Grant Procedure

Three ways of in­house training

1. Patent Attorney Office

­ become a Patent Attorney Candidate 

2. Patent Attorney Office

­ contract as Patent Engineer for 10 (or 8) years ­ Law Studies, give Final Exam

3. In Industry – Patent Department

­ European Patent Attorney is more important ­ work usually 2­3 years as Patent Engineer

Patent Examiner – EPO (part 1)

1. Requirements

university degree, English, French, German 2. EPO will contact you if your application is suitable 3. Selection procedure 1 hour time to understand: 3 patent applications, 1 tech. drawing selection division will:  question you about the technical facts

Patent Examiner – EPO (part 2)

4. Time of probation: 1 year

2 month in­house courses (law studies, how­to search and  examine ) rest of time is training on the job, additional courses tutor (supervisor) for 6 month 5. Career career chances are small first career step after 10 – 15 years   start as an examiner – become a director (chance 1/80)

Patent Examiner – GPTO (part 1)

1. 

Requirements

university degree, 5 year work experience in natural sciences  or technology, IT­experience 2. 

Selection procedure

you have an interview with patent examiner 3. 

Time of in­house training: 1,5 years

courses (law, how­to search and examine)

3. In­house training cont'd one tutor of the examination section your working  first rating after 7 month, second rating after 17 month 4. 

Career

not earlier than 3 years ­ head of examination section
