Quixant debug is a superior debugging system which enables

you to efficiently trace, isolate and address bugs both in a test

or live gaming environment.

Quixant’s ATS is a built-in, customisable hardware-based tracing system that allows remote tracing of code execution and used hardware resources.

This is a similar concept as the Car Health Check system: connect an external device to the car engine to check status of the car and troubleshoot issues without changing anything in the car.

The key advantages of Debug over traditional tracing and debugging techniques are: – The metrics and the signalling are handled by the hardware module

and don’t consume CPU resources

– Built-in metrics are gathered by normal gaming devices execution, so data collection does not impact the hardware performance

When developing world-class games, Quixant Play is the ideal

solution to create the most detailed and vibrant content.

The solution enables you to reduce the impact of pre-rendered

video decoding, deliver the highest resolution content, and

enable smoother game play and more video content to be

played simultaneously.

Quixant Play is a unified solution for video decoding and rendering (VDR) and overcomes the common limitations of other video players. Included at no additional cost on Quixant’s gaming hardware platforms, the solution eliminates the need for costly third-party licenses, or the cost of developing solutions in house.

The solution enables you to manage multiple streams of high-quality video content of up to 4K with a high compression rate, while keeping computer resource usage at a minimum and streamlining the development process. Quixant Play works in tandem with Illuminate, Quixant’s Cabinet LED solution, providing both automatic or managed integration of LED output during the playback of video streams. Quixant Play can be used as a stand-alone player or can be integrated into games for the playback of video animations with Alpha channel. In both cases, Quixant Play codec leverages GPU hardware acceleration, leaving the CPU resources free to perform other tasks, which on average uses less than 8% CPU load for 1080p 60FPS video streams.

LED Controller

Quixant’s Secure BIOS is a BIOS/UEFI solution that manages the secure boot process and can:

– Detect changes to BIOS and storage devices

– Create a trusted chain, where every element that is going to run is checked by the previous one

TPM

Quixant gaming platforms can integrate a TPM chip, enabled by the Quixant BIOS, for code and data verification and encryption. Any TPM enabled OS can use the TPM chip, through standard APIs or system tools, to encrypt data and code, or to take advantage of TPM-based security features, like Trusted GRUB Bootloader or Bitlocker Secure Startup.

Anti-Tamper Keys

Anti-tamper keys are 8 32-bytes keys that can be written and read during normal operation but are automatically deleted when an intrusion is detected by the triggering of a specific intrusion switch.

Keys can be accessed and configured through a software API, which in turn can optionally be set to work only with authenticated access.

One of the anti-tamper keys is a write-once, lifetime key.

secure and powerful authentication solution. This customisable

feature locks all aspects of the game when the machine is restarted

and requires a password authentication to take place to enable

usage. Get the necessary assurance that your game is secure

The solution enables you to authenticate the software against the hardware and vice versa and using the available licenses you can enable or disable specific games and features. You can also enable software authentication so that all gaming features are disabled until a password authentication takes place.

The software authentication feature is a hardware implemented lock of gaming PC platform gaming devices, (digital I/O, NVRAM and the AES engine), until an authentication has taken place. The solution:

– Locks the hardware at each machine restart

– The machine can be used as a standard PC before the authentication has taken place – A password must be provided, through a dedicated API, to unlock the devices – The standard implementation locks the digital Input/outputs, NVRAM and the AES engine

Unique Hardware ID

All Quixant devices have a Unique hardware ID: an identification number which is guaranteed to be unique among all Quixant PC platforms. It can be used for device traceability, registration and licensing, but additionally, it can be used as an input parameter for cryptographic operations.

The unique Hardware ID is marked on each board during production.

Protected EEPROM

The protected EEPROM feature is a non-volatile memory space where authentication is required before access is allowed. Quixant’s EEPROM capacity ranges from 1 to 8 Kbits. The chip is soldered to the gaming hardware platform and implements an industry-standard challenge and response secure hash algorithm. The software solutions communicate with the chip through I2C protocol.

NVRAM

Quixant’s Non-Volatile Memory Solution Non-volatile random-access memory (NVRAM) is a memory that saves stored data regardless of whether the platform’s power is on or off, which is used for game meters (e.g. coins in, game won) and other critical information.

Quixant’s customers use NVRAM for regulatory requirements to ensure game reboots are reliable, consistent and recovery is managed without any interruption to the game cycle. NVRAM is similar to a SSD, with some differences:

– NVRAM is faster but has a smaller capacity (Megabytes VS Gigabytes)

– NVRAM has infinite endurance; SSD has a limited number of writes – Some type model of NVRAM

needs batteries

Quixant NVRAM solution offers key functionalities, such as the Checksum calculation, memory copy, memory verification and data mirroring in different memory banks. Quixant also provides alternative options for storing smaller amounts of data which are embedded in the platform.

FPGA Integration

Field Programmable Gate Array (FPGA) is an integrated electronic circuit that can be programmed to implement basic hardware functionalities such as the NVRAM, digital I/O, LED, serial ports, ATS, AES security engine and other security features, which are not available on a standard computer.

The Logging Processor is a battery-backed microcontroller which monitors and tracks important system events which are a key security element in the GLI specifications, and a mandatory requirement.

The regulatory gaming security features the Logging Processor implements are: – Intrusion supervision: Supervising

the cabinet doors and case doors – Precise real-time clock (RTC) – System event log: Managed even

when the system is off

The logging processor also monitors battery charging levels, provides a hardware watchdog which allows you to reset the system if it malfunctions and main power handling and supervision, allowing you to turn the system on or off.
