Typographical Conventions

Typographical Conventions

The following typographical conventions are used in this manual. Table 1 General Typographical Conventions

Convention Use

TIBCO_HOME ENV_HOME

SWDIR

Many TIBCO products must be installed within the same home directory. This directory is referenced in documentation as TIBCO_HOME. The default value of TIBCO_HOME depends on the operating system. For example, on Windows systems, the default value is C:\tibco.

Other TIBCO products are installed into an installation environment. Incompatible products and multiple instances of the same product are installed into different installation environments. An environment home directory is referenced in documentation as ENV_HOME. The default value of ENV_HOME depends on the operating system. For example, on Windows systems the default value is C:\tibco.

TIBCO iProcess Engine installs into a directory. This directory is referenced in documentation as SWDIR. The value of SWDIR depends on the operating system. For example,

on a Windows server (on the C: drive)

if SWDIR is set to the C:\swserver\staffw_nod1 directory, then the full path to the swutil command is in the C:\swserver\staffw_nod1\bin\swutil

directory.

on a UNIX or Linux server

if SWDIR is set to the /swserver/staffw_nod1 directory, then the full path to the swutil command is in the /swserver/staffw_nod1/bin/swutil directory or the $SWDIR/bin/swutil directory.

Note: On a UNIX or Linux system, the environment variable $SWDIR should be set to point to the iProcess system directory for the root and swadmin users. code font Code font identifies commands, code examples, filenames, pathnames, and

output displayed in a command window. For example: Use MyCommand to start the foo process.

(9)

Preface

|

ix

bold code font

Bold code font is used in the following ways:

• In procedures, to indicate what a user types. For example: Type admin. • In large code samples, to indicate the parts of the sample that are of

particular interest.

• In command syntax, to indicate the default parameter for a command. For example, if no parameter is specified, MyCommand is enabled:

MyCommand [enable | disable]

italic font Italic font is used in the following ways:

• To indicate a document title. For example: See TIBCO ActiveMatrix BusinessWorks Concepts.

• To introduce new terms For example: A portal page may contain several portlets. Portlets are mini-applications that run in a portal.

• To indicate a variable in a command or code syntax that you must replace. For example: MyCommandPathName

Key

combinations

Key name separated by a plus sign indicate keys pressed simultaneously. For example: Ctrl+C.

Key names separated by a comma and space indicate keys pressed one after the other. For example: Esc, Ctrl+Q.

The note icon indicates information that is of special interest or importance, for example, an additional action required only in certain circumstances.

The tip icon indicates an idea that could be useful, for example, a way to apply the information provided in the current section to achieve a specific result. The warning icon indicates the potential for a damaging situation, for example, data loss or corruption if certain steps are taken or not taken.

Typographical Conventions

Table 2 Syntax Typographical Conventions

Convention Use

[ ] An optional item in a command or code syntax. For example:

MyCommand [optional_parameter] required_parameter

| A logical OR that separates multiple items of which only one may be chosen. For example, you can select only one of the following parameters:

MyCommand para1 | param2 | param3

{ } A logical group of items in a command. Other syntax notations may appear within each logical group.

For example, the following command requires two parameters, which can be either the pair param1 and param2, or the pair param3 and param4.

MyCommand {param1 param2} | {param3 param4}

In the next example, the command requires two parameters. The first parameter can be either param1 or param2 and the second can be either param3 or param4: MyCommand {param1 | param2} {param3 | param4}

In the next example, the command can accept either two or three parameters. The first parameter must be param1. You can optionally include param2 as the second parameter. And the last parameter is either param3 or param4.

Known Issues

This section lists known issues for the current version.

Ineffective Conversion on Native Characters

The default setting for the String type values in the

SWDIR/eaijava/pojo.properties file works ineffectively on the conversion between TIBCO iProcess Engine fields and Java when the values are native characters, such as Euro symbols, and so on.

A workaround for this issue is to use the native2ascii tool to convert all the native characters to Unicode-encoded characters before the native characters are used by the Java runtime environment. Currently, the Java runtime environment only supports ISO8859_1 and UTF8 encoding sets.

The following command is used in the native2ascii converter to convert the native characters:

native2ascii-encodingencoding_ nameinputfileoutputfile Where:

encoding_ name is the name of a specific supported encoding set, including ISO8859_1 and UTF8.

inputfile is the name of a specific input file in which the native characters are saved.

outputfile is the name of a specific output file in which the conversion result is put.

Incorrect Output Result in the Output.xml File for TIBCO iProcess Engine

TIBCO iProcess XML Transform Server Plug-in gives an incorrect output result in the output.xml file for TIBCO iProcess Engine due to the variables in the input.xml file are parsed incorrectly by XSLT 1.0.

