Welcome to Anatomy and Physiology III. This course covers a large amount of material in a short period of time. You are encouraged to study some of the material each day. The best way to succeed in this course is to come to lecture everyday. Studying with your classmates and making flashcards will also help with your success.
Lecture outlines will be available on the internet at the following website: www.pcc.edu/staff/stephanie.mirkes
Academic Honesty: All lecture and laboratory quizzes, midterms, and finals are closed book. No dictionaries, lists, calculators, or texts are allowed. No student collaboration or talking allowed. Cheating will result in a “zero” on that assignment.
Texts:
Lecture: Martini. Fundamentals of Anatomy & Physiology, 8th ed.
Lab Manual: Marieb. Human Anatomy and Physiology Lab Manual, 9th ed. Recommended: Anatomy and Physiology Coloring Book or flashcards Grading:
Lecture: 60% Lab: 40%
Lecture: 3 exams (multiple choice and short answer) Each exam is worth 100 points
Lab: 2 lab practicals- 75 points each 4 lab quizzes- 12 points each
Quizzes: During the course of the term, there will be 5 quizzes given during lab. They will cover material from the previous week’s lab and are intended to help you keep up with the material. The lowest quiz score will be dropped. There will be NO make-up quizzes.
There are no make-up labs. Absence from lab affects your lab grade as follows: More than 2 absences: grade not better than C
More than 3 absences: grade not better than D More than 4 absences: fail to pass the lab (o extra credit is available at any time.
Makeup exams will not be given except for documented unforeseen extenuating circumstances such as hospitalization or death of a family member. Family vacation is not a reason to miss a test in this class.
The following will be used to determine the final course grade: 90-100% A 80-89% B 70-79% C 60-69% D below 60% F Other Grading Options
It is your responsibility to learn the consequences of various grading options for your GPA, financial aid, and career planning. You are responsible for knowing PCC’s dates for Withdrawal, Audit, and Pass/No Pass.
Audit: week 3 Withdrawal: week 8 Pass/No Pass: week 8 Attendance
Lecture exam material is drawn from my lectures. There is a strong correlation between good attendance in my class and good grades. I do not provide lecture review sheets before exams.
