Agilent & ETS-Lindgren:
A Perfect Solution Partnership
Agilent and ETS-Lindgren have had a cooperative relationship since the 1980s when EMCO, a
predecessor of ETS-Lindgren, supplied equipment for OEM resale to Agilent’s predecessor, Hewlett-Packard. Today the cooperation continues as Agilent and ETS-Lindgren combine their experience, expertise and specialization to create total system solutions for wireless test and measurement.

Wireless Solutions
Development
For a wireless technology to succeed in the marketplace, it must provide the end user with an acceptable and reliable level of performance. Network operators and designers, wireless-device and antenna manufacturers all need effective tools to qualify devices at all stages in the product development sequence.
Agilent Technologies offers world-class test solutions that perform pre-conformance radio conformance testing (RCT), radiated performance testing (RPT) and protocol conformance testing (PCT). Agilent’s instrumentation is a perfect complement to ETS-Lindgren’s wireless test
chambers, measurement antennas, DUT positioners and EMQuest™ software. Combined, the products, services, experience and expertise of Agilent and ETS-Lindgren provide a seamlessly integrated solution for wireless-product performance testing.

Po we rf ul graphing capabilities allow for data analysis in a variety of graphical formats. Field components can be viewed simultaneously in sizeable panes, or full size under individual tabs.
Software
The “engine” that powers all of our antenna measurement systems is EMQuest EMQ-100. The software is designed to test wireless device antenna performance for conformance to CTIA and WiMAX Forum™ standards. EMQ-100 performs azimuth pattern measurement and/or full spherical antenna pattern measurement for wireless devices in either transmit or receive mode.
Post-processing calculations include these and other parameters:
total radiated power (TRP)
near horizon total radiated power (NHTRP) total isotropic sensitivity (TIS)
near horizon total isotropic sensitivity (NHTIS) derivation of antenna half-power beam-width directivity
gain

AMS-8050
The AMS-8050 is a moveable free-standing wireless test system for rapid prototyping, design validation and pre-certification measurement.
AMS-8600
The AMS-8600 is an integrated wireless test system with a tapered configuration. The tapered design allows measurements to be made at lower frequencies.
AMS-8800
The AMS-8800 is an integrated wireless test system designed for making measurements of larger devices using the Conical Cut method.
AMS-8500
The AMS-8500 is an integrated wireless test system designed in a rectangular configuration for both pre- and full certification testing.

Antennas
Antennas have been at the core of our business since the late 1970s. Today, we use the latest computational modeling tools to create the high performance antennas needed to measure the characteristics of tomorrow’s wireless antennas. All of our antennas are calibrated at our own A2LA accredited lab.

Positioners & Controllers
Our multi-axis positioning system (MAPS™) for Great Circle Cut measurements rotates the wireless device under test (DUT) so TRP and TIS can be measured and displayed as spherical antenna patterns. MAPS provides a 360° of independent rotation in both azimuth and ortho axes, while keeping the test device on the center of both rotation axes. MAPS are constructed with low dielectric materials to minimize the obstruction and distortion of RF-generated fields.

for Wireless
Design and Development
Agilent is an active participant in the development of test processes and measurement methods in many of the wireless connectivity standards. We are determined never to let test equipment needs stand in your way of developing innovative products for evolving wireless standards.
Integration and Interoperability
Agilent provides test equipment that can be used to help ensure your wireless products will conform to standards and interoperate with same-technology devices from multiple vendors. Agilent also provides tools and services to streamline the way you prepare for certification, helping you evaluate module performance, test interoperability, and make sure your integration effort results in certified products.
Manufacturing
As technologies move into manufacturing, Agilent extends its expertise to offer stand-alone products and system solutions to help get your designs to market faster and more efficiently. And, we will continue refining our offering of design and test tools as technologies mature and cost-of-test issues drive manufacturing efficiency.
ETS-Lindgren has been the leading force in wireless over-the-air (OTA) performance testing since 2002. We developed a system for Part 2 testing that was installed at the first CTIA Authorized Test Lab (CATL). Today, over 75% of all CATLs worldwide use ETS-Lindgren systems. More recently, ETS-Lindgren was the lead technical contributor for the WiMAX Forum Radiated Performance Test Plan (RPT).
Again, we developed a system for RPT testing that was installed at the first WiMAX™ Designated Certification Laboratory (WFDCL) and is currently used by all WFDCLs in operation at this time.
Agilent Technologies, the world’s premier measurement company, offers a full range of design, test and management solutions that span the range of wireless technologies. Agilent products cover the lifecycle from early design and development, through volume manufacturing, to network deployment and service assurance. Agilent engineers—experts in test and
measurement—have dedicated their careers to understanding the intricacies of evolving wireless technologies to provide you with the solutions you need, when you need them. So, as you take wireless forward, Agilent clears the way.
