10 switches per calendar year.

Once your new mobile or tablet is registered, the content will start playing. If your device cannot be registered at this point, the app will inform you.

Figure 47

Playback Unavailable (maximum number of registered devices)

Figure 48: Choose mobile or tablet Figure 49: Enter Parental PIN

(41)

What happens if you reach the switch out limit?

Can I play content on more than one mobile device at the same time?

If you’ve already switched playback devices twice this month or 10 times this year, the app will inform you.

Movie Box or Subscription TV - You can watch Movie Box

or Subscription TV on up to 2 of your playback devices at the same time. If you try to play Movie Box or Subscription TV while your other 2 playback devices are currently playing this type of content, the app will prompt you to stop playback on one of the other devices.

Movie Rentals - You can play 1 movie rental at a time across

all your devices (mobiles, tablets or Fetch TV Box). If you try to play a movie rental while one of your other devices is playing this type of content, you’ll see a message and, if you wish, can stop playback on the other device.

Figure 50: Playback unavailable this month or year

You can still watch on your Fetch TV Box and TV, or watch Standard Definition Free to Air recordings on your paired mobile or tablet.

(42)

If you choose to stop playback, the content will start playing on the new device. The device which was bumped will show a “Playback interrupted” message.

Figure 53: Playback interrupted message

Note: There’s no limit to the number of paired mobiles or tablets on which you can watch your Standard Definition Free to Air recordings at the same time.

(43)

Is playing Fetch TV content on my mobile device unmetered?

Playing Subscription TV, Movie Box, or Movie Rental content will be unmetered if your Fetch TV Box was provided by your ISP and your mobile device is connected to your Fetch TV service provider’s broadband network via Wi-Fi. You’ll get a warning if you try to play content while your mobile device is connected to a mobile network (such as, 3G) as this data will be metered.

Playing Subscription TV or Movie Box, or Movie Rental content to your mobile device will always be metered if you bought your Fetch TV Box from a retail store or second hand.

Figure 54

Playback metering warning

Playback limited to Wi-Fi connection

Some content on the Fetch TV App can only be played over a broadband network (i.e. is not playable over a mobile network such as 3G). You’ll need to turn on Wi-Fi on your mobile device and choose your Fetch TV service provider’s broadband network connection to play the content.
