Plan for Communications Level 2

What you have to do...

You must put together a portfolio of evidence to show that you

can communicate well at Level 2. Your portfolio should include

evidence to meet the following 3 types of communication:

2.1 Speaking and Listening

2.2 Reading

2.3 Writing

How you are going to do it...

2.1 Speaking and listening

1. You need to provide evidence where you have taken part in two discussions with two or more people (other than your assessor).

You have to provide evidence that you have prepared for your discussion. You must meet the criteria on page 3.

2.1.3 (a)

2. You must provide evidence that you have made a presentation or given a talk for at least 4 minutes.

You must meet the criteria listed on page 4.

2.1.3(b)

2.2 Reading

3. You have to read, understand and synthesise two documents about the same subject (minimum 500 words long), one must contain reasoning and one must contain an image.

You must provide your synthesis of the material you have read which will be the handout to accompany your presentation.

You must meet the criteria listed on page 5.

4. You must write two different documents, giving different information to

Very important - both documents must be free from spelling and grammar errors.

TIPS – Using work you have already done

Using work you have already completed for your AON and IT Essential Skill.

Your TWO writing documents will be the ECO footprint investigation and the handout you produced to accompany your power point presentation.

One discussion will be following your PowerPoint presentation (which I will assess). Your preparation materials will be your PowerPoint and your speakers’ notes.

One discussion will be your end of shift discussion. You will get a witness testimony from your supervisor based on the criteria on page 3. You will need a preparation document for this discussion.

C2.3.1 Write two documents of

differenttypes, each one giving

different information to different audiences in appropriate formats, using language that is appropriate to your purpose and audience.

One document must be 500 words long.

There must be evidence of planning and at least one draft, with evidence of checking. In final work, sentences must be formed correctly, with correct punctuation, spelling and grammar.

Paragraphing must be appropriate.
