BA ISAGO University College (BA ISAGO) is a private tertiary education institution, which has been in operation since 2002.The institution is duly registered and accredited by the Botswana Training Authority (BOTA) (Registration number 000046) and the Tertiary Education Council (TEC) (Registration number 05018)

BA ISAGO offers its own home grown programmes as well as some which are offered through a license agreement with the National University of Science & Technology (NUST) The college operates campuses in Gaborone and Francistown, with a Centre for Research, Enterprise and Project Management located in Gaborone, and a Satellite Campus in Maun.

BA ISAGO is a 100% citizen owned institution. The major of the members of the Board of Directors are educationists, trainers and human resources developers with expertise and experience stretching over a number of years.

As an indigenous,BA ISAGO supports cultural norms, ethos and values unique to Batswana and has a social and moral obligation to groom well-rounded individuals rooted in the spirit of Botho,to earn their rightful places in contemporary society.

The College is responsive to the imperatives of the National Human Resources Development Strategy, and fully embraces Vision 2016.

The national and global socio economic challenges confronting developing and emerging economies in general and Botswana in particular require integrated and multi-sectoral interventions in order to meet both the current and the future human resources needs. 3.Bachelor of Commerce in Real Estate

Programme Objectives

Real estate is increasingly becoming an established discipline in Botswana, as infrastructural development progressively becomes a national priority. However training in real estate in Botswana has not had the attention it deserves to match the skills requirements of developments in the sector. This Degree programme is designed to respond to this need. The Bachelor of Commerce Degree in Real Estate is conferred upon a student who successfully completes 31 modules and

a compulsory project in the final year. The Degree will

provide an opportunity to undertake complementary modules that are relevant in every work environment along with studies in real estate making the graduate

highly flexible in terms of placement in the 21st Century

4.Bachelor of Commerce in Accounting

Programme Objectives

The Bachelor of Commerce Degree in Accounting is designed to give students a broad understanding of accounting and provides a more practical business focus. It serves as a basis for the opportunity to enter several highly respected international professional bodies such as Botswana Institute of Accountants, Association of

Chartered Certified Accountants, and Chartered Institute

Management Accountants. The degree offers both a practical management education and enough breadth in complementary academic subjects to prepare students to function effectively in complex private organizations or the public sector. This programme aims to give learners knowledge and skills required by employers in a variety of accounting and accounting support roles.

They may undertake accounting officers’ positions with responsibilities for preparing financial statements

recording for management purposes. Accountants work

in all parts of industry and commerce including financial

institutions, retail stores and other businesses

5. Bachelor of Commerce in Risk

Management

Programme Objectives

The Bachelor of Commerce in Risk Management

programme provides a professional qualification which

may be used to prepare directly for a career in risk

management, reflecting the current risk management

thinking, regulations and practices and how they impact modern organizations across the world, to gain advanced

entry to study for further professional qualification, provide

eligibility to apply for the recognized membership grade of Chartered Institute of Risk Management (CIRM). The nature of the programme is such as to provide students with not only an appreciation of the theoretical issues involved in the study of risk, but with a range of practical skills which will enhance their value to potential employers. The objectives of the Risk Management Bachelor of Commerce programme is to provide useful learning experiences in relevant risk management knowledge sets and in related knowledge areas to students, with

an understanding of specific principles, practices and advanced and/ or emerging risk management strategies

as well as technologies. It is expected that the graduates

from this program will be sufficiently competent to manage

risks and safety in products, services and facilities.

6. Bachelor of Commerce In

Entrepreneurship

The purpose of the Bachelor of Commerce Degree in Entrepreneurship is to empower Batswana young men and women with entrepreneurial skills and knowledge so that they may go into self-employment and create jobs for themselves and their employees. The private sector can achieve maximum growth by increasing its pool of competent entrepreneurs who are able to identify and successfully exploit business opportunities in the economy.

The programme is designed to equip learners with knowledge and skills in areas of business management (marketing, accounting, human resource management, business communication, computing, entrepreneurial skills and general management). It also gives an understanding about the opportunities and challenges of entrepreneurship, skills and knowledge needed to succeed in starting and operating the business.

Career Opportunities

The B Com degree in Entrepreneurship prepares graduates to launch their own businesses and operate them successfully.

The graduates can also go into paid employment in private companies and government organisations which are involved in the development and promotion of entrepreneurs in Botswana, such as The Local Enterprise Authority (LEA), the Citizen Entrepreneurs Development Agency, and the Department of Youth etc.

Entry Requirements

Applicants must have obtained at least five credits at Botswana General Certificate of Secondary Education or

its equivalent including a pass in English language OR

Candidates must have successfully completed a Diploma in Entrepreneurship from BA ISAGO University College, or its equivalent. OR

Special Entry: Candidates who do not have the

minimum academic qualifications stated above, but have five years relevant work experience in a related field, will

be considered upon satisfying the requirements of the Academic Affairs Board that might include an entrance interview.

