Step 3: Create Windows Nano Server 2016 VHD image file format

first mount Windows Server 2016 ISO image that will use in installation process

From this wizard you can create a new Nano VHD image or create bootable USB from existing image.

In our scenario we will use first option to create a new Nano VHD image.

Add Nano server computer name, administrator password and select your time zone. Then join Nano

Server to our ITPROLEARN.COM domain.

Step 4: Connect to the created Nano Server VHD through Hyper-V console

From Hyper-V create new Virtual Machine using our Nano server virtual hard disk that we just create. As

explained in the below figures.

Connect our VM to the LAN network through virtual NIC that we created in Hyper-V installation process. The

select existing Nano Server hard disk.

Very simple console to configure some basic configuration like IP addresses and f irewall, there is no command

line or PowerShell, login using your created credential.

Manage Windows Nano Server 2016 (Remotely)

We can manage Nano server remotely from Server Manager, PowerShell and RSAT (Windows Client), in our

scenario we will connect to Nano server remotely from our ITPROLEARN.COM using PowerShell and Server

Manager.

First login to our DC using administrator account then access Server Manager and add Nano Server in Server

manager console so we can manage the Nano Server remotely.

Check Nano server installed roles

Select Nano Sever to check installed roles from the down menu, in our case Nano server has file and storage role.

Access file and storage services from server manager console to browse which server has this role, you will

notice that Nano Server has this role.
