1. DISPLAY AND KEYPAD USAGE

System parameters of ARL-100 lift controllers can be modified easily by using three buttons and

two 7-segment displays located on the board. These buttons are named as follows:

Increase parameter value

Decrease parameter value

Enter menu / Exit menu / To next parameter item

1.1. GETTING STARTED

When system is energized for the first time or restarted the “software version” of controller appears

on display for about 2 seconds.

: The software version of controller is V1.6.

Then the start up message is displayed while the controller checks the bottom limit switch signal

(817). After the bottom limit switch signal is detected, the floor text which is displayed on digital

displays will be indicated. But if there is an error in the system, the error code will be displayed.

: Controller checks the bottom limit switch signal (817)

1.2. ENTER MENU

Entering menu is not allowed while lift is in operation besides the car/landing calls are not accepted

while the controller is in menu mode.

: In order to enter menu push E (Enter) button. The first menu parameter and its value

are displayed one after another.

1.3. PARAMETER SETTINGS

: You can pass through the parameters by pressing E (Enter) button.

: You can change the parameters value by pressing + and - buttons.

The parameters with the numbers P0-P8 are used for system parameters in controller.

The parameters with the numbers d1-d8 are used for car and landing digital display patterns

1.4. EXIT MENU

: In order to exit from menu push and hold E (Enter) button until the display indicates

the floor where the car stays. Also the controller leaves menu while there is no

operation in menu mode for 20 seconds.

When you exit from menu mode, then last configuration you prepared is stored into memory. The

controller uses these new parameters in operation and system is ready to function as a controller

again.

5. TROUBLESHOOTING

 No Inspection Movement

●When inspection switch is turned on, the inspection indicator coded as 869 which is on the ARL-100 board must be turned off. Also the inspection movement buttons must set the 500 and 501 coded indicators. The car connection should  be controlled if the indicators are not acts correctly.

●Be sure that 120 (Stop), 130 (Door Closed) and 140 (Door Locked) circuits are closed when inspection UP or  inspection DOWN buttons are pressed (All signals of these circuits on the controller board have to be on).

●The limit switches may stop movements. The 817 (KSR1) and 818 (KSR2) indicators can not be off at the same time. The limit switches should be controlled if the indicators are off.

Lift Stops Before Reaching Low Speed ( For two speed systems)

●If the same trouble occurs at all floors, possibly the 142 magnetic switch is failed. During traveling with lo w speed 142 indicator must be on. After the lift is at floor level, the 142 magnetic switch has to switch off and stop the lift.

●If the trouble occurs at a specific floor, magnetic switches and the distance between magnets should be controlled.

 Lift Hits Up

●Top limit switch circuit 818 (KSR2) should be controlled. When the lift slows down at the top floor, 818 indicator  must be turned off. If not, the magnetic switch and the magnets should be controlled. M1 and 818 switches slow down the car at the same position. 818 limit switch must not be late to slow down car. Because it corrects the faulty counting of M1 switch.

●The 142 magnetic switch may be failed. When the lift is at floor level, 142 indicator must be off. If not, the magnetic switch and the magnets should be controlled.

 Lift Hits Down

●Bottom limit switch circuit 817 (KSR1) should be controlled. When the lift slows down at the bottom floor, 817 indicator must be turned off. If not, the magnetic switch and the magnets should be controlled. M1 and 817 switches slow down the car at the same position. 817 limit switch must not be late to slow down car. Because it corrects the faulty counting of M1 switch.

●The 142 magnetic switch may be failed. When the lift is at floor level, 142 indicator must be off. If not, the magnetic switch and the magnets should be controlled.

The Retiring Cam Does Not Work

●Check for the retiring cam relay (RLIR) indicator. While it is on and retiring cam does not work, control the 810-2001 circuit.

The Floor Selector Makes Mistakes

●Number of floors must be set correctly from menu.

●Be sure that the 817 and 818 limit switch circuits are working true.

●During the lift movement follow the M1 indicator. It must be periodically turn on and off at each floor level. See if  any false signal exists. If there is a trouble:

●The distance between magnetic switch and magnets are too close or too far. ●The magnetic switch is failure.

●The rail may be magnetized. ●There may be poor magnets.

The M1 Signal Is Switching But The Counter Does Not Work

●Unless each 817 and 818 indicators are on, the counter does not work because limit switches forces to reset po sition. Remember that when the lift is moved by manually pressing onto the contactors, selector does not count correctly  because of an unknown direction data.

(10)

When Stop Button Is Pressed The Counter Shows The Top Floor

●The common of 817 and 818 limit switches has to be 100 (+24V).

Automatic Door Can Not Be Close

●The ARL-100 parameters must be correctly programmed. Check the door parameter P3.

●Disconnect K20 terminal (door open signal) from control panel. If the door starts to work, check door photocell sensor and door pressure contact.

●The limit switch signals K19 and K16 may be missed. Bridge K16 and K19 to 100 (+24V signal common) terminal. If the door starts to open/close correctly, check for the K19 and K16 door limit signals.

Automatic Door Can Not Be Open

●The ARL-100 parameters must be correctly programmed. Check the door parameter P3.

●Disconnect DTS terminal (door close signal) from panel. If the door starts to work, check door close button connections.

●Be sure that 142 magnetic switch indicator is off. Remember that door never opens if the car is not at the floor level.

●Be sure that 869 inspection signal indicator is off. Remember that door never opens at inspection mode.

●The limit switch signals K19 and K16 may be missed. Bridge K16 and K19 to 100 (+24V signal common) terminal. If the door starts to open/close correctly, check for the K19 and K16 door limit signals.

Lift Stops Operating And Starts Operating By Itself Without Any Stimulation

●Motor PTC may stop lift. If motor ventilation is not enough , PTC stops lift up to desired temperature.

●Power failures may cause this problem. Check for R,S,T phase line voltages.

When Calling Lift, It Stops At Each Level And Need To Call Again

●If lift does this for each call, the voltages may decrease. Check 100 (24V) terminal voltage while operating. Control the capacitors (3 x 1000uf/35V) for 24V. If line voltage increase too much or neutral signal missed the transformer  output increase also. Check for the line powers and neutral signal.

●If lift does this for a specific call, that call’s latch may be failed. The latch circuit should be controlled. Check  connections for this call. Car flexible cable order is important. There must be no high voltage wire near call signals.

7. GENERAL SAFETY REGULATIONS

All persons performing installation and commissioning work on the ARL-100 Controller

must read these chapters and follow the regulations.

In a lift control system, for a full electrical conformity with EN-81 standards it is required

that controller (control boards), control panel and electrical connections must be proper.

ARKEL guaranties that controller and control panel are in conformity with the

standards. However external connections of control panel and other electrical connections

are under installers’ responsibility.

(13)

There are small points to take care while connecting your flexible cable. Arrange your cable

order according to their electrical signal level. Although the cables have enough insulation, long

parallel cables have transformer effect. The signals can joint between each neighbors. If there is

two or more flexible cables it is better to separate low an high voltage signals.

Here is an example of faulty connection.

In this example ever car lamp on/off operation makes high voltage peaks on line and it can leak to

406 (car call signal). In long term this causes a fault on 406 output transistor. Also there is risk

because of Magnetic cam power lines. 818 and 804 signal may have faulty operation in long term.
