To develop student’s awareness and understanding of the project phases, lifecycle, scope, the various stakeholders, site organization and the need for scheduling and monitoring to enable them to develop the skills required for managing construction projects.

9. Course Objectives

1. To introduce students the various aspects involves in managing construction projects Course Learning Outcomes (CLO)

At the end of the semester students should be able to:

CLO1: Understand the definition of construction project and the roles, functions and responsibilities of the various parties in the construction industry.

CLO2: Understand the life cycle, phases and the project scope of construction project CLO3: Know the process of preparing feasibility studies

CLO4: Understand the project implementation plan, scheduling and monitoring of construction project CLO5: Know the pre-contract and post contract activities involved in managing construction project CLO6: Understand site organization of a construction project

CLO7: Know the process of materials plants and manpower procurement and planning for a construction Project CLO8: Understand project quality management

This course introduces the students to the construction industry, project life cycle, project scope, project monitoring, and project scheduling, construction site organization, the stages involved in project management activities of a

construction from feasibility studies, project implementation plan, pre-contract and post-contract activities. The project management scope also covers resource management, quality management and Information management.