When you use the following XML fragment in XSLT 1.0 to initialize a variable or a parameter in the input.xml file, a result tree fragment will be returned, which is a special XPath type in XSLT 1.0. It is not permissible to apply or predicate

operators likeforward slash (/) and double forward slash (//) on a result tree fragment, otherwise, the variables or parameters in the input.xml file will be parsed incorrectly, and causing the output result in the output.xml file to be incorrect:

(34)

22

|

Release Notes <xsl:for-each select="$GOPartialOrderItem/ns1:brickAttributes/ns1:attribute[./ns 3:name=$attributeNameGOComplete]"> <xsl:element name="matchPos"> <xsl:value-of select="position()"/> </xsl:element> </xsl:for-each> </xsl:variable>

A workaround for this issue is to modify the XSLT 1.0 to convert the result tree fragment into a node-set on which applying or predicating operators likeforward slash (/) and double forward slash (//) is applicable, so that the variables in the input.xml file are parsed correctly.

The following is the original XSLT 1.0: <xsl:stylesheet ...>

...

<xsl:if test="string($matchedAttribute/matchPos)=''"> <xsl:copy-of select="."/>

</xsl:if>

The following is the XSLT 1.0 after it is modified:

<xsl:stylesheet xmlns:exsl="http://exslt.org/common" extension-element-prefixes="exsl" ... > ... <xsl:if test="string(exsl:node-set($matchedAttribute)/matchPos)=''"> <xsl:copy-of select="."/> </xsl:if>

The TIBCO JDBC Driver Version 2.x Is Not Supported for Setting Up Oracle

Database Connection

When you use the TIBCO JDBC driver

(tibcosoftwareinc.jdbc.oracle.OracleDriver) version 2.x that is supplied with the TIBCO ActiveMatrix BusinessWorks installation to set up a connection for Oracle database, starting a case in TIBCO ActiveMatrix BusinessWorks will be failed.

The TIBCO JDBC driver will be used for the database connection in the following situations:

• When you select JDBC from the Connection Type list, check the Auto Config

check box in the DatabaseConnection tab of the iProcess Connection shared resource, and haven’t specified the JDBC driver in the BWPlugin.properties file.

(35)

Known Issues

|

23

• When you select JDBC from the Connection Type list, uncheck the Auto Config check box, and type the name of the JDBC driver supplied by TIBCO in the JDBC Driver field manually in the DatabaseConnection tab of the iProcess Connection shared resource.

There are two workarounds for this issue:

• Use the TIBCO JDBC driver version 1.x as a substitution.

To use the TIBCO JDBC driver version 1.x, you need to uninstall the JDBC driver version 2.x first and then reinstall the JDBC driver version 1.x. For more information about the installation and uninstall of TIBCO JDBC driver, see TIBCO Database Drivers Supplement Installation.

• Use the JDBC driver supplied by Oracle

(oracle.JDBC.driver.OracleDriver (oci)) rather than the JDBC driver that is supplied with TIBCO ActiveMatrix BusinessWorks installation.

To use the Oracle JDBC Driver, you must obtain it from Oracle and save it in the TIBCO_HOME\bw\plugins\lib directory. You can take either of the following ways to use the Oracle JDBC driver:

— Select JDBC from the Connection Type list, check the Auto Config check box, and set up the Oracle JDBC driver

((oracle.jdbc.driver.OracleDriver (oci)) as the JDBC driver in the BWPlugin.properties file.

— Select JDBC from the Connection Type list, uncheck the Auto Config

check box, and type the name of the JDBC driver supplied by Oracle in the

JDBC Driver field manually in the DatabaseConnection tab of the iProcess Connection shared resource.

See the section of ’iProcess Connection’ of "Chapter 6, TIBCO BusinessWorks iProcess Plug-in Palette" in TIBCO iProcess BusinessWorks Connector User’s Guide for more information about how to use the JDBC driver supplied by Oracle.

Logs for Unregistering EAIJAVA Written to Unreasonable File During

Installation

When you install the product or some components of the product, the installer unregisters EAIJAVA automatically but the logs for unregistering EAIJAVA are not written to eaireg.log nor eairegerror.log.

If EAIJAVA is not detected on the machine you want to install the product, the logs indicating unsuccessful unregistering of EAIJAVA are written to

One Extra Value Returned to BusinessWorks

When you run cases from TIBCO ActiveMatrix BusinessWorks using TIBCO BusinessWorks iProcess Plug-in, and enter several values in an array field at design time, one extra value is sent to TIBCO ActiveMatrix BusinessWorks at runtime. For example, if you enter a, b in an array field, a,b,b is returned to BusinessWorks.

iProcess Connection Database Information

An incompatibility with the current version of TIBCO ActiveMatrix

BusinessWorks means that the information on the Database Connection tab of an

iProcess Connection resource must be entered manually. This information must be based on the JDBC driver installed when TIBCO ActiveMatrix BusinessWorks was installed. See the section ’iProcess Connection’ in the TIBCO iProcess

BusinessWorks Connector User’s Guide for more information about this resource, and see the documentation supplied with your JDBC driver for information on what data to enter.

Installer Not Informing User When JVM Cannot be Found

The installer terminates at the Verifying JVM check without informing the user of the cause of the termination.

