What is Local Government Professionals?

Founded in 1936, Local Government Professionals Australia (LG Professionals) is a not-for-profit professional association representing the interests of its members - managers and aspiring managers working in the local government sector across Australia.

LG Professionals is continually expanding its charter and membership services to ensure that:

 Local government management continues to develop and improve;  The highest professional and ethical standards are maintained; and  It’s members are at the forefront of change and innovation.

In Tasmania, LG Professionals has three Branches, with more than 240 members working throughout all Councils in the State.

Who is eligible to become an LG Professionals Tasmania Corporate Member?

Any company or organisation that has an interest in dealing with councils, keeping abreast of emerging local government trends and sharing ideas and management techniques with key local government decision-makers.

Corporate Membership Opportunities

LG Professionals holds a number of events throughout the year that provide a fast, efficient and effective way to showcase your business, products or services to decision-makers in local government.

LG Professionals Tasmania would be pleased to consider proposals relating to the provision of services to LG Professionals members or in-kind assistance to the organisation.

To assist with your forward planning, this brochure outlines Corporate Membership opportunities for 2016.

Annual Conference

LG Professionals Tasmania’s major event, which will be held at the Cradle Mountain Hotel from 12 to 14 October 2016provides a great opportunity for corporate members to access many of the key decision makers in Local Government.

Conference delegates are served their meals and refreshments in the trade display area, providing a number of opportunities for corporate members to meet and talk with them. The Conference social functions are also ideal occasions to extend these friendships.

Principal Conference Sponsor

LG Professionals Tas has entered into a long term partnership with Tasplan Super. Tasplan has a strong connection with local government and is locally owned and operated exclusively in Tasmania. LG Professionals Tas is therefore pleased that Tasplan Super will continue to be the Principal Conference Sponsor for a three year period.

The arrangement with Tasplan includes an exclusivity arrangement and no sponsorship arrangements will be entered into with any other superannuation organisations.

The above corporate membership fees are GST inclusive.

Corporate Member Registration Fee

Please note that there will also be a Corporate Member Registration Fee for each corporate member representative to cover the cost of the Conference meals. These are in addition to the above Corporate Membership Fees.

Corporate Member Registration Fee $440 inc GST (Includes all meals during the conference on Thursday and Friday and also includes Wednesday and Thursday night dinner and drinks)

Dinner and Drinks Registration Fee $185 inc GST (Includes Wednesday or Thursday night Dinner and Drinks Only)

Day Registration Fee (Thursday) $145 inc GST (Includes attendance at conference on Thursday – does not include Pre Dinner Drinks and Dinner)

Topical Issues Seminar

Each year, LG Professionals Tasmania provides an opportunity for Council employees to hear from experts on topical issues in Local Government.

Past seminars have dealt with aspects of insurance and risk management, industrial relations and interpreting legislation affecting councils.

Major Event Sponsorship opportunities of $1,210 inc GST are available for each Seminar.

Sponsors will receive:

 Acknowledgement in Seminar Registration brochure

 An opportunity to address the seminar and introduce a speaker (5 minutes)  Signage and promotional material at Seminar

 List of Seminar participants

 Acknowledgement in FOCUS newsletter and on website.

Emerging Leaders Program

This two day Program, facilitated by the University of Tasmania, is a unique professional development opportunity for current leaders, those who aspire to positions of leadership and those who aspire to provide leadership in a particular area of interest within the Local Government sector. The Program focuses on equipping emerging leaders with an understanding of the key challenges facing local government in the future; the skills and competencies to develop leadership ability; and the resources to continue learning and practicing leadership behaviours. The next Program will be held in November 2016.

Emerging Leaders Program Corporate member ($1,320 inc GST). Corporate Partners will receive:

Other Activities

LG Professionals Tasmania is currently developing a number of other activities to be held during 2016-2017 including Breakfast Seminars, Special Interest Groups and a Mentoring Program. If you would be interested in supporting these programs, please contact LG Professionals Tas.