7. Bachelor Of Education (Early

Childhood Development)

Programme Objectives

This is a four year degree programme divided into eight semesters, offering thirty eight courses which prepare learners to care and educate children from zero to six years. The programme philosophy ensures that learners acquire knowledge and skills necessary to plan and implement play-based learning that supports children in all areas of their development. Learners will learn how to be responsive and effective caregivers to facilitate a child’s feelings of self-worth, independence and social-emotional resilience. It aims to highlight the importance of providing the possible environment for their child’s learning and holistic development.

The programme has a strong component on parental involvement, premised on the understanding that the

family provides a child’s first and most significant learning

environment. This compliments the idea that parents are

their child’s first and most important teachers. Families,

professionals, para-professional and community groups dealing with children are therefore, all regarded as catalysts and agents in children’s’ development, and also expected to work through collaborative partnership as stakeholders of varying backgrounds. These connections are critical as they form the foundation of working in the

field of early learning and care. The Early Childhood

Development programme exposes learners to a unique balance between theoretical knowledge and practical life experiences.

8. Bachelor Of Education (Social

Studies)

Programme Objectives

Social Studies serves as a tool to produce a sound and robust human resources in the form of competent, responsible, patriotic and adaptive citizens, capable of working in an ever changing socio-economic and political

environment.

The Bachelor of Education in Social Studies programme is designed to equip students with broader and deeper social studies content, furthermore it assists to develop skills and attitudes that will enable them to meet the challenges of the ever changing world in which they operate on a daily basis. It will also enable them to grow professionally to

effectively and fluently implement government educational

policies and programmes.

9. Bachelor of Education Degree

(General)

Programme Objectives

The B Ed General was designed expressly for the

upgrading of Diploma in Education holders. Specific

objectives are as follows:

• Enables the students to specialize in both primary and secondary level of education. The specific

objective is to allow the graduates of colleges of education who specialized in Primary education and NPDE graduates an articulate route to further their education

• Fosters students’ ability to communicate

information, articulate ideas and impart knowledge effectively.

• Assists students acquire / gain knowledge,

develop skills and attitudes that will enable them to deal with issues in an analytical and practical manner.

• Produces teachers who will be able to collate,

analyze, interpret and present data adeptly and make reasonable judgments.

• Produces teachers capable of conducting

research projects to enhance their professional development as well as that of the institution.

• Produces teachers with competencies that will

enable them to make sound and critical analysis

of educational issues with a view to reflecting on

them when presenting content or subject matter in a teaching learning scenario.

Postgraduate Diploma in Educational

Leadership and Management

The Postgraduate Diploma in Educational Leadership and Management seeks to develop capacity in management and leadership in education. This one-year postgraduate diploma is designed to prepare education professionals for managerial roles within the education sector, by improving the practice of management and leadership in the education sector. The programme is designed to serve those working in or with schools and early childhood centres, who hold either formal or informal leadership positions including senior teachers, heads of department, members of senior management teams, school heads

principals, professional developers and Ministry officials.

The Postgraduate Diploma in Educational Leadership and Management will enable learners with an education

background to develop integrated, functional and reflective

competencies in educational management by examining issues such as school administration, educational

leadership, strategic management in education,

supervision and instruction, accounting and financial

management, and human resources administration in education.

The programme will:

• Provide leadership in an educational context. • Apply management principles in an educational

context.

• Develop marketing strategies for educational

institutions.

• Administer financial resources in an educational

institution.

• Administer human resources in an educational

institution.

• Evaluate the effectiveness and efficiency of the

functioning of educational institutions.

11. Bachelor Of Science Degree In

Quantity Surveying

Programme Objectives

The Bachelor Of Science Degree in Quantity Surveying is designed to cover a whole range of skills and knowledge that modern quantity surveyors require to perform their

work efficiently and effectively. All the basic skills of

the quantity surveyor in commercial management of

works, procurement& tendering, construction technology,

contract administration& practice and project final control and reporting are dealt with in sufficient detail to meet the

required competency levels of students and ensure they are employable graduates.

Entry Requirements

Candidates must have obtained at least five (5) Credits

at BGCSE (or equivalent) including a pass in English language, Mathematics and Physics.

Special Entry: - Candidates who do not have the

minimum academic qualifications stated above but have a five years relevant work experience in a related field,

will be considered upon satisfying the requirements of the Academic Affairs Board that might include an entrance interview.

12.Bachelor of Commerce (Honours)

in Risk Management and Insurance

(NUST)

Programme Objectives

The Bachelor of Commerce (Hons) Risk Management and Insurance degree is a specialized professional programme

dealing mainly with risk inherent in the financial services

sector. It covers areas such as:

• Insurance and Re-insurance Principles and

Application,

• Financial Services Regulation and Insurance Law, • Employee Benefit Plan, Design and Finance, • Property and Liability Insurance,

• Financial Management and Analysis of Insurance, • Insurance Broking and Client Services and • Life and Health Insurance.

Entry Requirements

Five BGSCE credits including English and Mathematics.

Higher qualifications will be an added advantage.

Special Entry: - Candidates who do not have the

minimum academic qualifications stated above but have a minimum of five years supervisory/managerial experience

will be considered for mature entry. In all such cases, candidates will have to be interviewed