Misleading Error for Long JNDI Passwords

JNDI passwords are limited to 1 KByte in length. If a JNDI password longer than the maximum 1 KByte is used, an "Invalid Endpoint Name: Endpoint already exists" error is displayed, instead of an error indicating that the password size limit has been reached.

See the section "Adding a New JMS Provider" in the TIBCO iProcess BusinessWorks Connector User’s Guide for details of the JNDI Password field.

Runtime Errors with SQL Server 2005 SP2

If you are performing a new installation of iProcess Technology Plug-ins under SQL Server 2005 with Service Pack 2, or upgrading to Service Pack 2, you may encounter an error at runtime. When you use the BusinessWorks iProcess Plug-in from TIBCO Designer and execute a Start Case on the iProcess Engine, an SQL Server error message is generated warning you to enable OLE using the Server Surface Area Configuration utility.

See TIBCO iProcess Technology Plug-insInstallation for further details.

A Possible Loop in the Installer

In certain circumstances it is possible to create a loop in the iProcess Technology Plug-ins installer.

If an existing version of one or more plug-ins is already installed and you intend to upgrade the existing installation, but accidentally select New Installation in the Installation Mode dialog instead, an error message is generated.

You are informed that it is not possible to perform a new installation over a previous version, and you are prompted either to select another component to install, or to remove the existing version. The Features dialog is displayed, enabling you to select another component. However, you cannot navigate back to the Installation Mode dialog to correct your original error, and if all components are already selected in the Features dialog you cannot move from this screen at all, and must stop the installation manually.

XPath Expressions in Numeric Fields Are Not Supported

If you define a numeric field that maps to an XPath expression then the iProcess BusinessWorks Connector fails to call the BusinessWorks process.

This is because the iProcess BusinessWorks Connector uses XPath 1.0 and scientific notation is not supported in XPath 1.0. It is supported in XPath 2.0. Xalan implements the XPath 1.0 specification, so trying to perform arithmetic operations on values does not work.

A workaround for this problem is to perform the addition within TIBCO

ActiveMatrix BusinessWorks. This evaluates the expression correctly, and you can then send the result back to iProcess.

MR 41537 MR 41550

Summary A known compatibility issue exists between TIBCO iProcess

Technology Plug-ins and TIBCO ActiveMatrix BusinessWorks version 5.7.1. The iProcess Connection resource may fail to connect from a BusinessWorks project.

Workaround Contact TIBCO support for details; a hotfix to BusinessWorks

may be required. When you have received this, it may be necessary to install the components in the following sequence:

1. TIBCO Runtime Agent version 5.6.0 or 5.6.1 2. TIBCO ActiveMatrix BusinessWorks version 5.7.1 3. TIBCO iProcess Technology Plug-ins version 11.2.0

4. TIBCO ActiveMatrix BusinessWorks Hotfix 2 and any subsequent hotfixes MR 36287 Summary After deploying a Formflow process it is possible for the release of a

step to fail with either of the following errors reported: Java.lang.NoClassDefFound

No icud36.dll in the java.library.path

Workaround Ensure that the Tomcat instance to which the Formflow process

has been deployed has access to a valid version of the iProcess Server Objects client libraries.

Do this by either copying them to the shared folder in the Tomcat directory or add the path to the java.library.path in the Tomcat start up script.

MR 36047 Summary The installer logs an error "product bean CreateStartMenu does not exist" on AIX installations.

Workaround None. This error can be safely ignored.

MR 35674 Summary An iProcess BusinessWorks step cannot import a schema using the interface file introspection method if the interface file (.wsdl file) contains double-byte characters such as Japanese schema names.

Workaround Use the Live Link to BusinessWorks introspection method. The

iProcess BusinessWorks step can then import the Japanese schema correctly.

CR 19895 Summary The DatabaseConnection tab of the iProcess Connection resource by default has Auto Config checked to retrieve the database configuration from the iProcess Objects Server. In a Windows SQL Server environment the database URL is populated by the ODBC data source name - not the name of the SQL Server database. In this environment the Database Connection must be manually configured.

Workaround Ensure that the ODBC Data Source has the same name as the

iProcess SQL Server database.

CR 19357 Summary iProcess fields with a colon in their names, such as

SW_STARTER:NAME or CUST:POSTCODE, cannot be imported or exported using the BusinessWorks Connector plug-ins. This is because the colon is not a valid character in XML element names.

Workaround None.

CR 18744 Summary The Test button in the JMS Administration Utility dialog is unexpectedly disabled. This is because JMS provider and destination data is not available until an IMPORT or a REFRESH on LiveLink is carried out.

Workaround Do a REFRESH on LiveLink or re-import the WSDL.

CR 19253 Summary If the iProcess Decisions Server Plug-in v.10.3 is installed, an iProcess procedure that calls a BusinessWorks process may fail with a message

indicating "Error inside execute method of Java object". This is because installing iProcess Decisions creates a difference in the classloading order.

Workaround Re-install the iProcess Decisions .jar files into

SWDIR/eaijava/libs/repository/user.
