scanner,however,characteristicallyhastheCCDsensorandthelensinthe
wholeunitattachedontothemechanismasanindependentunit.Thisscanner
isalsoequippedwiththenewlydesignedfocusingfunctionwhichenablesthe
scannertofocusbyadjustingthedistancebetweenthelensandtheCCD
sensor.Sincetheseparateunitsinthemechanismsuchasthelampandthe
mirrorsmoveattheirownspeedforreading,theincidentdistanceofthe
reflectedlightfromthedocumenttotheCCDsensoriskeptconstant.
Thecontrolcircuitboardandthepowersupplycircuitboardarestoredinthe
separateshieldcompartment.Sincetheonlyconnectionsfromtheboardslead
totheconnectorboardinthescannermechanism,theshieldcompartmentis
easytoremoveandthescanneriseasytomaintain.

SincethecolorCCDlinesensorisusedforthereadingdevice,onlyonelight
sourceisequippedandlightisseparatedthroughtheRGBcolorfilter.
AsshowninFigure2-2,thelightsource(highluminancecoldcathodexenon
lamp),thefirstreflectionmirrorunit,andthesecondreflectionmirrorunitmove
independentlyattheirownspeed.Thereforethelengthoftheincidentlight
reflectedfromthedocumenttotheCCDsensoriskeptconstant.
TheverticaldistancebetweenthelampplusthemirrorintheLamp/mirrorunit
andthedocumentsurfaceremainconstant.Theverticaldistancebetweenthe
mirrorsintheMirrorunitalsoremainsconstant.However,thehorizontal
distancesbetweentheLamp/mirrorunit(rate=x2)andtheMirrorunit(rate=
x1)aswellasbetweentheMirrorunitandLensunitareconstantlychanging.
Thesteppingmotordrivesbothmovableunitsviawires.
TheCCDsensorandthelensareunitedintooneunit,whichissemi-fixedon
thebaseframe.TheonlydifferencefromGT-12000isthattheCCDlense
focusisfixed.
