GAT Information Fact Sheet for Panel of Suppliers for the Provision of

Physical Recreation Services

Townsville City Council (TCC) is establishing a panel of physical recreation service providers who have the capacity, skills, knowledge and qualifications to deliver community-based physical recreation activities. This panel of physical recreation services providers will be utilised for current and future TCC initiatives that involve community-based participation in healthy lifestyle pursuits including, but not limited to, physical recreation.

TCC would like to identify who is out there, what activities are occurring, where they are occurring and who they are targeting. TCC also wants to hear from service providers and community groups that are keen to establish and deliver new physical recreation activities for the Townsville community. TCC is looking for physical recreation service providers and community groups who can deliver inclusive physical recreation activities that are suitable for the whole community. GAT is aiming to ensure that men, women and children from the following target groups can be engaged:

 People with limited abilities and/or people with disabilities

 People from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds (including refugee’s and Australian South Sea Islanders)

 Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander backgrounds  Seniors

 Youth (12-25 years)  Women

This is your opportunity to be involved in this new and exciting community focused initiative as a physical recreation service provider or community group. TCC would like to focus on supporting and promoting activities that activate council’s underutilised spaces and facilities such as smaller neighbourhood parks and emerging community hubs.
