7814 N. Radnor Road Peoria, Illinois 61615 (309) 691-3611

Multitudes, multitudes in the valley of decision! Joel 3:14

Dear Friends of Children in the Womb:

Since the USSR first legalized abortion in 1922, one billion abortion decisions have occurred worldwide. My brother Jerry, who began the Life Chain in Peoria, predicted 20 years ago, just a couple of months before his death, that the prophet Joel’s “multitudes, multitudes” referred to one billion abortion decisions. We now reside in a world where multitudes, multitudes abortion decisions have occurred. As Joel stated in the previous verse, “The vats overflow, for their wickedness is great,” bringing to mind the final judgment memorialized in The Battle Hymn of the Republic’s first two lines, “Mine eyes have seen the glory of the coming of the Lord; He is trampling out the vintage where the grapes of wrath are stored.” All our prayers are necessary.

Please join our stand against the greatest injustice of our time at the Heart of Illinois Life Chain on Sunday, October 6, 2013 from 2:30 to 3:30 p.m. The Heart of Illinois Life Chain is truly a human chain stretching from where abortion decisions occur at 7405 N. University, south on University Street past churches and schools to the Metro Centre, part-owned (12 ½ %) by Washington state’s Planned Parenthood, the northwest’s largest destroyer of life in the womb.

Signs will be distributed again this year from the center of the Life Chain at the corner of University and Northmoor near Richwoods High School and St. Vincent DePaul School. We also encourage church groups to sign up earlier to fill blocks along the route where your church members may go directly to participate. Please bring as many as you can from your church and help us stretch out along this route. Adults standing 15 or 20 feet apart can provide a clear and continuous witness to those driving by as well as enable us to reflect more prayerfully. Children standing beside their parents in prayer provide a strong testimony of family unity to a culture where family divisions are commonplace. Everyone, young and old, may participate in prayer. You may bring water to sustain your stand and, if you cannot stand, bring a lawn chair, too. Our witness is strengthened especially by the weakest among us.

I will gladly speak to any church or group interested in attending. Life Chain signs will be available for pickup weekdays at the new Family Resources Center, 409 NE Monroe, Peoria in September, or at or at the parking lots near Richwoods High School and St. Vincent’s Church at the corner of Northmoor and University streets beginning an hour before the Life Chain.

May God bless your stand for righteousness on behalf of children in the womb. Most gratefully yours in Christ,

Pastors Speak Out

In this issue we present a report on a new pregnancy center that has recently opened in Peoria.

WOMEN’S CARE CENTER OPENS IN PEORIA

Peoria has a new pregnancy center called the Women’s Care Center which opened on Thursday, May 16, 2013 and is located at 7319 N. University Street. This is one of two pregnancy centers located in Peoria. Pregnancy centers are in our community to help women to choose life, not abortion, for their babies. There are twenty two Women’s Care Centers located in the Midwest and Vero Beach, Florida. Over 95 percent of abortion-minded women who receive counseling and an ultrasound choose life for their babies. The new Women’s Care Center is located next to National Health Care, Inc. which is Peoria’s only regional abortion provider on University Street. Last year, Women’s Care Center served 16,731 women who made nearly 70,000 on-site visits.

With a homelike presence, prominent signage and free full-time ultrasounds, the new center will be available for pregnant women in need. The center will provide unconditional love and support as well as free pregnancy testing, prenatal education, free ultrasounds, parenting skills classes and tangible assistance under an incentive program to

encourage good parenting and self-sufficiency. In a recent study in Fort Wayne, Indiana, 97 percent of abortion-minded women receiving counseling and an ultrasound at the Women’s Care Center chose life for their babies. Many of the women come through the “wrong door” looking for the abortion clinic. Women’s Care Center was founded by Dr. Janet E. Smith in South Bend, Indiana twenty nine years ago. (con’t on page 2)

The founders of the Women’s Care Center in Peoria are Christine and Clyde Dennis. Christine is the Board President and Clyde is a Board Director. The additional Board Members are Reverend John-Therese Creus, Theresa Rahe Hardesty, Arlene Heinz, Tom Jenn, Ann Kube, Dan Noeth, Kay Shank, Mary Willi, and Dr. Tom J. Zimmerman. Jody Pitcher is the Director/Lead Nurse, a full time salaried employee on site. There are many sponsors who made the renovations and signs to

the building possible. These same people made it possible to pay salaries where needed; and

many volunteers will be on hand to help. The building/renovation donor is the Kress family. There are approximately 1,500 abortions performed each year at the National Health Care, Inc., the abortion clinic located on North University. One in six babies in our community is

aborted. Women’s Care Center has found that locating beautiful and comforting sites near places that perform abortions and surrounding women with genuine love and concern can touch the hearts of even the most abortion-minded women.

The center helps women before, during, and after pregnancy. With a practical approach to education, young parents learn about adoption, parenting skills, self-sufficiency, abstinence and nurturing their little ones. All programs are incentive-based, so that parents do not receive handouts, but rather earn cribs, car seats, diapers, and baby items by participating in education classes through the Crib Club.

The available services are: Free Pregnancy testing and confidential counseling, Free Ultrasounds, Prenatal education and birth preparation, Prenatal vitamins, Community referrals, Parenting skills classes, Adoption education, Baby basics, Safe sleep education, Self-sufficiency training, Crib Club (cribs, diapers, and baby items), Books for children.

There is no greater return on your investment than the life of a child. To contribute to this wonderful endeavor, volunteer or just ask questions, please call Christine Dennis at (309) 689-0200.

Pro Life Events Remembered - Annual Benefit Sale

The 2013 Central Illinois Right to Life sale was a big success! Thank you's are deserved for help received from Catholic Charities through Sister Anapia, Sarah, Carl and Dennis. We were provided with space to hold the sale. The office supplies and items stored at St. Bernard's were moved to Catholic Charities by Carl and Dennis, board members and other CIRTL members. New signs purchased and placed all over Peoria and West Peoria brought many "customers." We have a dedicated and awesome crew of workers who prepare the generously donated "stuff."

The enthusiasm, gathering and returning tables, hard work and fun of all the volunteers is outstanding. The high quality of the donations, sorting, resorting and pricing benefited the shoppers, CIRTL educational efforts for life and mothers and babies in crisis pregnancy situations.

Thank you! Thank you each and everyone. Jeanne and Sondra
